While some people like console sales because their console is leading in those sales, consoles sales alone are only one sign of health and not a very good one.

A perfect example was the Wii. It was the best selling console last generation with over 100 million sold, but, it was largely abandoned by third parties long before it fizzled because gamers were mostly buying Nintendo games on the console and ignoring core third party games.

Today, success is by...

What a bunch of BS.

Everyone says every year is critical to MS at E3.

The reality is nothing is changing. PS still outsells XBO. And will continue to do so for the foreseeable future.

And by the way, MS doesn't really care too much about consoles sold. They are more concerned about number of gamers playing their games and using their XB/Azure services. Nobody makes money on the consoles sold. You make money by games and servic...

LOL.

All you trying to defend VR.

Whether you are on PC or PlayStation with VR it is not doing well.

I don't buy the excuse that PSVR came out 3 years into the generation. There are many accessories that have shipped well into the generations that relied on current owners to buy them. Kinect sold 10 million in three months after releasing 5 years after XBOX 360 first shipped.

I love VR and have my own the Ocul...

Really this depends on how you rate FPS games.

I would break it into Single Player FPS campaigns and Multi-Player FPS.

I liked the game but the story was way too short.

VR is pretty much DoA.

Sony released PSVR October 13, 2016. Here we are over two years later and the install base was 3 million as of July according to Sony. With an installed base of 85 million consoles. That a PSVR installed base of just over 3.5% of all PS4 gamers. I don't know how anyone can look at that and call it successful.

I really don't get why Sony is not attending but the things that them not showing at E3 does most is probably it will kill a lot of Japanese games from showing at E3.

As for Microsoft, at this point it does nothing. This iteration of consoles has been decided. And Sony is coasting to finish the generation (Outside of the Last of Us II).

I expect E3 2019 to be just a bunch of lower level announcements. The big sell will be 2020/21 when there is ...

So, you've played the completed game thru and know enough to give it a thorough and objective review?

Can you post the detailed objective review so that we can assess it as well?

Or is the truth of the matter you just automatically hate everything EA and Bioware now?

No, not at all. PS2, then PS1, then PS4, then PS3...

PS4 is a good gaming console but there was next to zero innovation this generation.

I have no problem with them taking their time to make a really good game.

I have a problem that they announced the game way before they got close to shipping it. This is a pattern in the industry that I can't stand. Whether it was Last Guardian, Crackdown 3, Final Fantasy VII, etc. Please, know your release date is solid before you show off your games.

Personally, I think God of War should win. One of the best games this generation and a true work of art.

Not at all...

I only want them announcing games that will ship within the year. I do not like any publisher that talks about games early because there is always a significant chance of cancellation or multiple delays.

Anything farther than a year is not close enough to completion to show.

@badz149.

LOL.

137 million subscribers to Netflix disagree with you. That is more subscribers than any other console this generation.

As for physical media after many years of collecting I started to go digital about 8 years ago. Don't regret the decision at all. Less space and more mobile, because with digital games I just need an internet connection to bring them to the console I am playing on.

Or you could just plug in an external drive and add to your storage.

Why would you take your console apart just to add more storage and throw away a perfectly good internal drive?

I agree that there has to be a disc option. To me, a console is a replacement for an optical disc player.

But having the option to have a disc-less device is also good for secondary and mobile gaming scenarios. I would love to have a smaller XB for travel.

There are not many games today that do not require the Internet to play.

And most of the most popular games are all Internet based...

Fortnite, PUBG, Call of Duty Black Ops 4, Destiny, etc. are some of the largest selling games this generation and all require an Internet connection just to play them. Not to mention streaming services like PS Now are driving towards a all-digital future just as much as this does.

Sure there are successf...

Yup, the world is ending because MS is offering a optical disc-less console, I am going to sell my XB One and X tomorrow, abandon my vast library of Play anywhere, XB BC, 360 BC, and XBO games, and probably commit suicide right after I burn down my home.

It has been proven time and time again that one of the barriers to people buying consoles are price.

Look at the $600 PS3, MS priced the XBO $100 more than PS4 to start the generation because of Kinect, and not everyone buys the XBO X and PS4 Pro because it is more expensive. Black Friday console sales are the biggest selling day of the year. This will probably add another price point to allow MS to sell at $199 all the time and possibly a $149 or $99 XB on big sale days....

There is room in the market for 2nd tier type games. Not every game needs to be a AAA masterpiece with gripping stories and battle royales.

As long as they have enough studios to support releasing a decent game why would gamers not buy games they like.
