The game mechanics are just fine. Sometimes simplistic is good. And in this game I quite enjoy it just the way it is. That doesn't mean other people do, but to me it is a 7 or 8 out of 10.
And this the problem with every company on the planet that is publicly traded.
There is pressure every year for them to beat the earnings of the previous year so they either have to make more money or reduce their costs. This year Activision is reducing costs.
And yes, Bobby makes far too much but that can be said of almost every large multi-billion dollar company CEO.
Reality has been hitting the gaming industry this generation. No...
@Ristful
There is more cutscenes in CD3 then there was in both previous Crackdowns.
Not every game needs a gripping story. And Crackdown 1 and 2 never had one. That is not the demographic that plays Crackdown.
So what is wrong with the game?
Are the game controls and mechanics poor?
Is the graphics poor?
Is the sound awful?
Is the fact that it unapologetically has little story and is sold as a game to have fun in wrong?
I don't think the game is a 9 or 10... But 7 or 8's would be about right. Seems like most of the people bashing it are bashing it for the cloud stuff and how long it took to develop.
To move gaming forward games have to try new things. While I agree the campaign could've been out earlier and cheaper, there is nothing wrong with a company trying to stretch and do something different but failing at that. They aso could've stopped trying earlier, but, they are trying to move gaming forward. The cloud will become something bigger someday, it was just too early today.
I would rather them take chances to do something new and exciting then just deli...
Activision is a sinking ship. They continue on their current path and the will be like EA.
Seikro is really their only new IP. And they aren't doing much to totally reinvent their existing IPs. This last year was the first year I did not buy CoD on Day One. I did not miss a thing.
I would love to see Activision come out with a new Pitfall along the lines of Uncharted, Battlezone along the lines of World of Tanks, a new Asteroids remake, a real new...
Ubisoft has a ton of great games.
This generation they are probably my favourite 3rd Party...
Trials Fusion, Division, RB Six Seige, Ghost Recon, AC, Fary Cry, etc. They have put out a ton of great games this generation consistently.
LOL. If you believe everything any company says you need serious help.
Look at the PS3 promises:

I will agree that the cloud is not delivering, but this is a fun Crackdown game. I play for the campaign and co-op and it is not disappointing.
Nope. This game is complete. It is just like the first Crackdown game. They might add to it, but that is fine with me if they don't. It will give me a good 20 hrs of entertainment, another 20 to cleanup achievements and then whatever they add later is fine, or send me to a new Crackdown city and I will play there.
This is probably the best article I have seen on Crackdown 3 to date. I know the game won't be a 10/10. Never have expected that. But, if it gives me the same game as Crackdown 1 in a better environment, new graphics, and new bosses then I will enjoy it for what it is.
If I want deep story and deep character development I will go play another game that is known for that. To me, Crackdown was always about fun.
Maybe paying for emotes is wrong.
I don't know why people think that everything gets to be copyrighted. There is a line that needs to be drawn otherwise someone posting a Carlton Dance on social media and gets lots of hits will get sued or banned. Copyright is important, but this is ridiculous.
There are tons of games that don't deliver on the vision that the developer conveyed on first showing. Do you think they just woke up one day and said, "Hey let's lie about what we can do in the cloud so that gamers laugh at us"?
That does not make it a lie. To me, that makes it overly ambitious. Microsoft is not the first company to be overly ambitious. The key to any game's vision is balancing ambition and ability to execute. The Order, Last Guar...
I am looking forward to playing it this weekend.
So, many games focus on engaging story, RPG elements, etc... Crackdown is just fun. Hopefully Crackdown 3 continues the tradition.
Bethseda owns the IP not gamers.
They can do whatever they want to move the IP forward.
That does not mean gamers will buy into the new direction and buy the game. Bethesda has to then decide if they are willing to continue down the path or go back to the roots. That is usually a discussion about how much money they make either way.
With Duke Nukem Forever.... From the time it was announced to the time it game out I got married and my wife had our first kid.
With Last Guardian, my wife had another baby, got cancer, died two years later, and we got a new console generation.
Yup. I am really just pointing out what seems to be missing when I play recent XB games.
I just hope this Crackdown game goes back to the roots of Crackdown 1...
Let me do anything I want, give me some fun traversing to power-up, and make a fun environment that is full of chaos!
That's what made Crackdown 1 a cult classic.
A Battle Royale here, a Battle Royale there, there are Battle Royales everywhere!
I respect any company that fights the urge to make their games into a Battle Royale.
