Gaming is not only consoles.

Gaming is on many devices. Consoles, Phones, Tablets, and PC. Microsoft is making it so I can game anywhere, anytime, and on any device and enjoy the true gaming platform which is their network.

I do not understand why you only must have only a console. Do you carry a console everywhere you go? Do you buy several consoles so you can play in a den and youtr living room? Lineups at retail/entertainment, to restaurants eatin...

Kudos to Sony for using this as a tool to sell new consoles.

But, this is not a good tactic from a gamer perspective. They have been marketing LoU2 for a year or two this generation. If this was their plan then they should've told people this was a next generation game.

When I saw the last E3 demo I was thinking, "Wow, how did they do that with the current console generation?" Now I know it wasn't this generation's console.

Just like gamers were burnt with the hype of the PS3... Remember the days?

X360 came out a year earlier... PS3 was supposed to smoke it technically with the cell chip... 1080p for every game was promised. PS3 came out and for at least the first three years, X360 had higher frame rates on almost every game... And Sony completely missed the boat on online gaming. The shipping PS3 had no trophies and the PSN was just a joke at the time. Yet they charged $100 more for th...

The most important thing I want to see is what a few of their recently acquired studios are working on plus I would like to see some more studio or IP acquisitions.

The ultimate would be something like:

A showing from Ninja Theory of a new game or a new Hellblade game
Some more info on The Outer Worlds
A full showing of Gears 5
A jaw dropping teaser from The Initiative with a new IP
Some really good xCloud demos with an...

Honestly, the fanboyism needs to end. People should be free to choose whatever device they prefer to game on and be able to play any game there.

Game anywhere, with any game, on any device.

Gaming is a full community of gamers, not a community of XB, PS, PC, Nintendo, Steam, etc fans. What benefits one gamer should benefit all gamers.

And who does not hype their E3 conference (when they have one)?

Seriously, do you expect them each year to say, "This year our conference will have the odd gem and it is just another average year"?

2596d ago 1 agree1 disagreeView comment

That is completely false. It benefits gamers by allowing them to play on more devices rather then just sitting in front of a console. I can play on my tablet, phone, PC, etc... All without having to buy the game on all those devices or install the game on those devices.

I for one travel a lot.... And it is a complete pain to pack my "portable" console setup with me everywhere. If I could stream on a tablet I would do it in a heartbeat and leave my "porta...

You have to understand that there are a whole group of media that are only watching what happens on consoles and do not look at broader tech in the PC and mobile markets. They seem to think the world revolves around consoles and only consoles.

I disagree. GaaS could be done right. Not sure on the Halo 5 front myself, but if done right GaaS can really be beneficial to gamers and the industry.

There has always been pressure for games to release new sequels to generate the dollars necessary to support the ongoing development teams. And sequels within generations are usually just taking the same game engine, tweaking it and putting a new story on it to charge $50-60 for a game. If done right GaaS could charge for...

Yup, I have coined this generation the recycled generation. It seems like everything is being recycled and remastered. There are some games that deserve the title of remaster.... Final Fantasy VII whenever it arrives, Resident Evil 2, Gears of War, The Last of Us, etc. Where they were truely remastered and upgraded for this generation.

But then there are literally a ton of remasters that were just cheap ports from the previous generation just to make money.

I cannot believe that people still think that you should have to buy a specific console to enjoy your favorite games and game services.

Microsoft and Sony are doing the right thing here. This helps both companies be able to deliver their games across all platforms (if they desire). That will benefit all gamers and game companies. The future is play any game, on any platform, from anywhere in the world. That future is probably less than 10 years away with things like One...

This is about both companies giving their gamers more options. Whatever you think about GaSS, it just gives gamers more options and options are good. What may not be good for you may be good for others.

I look at reviews as "input" into the buying process. I read the reviews and it is usually pretty obvious to me whether the reviewer is biased, not a fan of the genre, or writing a negative review without real basis.

Very rarely do I see reviews as the primary driver of my purchases.

8K is interesting. Unless the TV is in the 40" range 4K means nothing today. 8Ks only come into play for TVs above 75".

And the number of people that have a wall big enough for an 75" plus TV and can afford it is limited. As we progress 8K the inevitable 12K, and 16K will probably become very large luxury TVs. It will be that most people by the Toyota, Honda, GM, Ford, etc which will be 4K. And a few people will buy the 8K Lambo, Ferrari's, BMWs, M...

Yup. To me, the Vita was one of Sony's best devices and my all time favourite mobile gaming device.

My primary gaming device is XB for multi-platform games. I own almost every console released since 2005 and I play most of them. I have favourite games on all consoles.

The console wars have been over for about 10 years now...

Sony, Microsoft and Nintendo will have been making consoles for at least two decades as of 2021. Anyone the thinks any of the three are going anywhere knows nothing about business.

For there to be a war, there has to be winners and losers. Currently, all three are winning in the console space and there are no losers.
