Just goes to show how important it is for there to be competition in the gaming world.
@Purrfection
You have nothing better to do then participate in a console war that no longer exists (In case you haven't noticed Sony, Microsoft, and Nintendo have participated in the past three generations and it seems clear that all three are going to the next generation) It is only a console war if there is a good chance one or more console vendors will leave, and when you look at the division gaming profits from Microsoft, Sony, and Nintendo you see there is no reason for any...
Ya, good luck with that.... There are many things that needs to happen and MS probably still could not win the next gen.
1) First, party games have to not only be as good as Sony's but they have to be better and more frequent.
2) Sony fans that are very rabid would have to open their minds to buying XB.
3) Sony would have to dramatically misstep.
All three of these are extremely unlikely to happen. I would be shocked if one of them...
I don't know why people compare it to uncharted. An action-adventure can still be worth playing if it is not Uncharted, Last of Us, or Horizon Zero Dawn. They are a all great games.
Tomb Raider Although the story is predictable and generic feeling the gameplay is very good. One of the best bow implementations in a game ever, and the story is secondary to all the exploration and tomb raiding.
No, Tomb Raider is not Uncharted level but it isn't b...
Credit where credit is due. Sony took advantage of two flawed competitors at the start of the generation and have rode that into the sunset this generation.
The Wii U was a complete failure, and until MS release Xbox One X, they were just as poor.
Sony will still win next generation based on gamer good will from this generation, but it will be interesting how the dynamic changes with competitors that have a decent console and hopefully decent games.
I am not sure what the issue is. It is not like he was welcoming them back to Microsoft. He just said he looks forward to working with an independent studio.
It is news, he made a pretty innocent comment on it.
Bungie's best days are behind them.
Halo 1-3 + Reach was a great story combined with a great game.
Destiny is a great game void of story.
I wish them luck because the mechanics in their games are top notch, but Destiny is not anything I am really interested in. Just another lab rat game to me.
Blu-ray discs are very durable.
Between, CD, DVD, and Blu-Ray discs I have approximately 4,000 discs (been collecting since early 90's). In that time I have had 2 discs scratch to the point they needed replacement.
All it takes on a cartridge is for one wrong electro static shock and they are done.
All you have to do is take a look at good FPS from GameCube/PS2/XB, Wii/PS3/X360, and Switch/PS4/XO to see there is a large difference between the games through the generations. The quantity of details, the sharpness of graphics, the interact ability with the environment, the customizability of your characters, etc. This will be no different in the next generation.
Next generation is shaping up to be a lot different start than previous generations. Microsoft has already ...
lol. My thinking as well except you actually have to hit the head to get the head shot!
I have been gaming since the very first generation of games in the 1970's.
One thing to count on is that you cannot predict anything or which way everything will go.
Most AAA games have become increasingly complex, much more realistic looking, and more online/mobile centric almost every year.
People have chosen to fight this and they are not wrong, but progress towards realism, complexity, and online/mobile will continue for the f...
Although I agree with your statement on releasing a whole game on day one, I don't think Insomniac misled anyone on what the whole game would include.
Many gamers assume way too much and are far too judgemental. The games industry is changing and evolving all the time. If you don't like a game there is nothing forcing you to buy it. With Spider-man there is a digital deluxe edition that I think has the DLC suit. That is a norm now. Many single player games come...
Many gamers have blamed Halo for being stale, so Microsoft has to improve it. It is not enough anymore just to have a linear story where you go from chapter to chapter. Gamers expect more in a campaign now.
As for a "new IP". It changes things from a setting perspective, but creating "new IPs" is just as much a buzz phrase to me as "open world". A game can be made exceptional no matter which IP it is made within. It is more about the devel...
Frankly this is BS.
Microsoft will not dominate for the following reasons:
1) You do not have to buy an XB to play all of Microsoft's best games going forward
2) Many people who like the XB live experience also prefer PC
3) Microsoft has not established their exclusives to be equal to or better than Sony's since about 2005 (Other than Forza's)
4) Microsoft does not have world wide appeal and in Japan they are non-e...
Ya, I would say there are many gamers who do not feel the same way. Spidey is a solid game. The site is trying to increase clicks obviously.
Do I think it is as great as a lot of gamers are talking about it? No. Do I think it is a really solid insomniac game. Absolutely.
Let's put it this way, if VR was $100 and Sony made it mandatory bundling (Lifting the price tag of PS $100) with every console would Sony enjoy mega sales like it has this generation for its console/VR bundle?
Bundling VR with the PS console would significantly decrease their console sales. That is why they haven't made it mandatory, they know it doesn't enjoy widespread success yet.
It truly brought God of War to the forefront of action adventures again!
@Cmv38
So how is that ludicrous? We haven't heard of RRoD or anything like that with XB1. And when you look at the XB1X it has continually benchmarked better than the PS4 Pro on multi-platform games for framerates, resolution, and quality of graphics.
Does not sound ludicrous, sounds like at the very least a subjective and defensible fact.
Agreed gamers need to understand games more before they purchase them. No Mans Sky, Halo, DriveClub, Sea of Thieves and many others have been either incomplete or broken games at launch.
I like that the studios went and fixed the problems with the games, but at the same time these games all had betas before launch and I am sure the studios/publishers knew there were issues. They should've delayed their games appropriately. This speaks to a problem in the game industr...
