Mattrick was right and the vision around the Xbox One was perfectly fine.

But, unfortunately there was one flaw with the vision and that was first party studios and games. A console is balance between entertainment and games. His vision wasn't game heavy enough.

Considering that any computer is out of date pretty much the day you buy it....

No...

Specs can never be enough!

Yup, they used the same motherboard and instead of the button there is a torx screw in its place for the eject button.

Not at all the first time this has ever happened in an electronic.

There are a large number of people that don't buy physical media anymore. Why spend an extra $50 on a console if you aren't going to use physical media?

Also, this will hopefully help get the entry point lower. A day one next gen console at $350 USD would be attractive to many people.

Gimp a version and I refuse to buy the game. Remedy I loved Alan Wake, Even loved Alan Wake American Nightmare more. Quantum Break was decent.

Control. Since you are gimping a version I won't buy it on any console. I was already borderline not going to buy the game, you just decided for me.

The only reason these publishers make games is to make money.

They are companies. Unless they are not-for-profit their only purpose of existence is for money.

I will buy the game based solely on its merits. I have yet to see any game play or previews so can't assess its merits yet. And I don't know the plan for DLC and other add-on content.

If gamers don't collectively buy it for a month after release that will really encourage EA to develop more single player story driven games /s

Having about four million sales for an accessory after two and a half years on the market is not successful.

Do you think Kinect was successful? Well it sold 4 million in the first six months. The original Wii couldn't be produced fast enough. PSVR demand has been easily met and less than 5% of PS4 users have bought it. I don't know how anyone can claim that as success.

There is nothing wrong with Shadow of the Tomb Raider. I have been playing it since release. I have constantly progressed, gone back to it and am now near the end. It is not Uncharted and I don't want it to be. Uncharted is truly great in its own ways and I like how Tomb Raider differentiates itself from Uncharted.

Both great games, and I enjoy them both. There are things that Tomb Raider could do better, but to me they are relatively minor and Square has done a go...

If a game's rating of 9's and 10's is solely based on its difficulty that is pretty stupid. I like From software. Have fought through several of their games just to prove "I still have it" when it comes to difficult games. But, I do not give it a 9 or 10 just because it endlessly kills me, makes me doubt my gaming ability at times, and I end up buying a new controller after I "recycle" the current one in frustration. There is much more to these games.

@TheOneWhoIsTornApart
I wasn't really talking about severe disabilities.

I am talking more about as people age they become slower with reflexes, etc. I have been lucky myself that I can still play these kinds of games and be successful. But, I know many people and friends that used to play the toughest games, and now have to tone down the difficulty levels on some games because they just aren't as good or quick anymore.

2645d ago 1 agree1 disagreeView comment

Although I mostly agree with you, a lot of these kinds of games require near lightning perfection and reflexes to get thru. Many people with even the slightest hint of a disability have no chance of completing these types of games even though they want to.

Not saying that games have to have easy modes, but there are a demographic of gamers that just have no chance of ever finishing a game like this so they aren't going to buy it. Smaller audiences mean less ability to...

Can't say I am at all disappointed.

If they would've sent some of the big profits for used games back to game publishers/developers I would've liked them, but holding on reselling games that developers worked hard to develop and keeping all those profits themselves makes this exercise poetic justice in my books.

I am not sure I think that Quantum Break is any good, but Alan Wake was a high quality game.

And I am not a cult gamer of Alan Wake. I just thought it was great, not exceptional, but great.

LOL. Metacritic has credibility on this site all of a sudden?

2651d ago 5 agree21 disagreeView comment

Ridiculous. There is no such thing as a console war anymore. Gaming is now about how each company does on every platform in the long term. The best gaming companies will survive by having a offering that encompasses mobile, consoles, PCs, and tablets.

Yup, but I still own all of those games and I still play them regularly including Forza Horizon 2 and Forza Motorsports 5 still have online working (Literally I played them both last night). Forza Horizon 1 server shutdown a while back but to be fair it was an X360 game from 2012.

It appears Sony is just making these games into SP games. Multi-player servers don't last forever in most cases. People should know that and be aware of that when they buy multi-player game...

I download every game I see enter gamepass. I try and give every game my time to see if I will like it. Sometimes it surprises me in very good ways, other times it justifies why I would not buy the game.

2652d ago 2 agree0 disagreeView comment

No, it doesn't. Major Nelson in the article is asked the question, but he does not answer it directly because he says it is part of their "secret sauce" to GamePass' success.

But, given how quickly some games like Just Cause 4 are coming to GamePass so quickly, it obviously has to have a solid revenue model for the game developers.

2652d ago 2 agree0 disagreeView comment

Yes, it seems this is where GamePass is shining the most. Exposing people to good SP games and giving them what is probably a guaranteed revenue stream right on day one when they enter GamePass.

I know this is not the same as the used game market. But, it looks like it could replace that market. And to me, I really like that because at least some of the revenues (I assume) are getting back to the game makers in some way.
