The campaigns are full of interesting campaign mechanics and variety that you may see in other shooters but when combined make Gears unique overall amongst shooters. Whether it is boss battles, active reloads, separating co-op teams down different paths, the cover system, implementation of recoil, light guns, enemy variety, the unique grenades, the saw on the lancer, the hammer of dawn, etc, there is a ton of variety in Gears campaigns that you don't find in most shooter campaigns.
Exclusivity is a bad thing for gamers. It is anti-consumer because it encourages you to choose a device based on game selection rather then the merits of the device itself.
Also, exclusivity creates and fans the flames of fanboyism. If all games shipped on all consoles and gamers could play with and against each other regardless of device, there would be no reason for fanboyism.
I remember a time when you would buy a game and that $50 was the end of the purchase. You would then spend hundreds of hours perfecting the game. Now, many games sadly are designed to generate money. They force you to grind endlessly for hundreds of hours or spend ridiculous money to buy stuff in the game to short cut grinding. It is just wrong to me.
No game should have pay to win, and no game should have the ability to short cut the natural course of the game by jus...
The rest of the world also has the same violent video games, so why is the USA the only country with constant mass shootings?
The answer is culture of the nation. The politics and laws drive the culture. I have traveled to many different countries and to me the two things that the USA gets wrong is, selfishness and gun laws. The basis of the American Dream is a focus on what you want which is a generally a selfish want. And allowing everyone to arm up the way the USA do...
People have to be really careful what they ask for.
In no way am I a fan of Trump at all. He has put in a few common sense things that are good. But, he hasbeen divisive and exclusionary. And it can be argued that he has done a lot of short term gains for long term pains.
The DNC has to be smart about things and bring politics back to the center more rather than going way left. Right now the US is experiencing a farther right wing president then any p...
These are far from the only companies that have loot boxes in games. Although agree with you, this is an industry problem, not just a few companies.
@IRetrouk
OK. I will call it a niche then because that is what it is. I enjoy my oculus vr device but I have to admit it is a niche device. It collects dust about 90% of the year and then I get memorized by it for a small period and buy some of the vr games available. I really like it but it is just another device I bought that gathers dust (for the most part) now.
Selling 4.2 million of anything does not mean good sales. 4.2 million sales of video games is go...
So, what numbers are making VR mainstream and not just a niche?
There are 100 million PS4 consoles on the market. 4.2 million (Yes, that is less than 5%) have PSVR. On the PC Side there are 1.2 billion PC gamers. There is an estimated 4 million VR sales on PC. And this is over the 3 year period for PSVR and 4 year period for PC. And no, the VR price does not play into this, because if it was selling well the price would go down to encourage greater volume. That is the...
To me, streaming is only a feature of game subscription services. I will not pay to only stream (In fact, I stayed away from PSNow until they allowed downloads because that is a key feature for me). The subscription service has to have a list of games, and those games should be downloadable or streamable.
The writer of this article seems to be confusing subscription services with streaming services.
They seem to be talking about the issues with subscriptions not streaming services.
Gaikai is nothing compared to Azure and AWS. They had good streaming tech, but did not have the infrastructure for what the cloud is turning into.
It does not make sense for Sony to build out a worldwide cloud infrastructure just for their own gaming platform. And they can't compete with Azure and AWS in business, eCommerce, AI, etc. Sony is right to count on a much bigger player in the cloud then build out themselves.
I want to own my games and be able to stream them in certain circumstances as well.
These companies see the tech for the next 5-10 years when they make deals like this. I would think Sony did their homework. And lets face it, Microsoft would not be their first choice of a partner if they felt it was avoidable.
Yup, and Google is better because they keep track of everything you search and send it to the NSA. And Amazon's better because they keep track of everything you buy and send it to the NSA.
Sony of course is better because they keep track of everything you do on their PSN as well and send it to the NSA.
If you are about privacy then you definitely should not be on the internet in any way, shape, or form. Anyone who goes on the Internet and thinks t...
Not sure this is the best timing to go in this direction.
aka Publishing and multiple games in multiple genres. I would like to see them focus on a single game and do it well.
Any fanboys are bad whether it is Sony, MS, Nintendo, etc. All just follow blindly rather then seeing all these companies for what they really are.... Money making companies. They are all trying to take advantage of gamers to get more money.
Consoles will change after or during this generation dramatically. They have to evolve to survive no matter who manufactures them.
Right now every smart tv is based on android pretty much. They get more powerful to play AAA games, Stadia releases with a good android tv app and all TVs become consoles/tvs. Console sales plummet and the world moves on.
Even if a loot box ban became law, it is unlikely that it could hold up in courts very long.
There is no difference between loot boxes and sport or card games like (Magic The Gathering). If you ban loot boxes you would have to ban them as well to succeed in court.
Capcom is doing well and they are being smart. They have some great games this generation. But their remasters were garbage and were there just to take advantage of gamers.
You should get an award for probably the most down to earth comment I have seen for a Sony exclusive game!
