Your post also has problems.
Investors in publishers and developers are the ones driving the trends. Investors want the largest return possible. Therefore the developers and publishers they invest in only consider the ideas that are going to make them the money they are looking for.
Like it or not, AAA games are expensive to make. If an investor says, "I want a billion dollar idea" then that's what the developers and publishers will try t...
I really don't like that term, "The power of cloud". First in this case it is factually wrong. It is not about the power the cloud is providing, it is about "The accessibility of the cloud" is providing. It has little to do with power, it has more to with the improvements in networking technologies to higher speeds and less latency (which actually has nothing to do with Microsoft other then their participation in helping set networking standards). You run the same ...
The main reason they are the market leaser is two-fold.
First, the quality of their exclusive games whether it be first party or second party. And this piece is massive.
The second part (to a lesser extent) is the ineptness and screwups of their competition. Nintendo made a huge mistake with Wii U. It sold terrible and they had to go back to the drawing board. Then, XB... Well everyone seems to know their mistakes last gen. They improved the hardwar...

Just because a developer is working on a project called "Starfield" since 2013, does not mean all the resources available to the developer are dedicated to it. They could've started the team small for the first few years to work the game concept. Then, once they felt they had something started real development.
More and more development studios are prototyping game concepts way before they build the game to see if it will really work....
And how many times has Starfield been delayed. Please do let us know.
I wish every developer and publisher was more concerned about the people and the gaming experience then about ship dates and money.
I am hoping this as good or better then L4D.
That is not surprising with Bethesda shipping Starfield in 2022.
I know Bethesda has multiple teams, but to top ES5 Skyrim they have to do something massive. I don't expect ES6 until at least 2024.
We are seeing some trends emerging. AAA games that are big and built from the ground up new are taking 4-6 years to develop. Sequels taking advantage of existing engines are taking 2-3 years to develop.
For sure Excellent. But lets face it, we also knew the sun was going to shine again today. Bluepoint joining Sony is about that shocking.
This has been predicted pretty much since Demon's Souls was released.
@JEECE
OK.
I will admit that is really bad. For some reason as I read Far Cry, I was thinking Crysis.
MY STUPID POST OF THE YEAR.
LOL. Switch is still destroying both Sony and MS.
They are over 91 mln sold and there is no signs the Switch numbers are falling. Switch is well on its way to becoming the best selling console ever.
In that commercial they also showed, non-Microsoft phones, non-Microsoft Laptops, non-Microsoft Tablets, and non-Microsoft controllers (Touch controls, Razr Kishi for Phone, and PS for Laptop).
So why is it news that they showed a PS controller other then some media fanboy (claiming they are a gaming journalist) wants to add fuel to the fanboy wars. The focus of the commercial seemed to be games and being able to play anywhere on any device with many different accessories....
Everyone that owns a PS also owns a PC and doesn't care if it is XB exclusive. /s
XB has been trying to do this since the 360 days. With 360 they had some success with Blue Dragon and Lost Odyssey (I wish they would make a sequel to both). But, as with everything in the early XBO era they got away from what they are doing, and they have come back pretty good.
They haven't made any of their own original games in Japan, but they have brought a lot of Japanese games late in the XBO era (I especially like bringing all the Yakuza games across). It look...
I agree but at the same time I look at this as a lazy port.
Crytek set the graphical standard with Crysis. For years to come everything was compared to it. With this remaster I don't see that. Now, it is just another shooter. I would've expected that they again would push the boundaries of what is possible with the new version. Instead it is just a lazy remaster as far as I am concerned.
@Sciurus_vulgaris
I have starlink in rural Canada.
I get speeds from 75-185 mbps. And a ping in the 30-70 ms range. All with load as I have 3 HD cameras constantly recording to the cloud.
It has improved a ton since the beta was originally launched and now downtime is pretty limited.
Unfortunately for me the local telco provider is putting fiber in my rural property next week, so I will switch to a fiber 1.5 gbps link. So, e...
I think we saw what we needed from the campaign in 2020. Meaning they revealed the basis of the story and the environment for the story. They also showed gameplay which was also good. Yes, the graphics needed work, but it looks like that is being dealt with.
Ya, I really wanted to play PGA 2K21 but didn't want to pay the price.
@John_McClane
I believe in paying for services you use. You look at the console vendors and they run a network that tracks your gamer profile, does your games saves, and provides an environment for multi-player. The servers and infrastructure to do this is expensive and has to be paid for somehow.
I like a direct payment method rather then hiding the costs behind something else. No matter what they have to find a way to make money off the investments they make. ...
@rlow1
Agreed.
But Sony already has GamePass. It is PSNow. The only way they change though is if the first party games don't meet sales expectations for a large period of time. Then, they will have to change the model. As long as PS gamers going out and buy the original game, then in a few years the director's cuts, then remasters/remakes they have no reason to change the model. But if that model starts to dry up, then they will have to reconsider. <...
