Demon's Souls Resident Evil 2, and Final Fantasy VII would probably beg to differ.
I have GP and have bought the VIP add-ons. but I would call the game a masterpiece if it is such a game (Until I play it I won't know). But it cannot be called next gen.
Name one feature that is not in the XBO game that is in the XS version other then what is given by the hardware? In order for it to be next gen it should have something other then hardware that you wouldn't be able to do on XBO.... Can they have greater interaction with the environment? Does ...
That doesn't mean their plan is the right one. How many sales would they have had if they properly remade the game? Their plan gave them success, but how much more successful could it have been?
You can't call a game a "next-gen masterpiece" if it ships on the previous generation of consoles as well.
I think this is a great game, but to call it a next gen masterpiece is simply not true.
Reviewers certainly have a right to express how they feel.
But, I prefer reviewers to review the quality of the game. When they are making "it is nothing new" comments, that is not a statement of quality, they are looking for innovation. To me innovation is what gets you to a 10/10 game. FH5 is 91 on metacritic. To me, that is the right score here. It says it is a high quality game, but there is not enough innovation to be 95 on metacritic.
Personally, I think Halo MP already looks great and feedback from gamers seems to concur.
The question is around the campaign, the trailer this week on the campaign has made it look interesting. But we have to see it in action. The story looks like it has tons of potential. Execution is always a question though.
I probably won't buy it til it's more mature. Maybe when it is revamped PS6 and Next XB. /s
There is a lot that plays into this. Square could've asked Crystal Dynamics how long it would take them to make an Avengers game. And they said X. Then COVID-19 happened and I doubt that helped their development time, and Square is Square so they probably forced the game out. And Crystal didn't just say, "No it is not ready". So, this may have been more then just meets the eye to put the blame "squarely" on one party.
I don't see this as concerning yet. There is still announcement of when this game is coming out. Now, if MS said June 2022 for Perfect Dark I would be concerned. Because we have yet to see any gameplay. But my sense is that this is more like a 2024 or 2025 game.
Ya, I would really like to understand what development timeline was involved with the Marvel Avengers game. A lot of it could've been fixed I feel if they had more development time.
This year on XB....
Flight Simulator - 90 on Metacritic
Psychonauts 2 - 87 on Metacritic
Forza Horizon 5 - 91 on Metacritic
Pretty hard to say MS is not making great games for their console.
And the way Halo is looking it is hard to say. Campaign and Multiplayer is looking solid, but not sure how reviewers will go with a lack of co-op on day one.
I bought the digital VIP Premium add-on. That way I support Playground and get the VIP perks in the game plus the first two expansions.
To be fair, a lot of reviewers are handing out 100%'s on 'this game. IGN isn't lonely here.
I lost interest in racing games til Forza Horizon. It is the bar to which all other arcade racers should be measured.

By no stretch of the imagination am I pysch expert at all. My job as architect and development manager is solving problems. Almost all day and every day. I am more that I learned it by doing it it 10,000 times and failing probably 9,000 of them. LOL.
I have a rule, if I spend more then an hour on a problem I park it for the next day. A large amount of the times I do that, I come back to it and have it solved in minutes the next day.
Einstein's definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result. That's what people do when they work on a problem too long.
New Mombasa (where this map is set) is from Halo ODST. Looks very familiar if you've played ODST.
Agreed. I played the game for a few hours from GamePass recently and really it is garbage. You would think the studio behind Tomb Raider could do a lot better then that. The team there should be embarrassed on this game. It is extremely uninspired and generic. Nothing special to game there.
As much as I love Halo my first playthrough as traditionally been with my brother-in-law as co-op. Without co-op I probably won't play it until that feature is in.
That said, every showing seems to be making the game look better and better. I might cave and do a solo run first depending on what reviewers are saying about the solo campaign.
But it is still nowhere near Switch numbers. And XB is nowhere near PS5 numbers.
