Considering the technical hell his team went through for years to even get The Last Guardian working on PS4, I can't imagine he's chomping at the bit to add more consoles to the to-do list.
I think the average consumer has the ability to distinguish a mobile entry from a mainline one. It's not like people associate pokemon with micro transactions despite the success of Pokémon Go.
Spoken as someone with absolutely zero knowledge of what these guys at the "top of the food chain" have done for the past like 10 years. Guys like Miyamoto or Aonuma's barely had any involvement with the latest Mario and Zelda games respectively beyond just overseeing progress. They've practically already passed the torch to the next generation as we speak.
Because that's not racist right?
Ah yes, nothing screams "perfect fit" for a game premised on split second input/reactions like a device with no physical buttons...
Nintendo's not interested in doing it because they've already done it with Returns and Tropical Freeze.
I've always thought the series would fair better as an exploration game. It's a shame that gaming has pigeon holed anime games into fighters whether it was a good fit or not.
Even ignoring that you clearly haven't actually played the gaming and are pulling your opinion from thin air....you're comment still doesn't work. From an absolute objective point of view, Odyssey includes just about every single mechanic from prior 3d mario's in the past, and more often than not does them better. So while you might be able to say 64 or Sunshine is "better" (though I don't see how), in no way shape or form can you say you were excited for those a...
We'll see though. I AM a fan of the Switch, but I'll fully admit Pokémon and Smash are going to be harder sells than Mario and Zelda. For one, it took Nintendo rolling the dice for BOTH of the latter two for them to end up the 10/10's they did. Needless to say, Smash and Pokémon are two series that have played it as safe as you can humanly imagine, I have my doubts they'll do the same.
Also for Pokémon specifically, there's some odd appre...
People aren't "acting" like Nintendo is a generation ahead, they factually are. The Switch is 9th generation and Xbox One and PS4 are 8th. It's nothing to get your panties in a bunch about, it's a simple number that has zero bearing on any consoles technical prowess or games.
It's not like they have a long standing relationship with putting SMT games on Nintendo handhelds/consoles or anything right?
Uhh, it was announced when the Switch was announced. You know, the time where everybody and their mother thought the Switch was a trainwreck waiting to happen?
They don't get free passes. This might shock you, but there is a reason why the series are iconic, they are all typically top tier gaming experiences. Also did Mario not JUST go through a rough patch in literally the last core 3d Mario game, 3d world?
Also lol at "grown up and moved on from mario". Mario's a video game. Video game's are inherently something with no age group. In fact I know a lot more mature people playing Mario then I do one's pla...
The argument is that they don't DEPEND on them to work.
How are people going to "emulate" a console with two specific motion controlled controllers? By the time you finally build a set-up that can control it, you probably could have just gotten a switch for the same price.
Said it before here, but I don't see how Xenoblade 2 could ever be on the level of BOTW or Odyysey. The first Chronicles game wasn't even a 10/10, and "2" is showing a list of problems the first didn't have. Such as the weird artstyle direction.
And simply from a conceptual standpoint, JRPG's are inherently less accessible to the average consumer than something like Mario or Zelda.
It's because Marvelous, the company who made all of the "good" Harvest moon games, aren't the ones making it. Basically they left and created Story of Seasons, which most view as the real continuation of the series.
How did I never think of JSRF when reading this?! That game is going is going to look absolutely unreal due to not really using textures other than the graffiti.
In fairness, Skyward Sword is a first party Nintendo title, with exceptional texture work, and is from a generation ahead of the OG Xbox. It's not really a good comparison and needless to say, a lot of upscaled Xbox games will not look that nice.(still a cool thing, don't get me wrong)
Well as I understand it, this was made by the people who made Generations and Colors, so...yeah. I think the problem probably lies at the top of the food chain. Too much butting heads creatively, combined with probably less than stellar budgets/development time, and the result is the developers themselves pay for it.
