A bang? This is widely recognized by most hardcore Pokemon fans as the most uninspired "3rd" version, and an all around mediocre title. The majority of buyers were people who didn't own the original Sun and Moon in the first place.
Wow, you mean the game they announced as coming 2018 or later, might be coming in 2018?! What shocking news.
Not even a year into release, the Switch already has an answer for pretty much ever single great Wii game outside of Smash and metroid.
Mario Kart Wii - Mario Kart 8 Deluxe
Mario Galaxy - Mario Odyssey
DK Returns - DK Tropical Freeze
Skyward Sword - BOTW
Xenoblade - Xenoblade 2
Tatsunoko Vs Capcom - Pokken Tournament
Needless to say, I'm not worried.
Agreed. There's stuff like the color coordination of the original that seem to be completely lost on the remakers. But hey, what do you expect from a cash grab remake that has no reason for existing?
Same. Devil Survivor 1 and 2 really opened my eyes to just how natural SMT games feel on handheld devices. The games are lengthy by design, so the ability to take a break whenever you want is rather nice.
Um, maybe because those titles were MADE for a mobile architecture? That's like asking why Sony didn't port over Eye Toy games to the ps4.
@Concertoine Except it didn't limit their ability to publish, because the Wii was so different than the competition architexture/power wise that developers wouldn't be considering making a multi-platform game on it in the first place. Instead 3rd party made individual titles tailored to that system. (unfortunately the bulk of which were just mini-game collections, but you get my point)
It's more of an issue on the Switch, where its almost close enough to the com...
I know I'll get flack for it, but I don't like it. To be clear, I think under regular circumstances the graphics of the upgraded version are fine. But the original SOTC was a different case, the graphics for its time pushed the ps2 beyond anything else both technically and artistically. This on the other hand while serviceable, is pretty much par for the course in terms of ambition.
They certainly had the opportunity to. Unfortunately this is another case like gen.6 where Gamefreak's own self imposed release schedule cut short what needed another couple months of polish. So much of the game's new features, such as the battle tree or alolan forms, ended up being nothing more than marketing ploys because the game never even scratches the surface of what they could do.
What's worse is they had the chance to remedy all of this with Ultra Sun/M...
Lol. "Gorgeous". This looks like a college student's first one week project in Unity.
Maybe you should take into account that they DIDN'T show "lame artwork"? A fan uploaded camera shots he wasn't supposed to from an event. This wasn't a press release on their part.
I'll take something like BOTW with incredible art direction at 720p over 90% of your "realistic" full fledge AAA crud that will be outdated in 3 years.
I tried the game on the DS after hearing all of the hype, but just could not get into it. The story/characters were fine, but the battle system is just a complete mess and makes no sense.
To be honest the graphical style is very polarizing. Some of the early shots look reminiscent of GCN era Nintendo games, let alone Wii U ones. But on the hand shots such as the Petey Piranha fight look very modern and sleek, with great color/light coordination.
I mean to be fair, laying out 2018 in the same way they laid out 2017's major releases would have been a smart idea. Of course they can still do that anytime over the next couple months.
Well, if you believe what they say, each one of these episodic releases is supposed to be roughly the size of the entirety of the original game. Needless to say, something that big would still take a long time to make, regardless of whether or not it's a fraction of the whole game.
Kefka is the complete opposite of a nuanced character. He was a completely one dimensional character who was evil for the sake of being evil. Fortunately Square learned from this when it came time to make 7, and created Sephiroth, who took the best parts of Kefka's lunacy and all around unlikeability, but added in a huge backstory that shows how he got from point A to point B.
They're not tapping into a new market, they're simply winning back all of the people who grew up with and/or loved Nintendo, but lost their faith in them between the gamecube - wii U eras. And thanks to the portability factor and exclusives, people who already own current gen consoles aren't minding picking one up too. Plus keep in mind Nintendo is slowly but surely working on mobile games themselves.
I mean, is it really surprising? Nintendo has more or less housed the Sonic franchise since Sega stopped making their own consoles, to the point where it consistently crosses over with Nintendo franchises.(SSB, Mario and Sonic Olympic games, etc.)
I think it's one of the worst looking entries for that reason. I'd put a lot of ps2 or gamecube entries like "Grand Battle" far ahead of this one.
