The bridges the Switch is rebuilding between Nintendo and developers is worth more than the Switch's lifetime sales ever will.
And trust me, I'm making no excuses for their numbers. I think they'll be pretty pathetic if compared against Nintendo's usual, combined console and handheld numbers actually. But I think people discount just how bad of a position Nintendo was in with the Wii U. It's gonna take a breather generation for them to recuperate.

And your point is...what exactly? The Last Guardian IS a game that uses physics and rigging impossible to pull off on older technology. So, he was telling the truth then, and probably is now.
I know this is an odd thing to complain about being a long time fan, but it almost seems TOO similar to the old games. Like Dante is just using a bunch of weapons and abilities from prior games here. From what we've seen so far, the game isn't doing much to advance the series, it's just trying a bunch of fan-service to win back old fans after DMC.
Stop being dramatic, FF7 would have been just fine on the n64. The game was literally started as a Snes title in fact. While I have a place in my heart for FF7's unique visuals like everyone else, the graphics were the last thing that made the game what it was. Story, music, and the battle system, all things the N64 could handle, were.
Well, Nintendo has always allowed 3rd parties to publish mature games on their consoles.
The narrative won't change until Nintendo themselves do a first party game that is truly more mature than what they've done in the past.

Wii U lasted the typical 5 year Nintendo console lifespan. It was an unequivocal failure sure, but it was not cut short.

Eh, the supposed Wii name confusion thing was just something Nintendo's marketing division conjured up to try and cover the Wii U's failure. The "Super" NES had no trouble selling. The Gameboy "Advance" had no trouble Selling. The "3"DS sold extremely well (after a rocky start, due more to the 3d gimmick).

That's more a testament to just how undesirable the Wii U was as a concept, more than it is about the quality of its games.
Also, Wii U game quality was never in question during it's lifespan, the frequency of them was.

I disagree. FF found its identity with the whole steampunk look around FF6/7. DragonQuest already has the medieval theme down pat, and does it better than FF could ever hope to.
That and, people are making it out as because a couple big rom sites go down, those roms suddenly don't exist.
In reality, 99% of those ROMs are still available SOMEWHERE online, just no longer in one easy, convenient location.
