This whole article is just terrible. They spend the entire time trying to pin the Wii U's failure on market confusion, soley so they could use the clickbait title of a doomsday scenario for the Switch. When in reality, market confusion had nothing to do with the Wii U's failure. Lack of 3rd party support, unappealing system/controller design, and underpoweredness compared to competition did.
Second idea they tried to push was that compatibility confusion would kill ...
Some Grade A salt from the writer of legendary N4G articles like "Nobody really cares about Nintendo". Hey Prank, question, how well did this little excerpt of yours age?
"as Nintendo fans and the media become ever more desperate in upholding an optimistic facade that clearly seeks to perpetuate the false belief that the Switch is anything but a desperate attempt by the company that is hoping to maintain some semblance of relevancy in an industry that has lon...
I bet you expect the earth to be flat, too.
"Devil May Cry with guns"...a.k.a Devil May Cry.
I'll never understand why Capcom are seemingly overlooked as developers. When you account for the sheer amount of titles they produce in comparison to other companies, they perhaps have the best track record across the board.
They probably have been, which is why they weren't working on Prime 4 from the get-go.
Not gonna lie, the battle system looks like an absolute blast, and has me optimistic about FF7 remake's which seems to use the same engine.
They just do not learn when it comes to their "3D" ventures do they?
The Ninja Theory DMC was that bad yes. A lifeless reimagining of a.series that didn't need one, with cookie cutter AAA tropes added in.
DMC4 however was just fine. A small step down from 3, but still great.
Ah yes, Final Fantasy and Metal Hear franchises, that Nintendo definitely didn't give a chance to before Sony...
Microsoft: "Xbox Scarlett is so powerful, it will natively upgrade the dog jpeg to a png!"
You've clearly never bought a Nintendo product, which are absolutely littered with safety manuals and disclaimers. But hey, it's N4g, gotta deflect any criticism of Sony somehow right?
It's less that the current systems are more appealing than usual, than it is that buying a new system is less appealing. The technical jump between generational systems is smaller than ever. It's easy to sell people on the difference between a PS2's capability and a PS1's. It won't be with a PS5 compared to 4.
The switch selling great despite being blatantly weaker than 5 year old consoles is proof.
Not true. Nintendo's mobile game venture is basically the spiritual successor to them having a handheld line.
While there are a bunch of things I could nitpick still about Nintendo or the Switch, I can safely say it's just great to see them return to form after the Wii U disaster. I really enjoy the "Big 3" dynamic and hope it doesn't go away anytime soon.
Yeah well, no 3d goes against the nature of a system called the 3DS, and look what happened there.
Because they're too busy making innovative artstyle's like Wind Waker or BOTW, that AAA and indie studios alike are still copying to this day.
But hey, screw that, let's just make it the 5 billionth AAA game to have realistic graphics. A graphical style the Switch wouldn't even do justice in the first place.
Because they actually like to make their games look good, and not like half baked Unity "my first game" demos.
I always hate this argument. You know what you got for buying the game day 1? The ability to play the game before people who have to buy the ports.
I like how you can immediately tell when someone on N4g doesn't even own a switch as they bash it. If graphical fidelity is that important to someone, they would have known not to buy a Switch from the get-go.
It's like buying an Xbone and then complaining about lack of JRPGs.
