It would have been fantastic if they'd done all that and kept the gameplay more or less the same, it would have been a great path to find a way to build on one of the best RPGs of recent years. Unfortunately instead we're getting a lot of FF7 themed bullshit.
Everyone who makes a new zombie game thinks they've done something so unique with the genre that it transcends such simple classification, but no it's still a zombie game. Zombie doesn't have to mean mindless being that just stands there drooling, there are loads of different takes on it.
Anyway, that aside the game is shaping up really well, I appreciate what they're doing with the story by trying to make it into a character driven piece rather than a sand...
"clinging on to some late 90s nostalgia"
Ironic criticism seeing as that quote describes Nintendo perfectly.
Can't believe this series is still going, I was born in 83 and even as a kid these games were known to be rubbish. Since then the internet has provided us with more porn than we know what to do with so why anyone would want to play this is beyond me.
Time for me to stop clicking these articles the point was beaten to death some time ago. I was looking for a Miyazaki quote yesterday and identical articles to this from 2012 were popping up.
I think if you're mature enough to be at a point in life that you don't have much time to game you're mature enough to have the patience to take your time with a game. Open world games are fine, good value for money and even if you only get half an hour it's usually enough to do a couple of missions or have a relaxing mooch about.
There's no rush. Through in a few bite size short but sweet games and you've got a nice mix.
The president of From, Hidetaka Miyazaki, who has overseen their best games and is responsible for their identity said this last year:
"We don't want to include a difficulty selection because we want to bring everyone to the same level of discussion and the same level of enjoyment. So we want everyone … to first face that challenge and to overcome it in some way that suits them as a player."
So to answer your question no they aren't goi...
I thought Lords of the Fallen was mechanically sound but it was a total rip off that did nothing as well as Souls does and didn't have two original ideas to rub together. Ironically considering what a blatant clone it was it had no soul.
Salt and Sanctuary was also strongly inspired by Souls but the gameplay was fantastic and it forged its own path, plenty of its own personality.
Well said.
More like you bought a house without seeing it first (reading a review) but if you had you'd know what you were in for before you handed over any money.
Agreed, great concept and they pulled it off too but it was a bit cheesy and cliched. Didn't ruin it by any means but there was room for improvement in that area.
Demon's Souls came out ten years ago and they've made several games since of the same difficulty so I don't think we're going anywhere. I believe they were making unusually tough games before DS too.
Besides, their company president and all round legend Miyazaki said this:
"We don't want to include a difficulty selection because we want to bring everyone to the same level of discussion and the same level of enjoyment. So we want ...
From obviously feel that an easy mode would dilute the experience and what their games are all about and I agree.
Logically it'd be easier if the story in their games was spelled out in cutscenes with lengthy exposition but instead they leave it to the player to do the work and piece it together from scraps of lore they have to find themselves often with great difficulty.
People need to realise that sometimes something just isn't for them and mov...
I'd have rather had Finchy than Conan, one of the indies I've got half an eye on for when I've got time. Is there any precedent for Asian only PS+ games making their way into other regions eventually?
They've never compromised and have unwaveringly stayed true to their vision, I respect that. As soon as they start making concessions they're taking steps towards mediocrity. Stick to your guns From and crack on with producing top class games.
These articles are funny, I assume someone's cage is rattled.
That good hey.
Yeah From games are difficult, everyone knows that. It's like buying a Lamborghini and complaining it's too hard to drive.
Always thought The Surge would be one to not bother buying because it'll be on PS+ and here it is. Same for Lords of the Fallen which I quite liked, pretty sure the Surge is better from what I've heard.
Why do you have to be one of the devs of this specific game to know what kind of challenges people face who are making a game. You don't.
