I'm not so sure. It's not been specifically stated that ROTTR will be released on PS platforms. Phil Spencer only spoke of the franchise as a whole not this particular game. Technically speaking Dead Rising 3 and Ryse were timed exclusive to Xbox before being released on PC, the exclusion of PS platforms for those games remains indefinitely. This could be the case with ROTTR but it won't be clarified as they now know it'd be a PR disaster.
My solution is simply not to buy them all at release. I'll be getting Destiny then AC Unity which puts Shadow of Mordor and Dragon Age on my backlog. I doubt I'll be finished those before Witcher 3 comes out so that'll be back logged also. I'm set for the next year I'd say! :)
I agree with your suspicion about quality and your opinion of Watch Dogs but that won't stop me preordering AC Unity. Ubisoft is an enormous publisher/developer with a large number of studios. I'm sure there's some cross-over but essentially the people that made Watch Dogs are not the same people that make AC games who are again not the same people that make Dance Central or Rayman or Trials or Child of Light or Splinter Cell or...
I hope you're right.
Those games were only "exclusive" because Playstation dominated the market back then. Sony wasn't stopping them publishing elsewhere.
That was difficult to read! I hope English is not the author's first language.
It's really just an opinion piece.
So would you class yourself as the casual buyer you describe that was sold on the most powerful console angle?
If so is it the casual nature of your gaming hobby that drew you to Xbox One? As a casual gamer were you happy to get the less powerful console that has more non-gaming features? You may have been MS's target market, unfortunately for them that market is a lot smaller than during the Wii's hay day.
I don't think it'll get to 260 million like last gen. The Wii sold remarkably well to people that'd never bought a console in their life. However, I feel a lot of those people have no interest whatsoever in upgrading to next gen consoles. Some stopped gaming and others are happy with their smartphones and tablets. You're second estimate of 200+ million is probably more likely but I think that might be the upper estimate, lower being close to 150 million.
There's no confirmation of a PS4 release. This could be just like Ryse and DR3. Timed exclusive to Xbox then released on PC but never on PS4.
Phil Spencer practically said as much here "Clearly, I'm not going to invest in something to make games great on other platforms. Windows stuff I will. But not on stuff on other consoles. That's 101." ( 4189d ago 1 agree3 disagreeView comment
Only some areas hitting 30fps on consoles is a worry. Maybe the developer isn't used to optimisating their code as you can just rely on brute force with a PC game. After all they didn't release Witcher 2 on PS3 because it was too unlike a PC for them.
Hopefully they'll delay a second time if need be. Sucks for PC though as I'm sure their deal with MS calls for at least a simultaneous release on Xbox and PC. It probably only got delayed in the first place becau...
Microsoft aren't promoting the game out of the goodness of their heart. They're promoting the game for exclusive content which would have been secured in contract. I prefer Project Red's approach to exclusive content than the typical in-game exclusives such as Sony and Bungie's deal for Destiny promotion/support.
I think it's because they've aligned with the minority console and now they need to appease to vocal majority. I haven't seen Bungie justify the exclusive Destiny content Sony secured with their deal.
Exactly my thought. I frequent Bengie's Destiny forum and there's not even a whisper of a PC release. Coming here was the first I've heard of it. This quote certainly hasn't come from Bungie although it's made to sound official.
I agree regarding the PS4 titles but PS3 and Vita have remained great. I'm hoping that as the PS4 ages we'll start to see AAA titles on PS+.
I have to disagree. Downloaded a 1080p 60fps video from here yesterday ( http://www.gamersyde.com/th... before it was pulled due to embargo. When indoors they look quite similar but once outside and the draw distance has increased the remastered version makes the PS3 version look kind of blurry and out of focus. I also noticed that the lightin...
I think Black Flag was quite popular, especially compared to ACIII. I don't know how it did sales wise but I do know everyone I speak to really liked it.
I hope these events are more considerate of other time zones in the future. It ran from 1am to 3am in Australia.
It's used a lot in my line of work. GUIs are far too limited in functionality.
I think you might be rights. It's exactly what DR3 and Ryse are as well. Exclusive to Xbox and PC defined by the exclusion of PS platforms.
