While they didn't approach WoW numbers, LotRO and Aion are far from "fails." They are both still going strong (Aion much more so in Korea than US).
Also, Guild Wars was successful, but was nowhere close to WoW in it's entire run. I don't know if numbers were ever given after (doubt they would be a lot higher), but in 2009, ArenaNet said they had sold 6 million games in the Guild Wars series, which includes expansions. WoW has about 11-12 million sub...
Fair enough, it's your opinion and while I think you are harsh, I can't knock someone's opinion.
However, it seems at least a little evident that you haven't looked into SWTOR very much.
It's not turn-based, which I think is a phrase/style you are misusing, since turn based would imply that you use a skill, then the enemy uses a skill, then you use a skill. I don't think I've ever played a turn-based MMO, honestly. Unless GW2 is ...
I'm not sure why you would say that unless it's just a troll comment.
First off, SWTOR is more likely to be a success than GW2. You can deny this, but even if you think for certain GW2 will be a better game, SWTOR has a lot more going for it that will allow it to garner more followers, at least initially (ie., It's a Bioware game which is much more commercial than ArenaNet. It's an MMO based off of Star Wars. Being a sci-fi, rather than fantasy MMO, it ha...
Well, Sony owns Naughty Dog now (they didn't when Crash was made), so it would be Sony's decision on whether or not to sell the Uncharted IP, which I can guarantee won't happen.
@jdfoster00
I agree with most of what you said, but the PSP has sold about 70 million, not 30 (unless you meant something else?).
Adblock works just as well in Firefox, just as an FYI. Great app though, for whatever browser you use.
I will probably buy the game, simply because I want a good (or hope for a good) JRPG.
However, I am not overly optimistic simply because they are making it like Dragon Quest 8 (my favorite in the series) since Level5 is not working on it.
Even though Horii is working on the game, Squenix has yet to prove in about 7+ years that they are able to make a really good non-handheld game by themselves.
@lil Titan
Well, it's not like the ps3 would suddenly vanish when the ps4 comes out. Think of the ps2 when the ps3 came out. 2013 would be 7 years. It's completely believable the ps3 would remain going for 3 more years afterwards, greatly dwindling each year, as did the ps2.
Wait wait... You mean they are gonna have a Ridge Racer game at launch on the Vita? I never would have guessed! /s ;)
Looks really good. Always wondered why there is always a Ridge Racer at console launch on most systems, but never any after the launch title. Would think they could make something even better after a console/handheld has been out a few years.
"...and Boggs never walked again. They transferred him to a minimum security hospital upstate. To my knowledge, he lived out the rest of his days drinking his food through a straw."
You can replace "Boggs" with one of the hackers' names for the effect.
Never heard of this one. Even if the trailer is all CGI, it's pretty awesome and leaves me very interested. Thanks for the link.
Sometimes he's overly harsh and sometimes the opposite. I don' think that's really the case though. He's proven time and again that he's really just out of touch with what the average gamer enjoys. In other words, in my opinion, he just has terrible taste in games quite often. Good news for me though, is I am easily able to ignore his reviews when deciding on a game.
On topic, on this game, while it probably doesn't deserve a 2/10, I never for a se...
Yeah, I don't know how someone who probably got to play the game for 5 min (or 20 min, or whatever) can make an accurate determination about a game that probably has 500+ hours of gameplay.
Also, just from the quote it seems the guy has an agenda against MMOs. Like he was somehow pissed off at them before he even started playing it.
@evrfighter If you are really in the beta, you son of a ... ;)
That's the first thing I thought when I read the title, and the article says after saying he's pretty much a confirmed character in the game:
"Not only that, boy wonder's suggested to be a "playable character" in two challenge maps when pre-ordering from the retailer."
Honestly, I don't see how this is a big deal. Robin wouldn't play much differently than Batman, so this isn't the same as the ps3 exclusive Joker ch...
I too have no major problems with the list. I don't completely agree with it, but they also aren't saying that Bioshock Infinite is the best game, just the best of the show, which probably just means the game they are most looking forward too.
While I think this E3 sucked, there were a LOT of games I am looking forward to and I will probably be buying that were shown there.
@Nathan
Very well may, but that's a real snub to The Witcher 2, which is the current RPG of the year by a mile till Skyrim proves otherwise. I may even consider it as the front runner for GotY so far, along with Portal 2, in my opinion, of course (The year is no even half over, obviously).
Heh, was thinking the same thing. I've played both games now. I've beat The Witcher 2 already and played Infamous 2 a few hours now. So basically Edge is just reaffirming what they have proven in the past, they don't know what they are talking about the vast majority of the time and quite often have terrible taste in games.
While I am too cautious of past Squenix failures to be overly optimistic about FFXIII-2, I will keep an eye on it. I agree that Tomb Raider looked pretty good.
That being said, I see nothing wrong with speaking bad about Squenix, as they have deserved it for years now. No FFvsXIII was very annoying, which they know is the title most people are interested in, but I guess (would hope) they are saving it for TGS. The problem is that some people are still strong-willed Squenix...
I think the fact that Oblivion was so much NOT focused on storyline was one of it's only weaknesses (that and appalling character models =P ). It's the reason The Witcher 2 is a much more appealing style of game to me. However, W2, while also open-world, is a much smaller game. So, if Skyrim can have the same quality level of storyline AND keep it's huge level of exploration (albeit with more interesting dungeon design and side-quest story writing), we could have something very...
If you mean disappointing as in too much, not much I can say. However, if you mean disappointing as in not enough, I'm curious.
If what they say about the 200 hours being just the leveling part, by yourself (which you can level all the way up solo if you want, as in most MMOs now), that's more than most MMOs. WoW, Rift, Aion, LotRO, AoC, etc. all takes less than that to level up if you don't do crafting/raiding. It's about 8 1/2 days played time, and that s...
