Well, to be fair to the bar attendees, none of them, or all of them together, would stand a chance if they tried to stop him. ;)
Batman:AA was an awesome game, but there is no way it was better than Uncharted 2, although it probably was the second best game out that year.
That being said, I don't disagree that Arkham City might be a really good contender for GotY, especially if they improved on variety (one of the main weaknesses of the first). GotY this year is gonna be very tough no matter what the other awesome games coming out this year do.
That's also making an assumption that they will lose a lot of those orders.
You can't site precedence and apply it to this game as a guarantee. Age of Conan, Warhammer Online, etc. all had pretty big pre-orders (not close to this big though) and lost a lot of subscribers, but that was because the games were full of bugs, lacking in content (specifically end game), unpolished, etc. So, yes, if SWTOR has those same problems it will probably lose subscribers. Howeve...
Some of the points are valid. However, many of the comments here are making a point on skin color, which is not important. A white American is far closer to a black American than they are to a white Russian in terms of ethnicity. That doesn't mean there shouldn't be less stereotypes, because I think that's the real problem, more so than lack of representation.
Honestly, going by population and playing the percentages every video game character should be either ...
Sadly, that may be a little optimistic for FFvsXIII, but let's hope not (in terms of release date).
Handhelds have had some really good JRPGs, but many people don't enjoy playing an RPG for hours and hours on a 3in screen.
Don't get me wrong, there have been some that have been worth it, but it's still a shame so few have been made for consoles.
Yeah, really. Why would the sequel to one of the most well received games in history, winner of more awards than any game in history be the most anticipated game this fall? I guess to the average person, it's all about sales, not what the most likely best game will be (or what the author of the article's most anticipated game is).
I would agree that Gears of War 3 should have been there, if it was released in the Fall, but it comes out tomorrow, and Fall is still 4 ...
@NathanExplosion
To be fair, Warhammer 40k is about 25 years old, and the Space Marines are pretty much the most popular group in the game world. That's not saying they didn't use that title to draw in purchases, but they honestly have the right to.
Should point out, I don't really have much interest in the game itself though...although I do like what little we've seen on the upcoming (2014+?) Warhammer 40k MMO.
I'm sure Skyrim will be a contender, but that wasn't the point to the article. It's asking whether or not Portal 2 will be a contender, not if it will likely win.
There will be plenty of contenders. Some have come out already (Portal 2, Witcher 2, etc.) and some yet to come out (Skyrim, Uncharted 3, Gears 3, etc.). I see no reason to not include Portal 2 as a contender. It's a great game and the critics and players alike both loved it (I know I did).
IF (big "if") this is true, the are the slowest big name developers out there, because that's ridiculous. Most likely, as most here seem to agree, this is complete BS.
Honestly though, this news doesn't really bother me as long as the game is good and fleshed out to begin with.
I love the look of this game. So artistically pleasing in portraying "fun." Fun is what this game screams, too, when watching that E3 gameplay trailer (I'm pretty sure it was E3?).
If so, "he's" very suspicious.
@fluffydelusions
If the game sucks, like FFXIV very much did, it will lose the subscriptions.
However, I haven't seen anything from TOR that would suggest it will suck. It seems like it's playing it safe on the gameplay, but taking big risks with the story route. In other words, it's gonna be like WoW with a more interwoven storyline (obviously the gameplay is somewhat different, ie., space combat, etc.). While that may not appeal to all, to th...
It seems very "cool" right now to hate on FFXIII, simply because it didn't live up to expectations. That doesn't make it a bad game. I enjoyed it for the most part and it's one of the few good JRPGs released in the past few years outside of handhelds.
The game had its flaws, and it is a lesser game amongst masterpieces in the series, but so are more than 95% of all other JRPGs. 9/10 (this score) may be a bit high, but I think the game does deserve a...
Did most of you all not read the article?
Based on what was said, it seems they are saying the combat will be more "action-adventure-y" in that it will flow more smoothly along the lines of an Uncharted or GeoW style game, but it also says, quote:
"..whilst on top of that adding in these RPG elements that maybe people were upset we didn't focus on as much in Mass Effect 2 - it strikes a balance."
I understand the skept...
"Batman: Arkham City: Collector's Edition: The One Fans Deserve"
...but is it the one we need, right now?
@TheMutator
While your comment is clearly trolling and bashing someone (Nomura) for no reason, I will bite.
Sakaguchi is great and is definitely the man responsible for Final Fantasy being realized. You should learn though, he has not been the main man behind any Final Fantasy since FFV, since after that he became VP of Squaresoft and had other duties. While no doubt still very much involved in all FFs till 12, he was never the director. (Don't wanna...
Just because a game is played in First-Person mode does not make it an FPS.
Well, as someone already pointed out in a previous post, the article states that the 200 hours does not include crafting, raiding and multiplayer.
The crafting and raiding are obvious, but I can only guess that "multiplayer" would be instances and pvp.
So, that 200 hours would pretty much be the leveling aspect including the "personal" story for the class. That's a pretty good amount of time. This also means that there is definit...
Yeah, re-watch the commercial, and every time they say "Michael" just replace it with your name, and it will make perfect sense.
