@Tobesan: Re-read what I wrote!
In my post I was talking about potential announcements, obviously I haven't got a clue exactly what Sony's 1st party studios are up to, outside of announced stuff or developers like Cory Barlog coming out and stating outright that God of War is in development for PS4.
Also PSX is about Playstation gamers, it's a PS focused event, for people that know identify with who Sony's developers are, identify with Sony's partners and w...

The potential at PSX is huge.
From Worldwide Studios this is what could be shown in the way of entirely new PS4 announcements(obviously not all of it would, but possibilities):

1)Bend's New IP is announced.
2)Santa Monica show God of War for PS4.
3)Santa Monica show a new IP for PS4.
4)Sucker Punch announces a new Infamous.
5)Sucker Punch announces a new IP.
6)Sony London reveals that 8 Days is on PS4.
7)Sony London ...

@Crimzon:

Clearly I wasn't talking about the online aspects of the game, although you're talking rubbish.

Evolution were talking about the level of detail in their game and that is why it couldn't be done until PS4 came along, because a console running that kind of tech couldn't be done until PS4 came along.

From an online connectivity POV Driveclub offers constant challenges for players, based on drifting, speed, driving skil...

Evolution are still a top notch studio though, some hiccups with a technologically ambitious game on a new platform are to be expected.

Rushy is talking about the technology side of things and that they can do more with the PS4's hardware.
He confirmed close to the release of the game last year that Driveclub wasn't really using much of the Asynchronous Compute tech.

GT Sport and 7 will no doubt push the visual benchmark for a racing game, whi...

That will be CD Projekt Red's next game, Cyberpunk 2077, of course ND could make a great game in that style, but I think they'd rather do something unique, like they did with The Last of us and the whole spin on post apocalyptic environments, with mutated Humans.

I think we'll likely get a sequel to The last of Us or some new story in that setting (seems a great idea to stick with Ellie and Joel though, since there's so much more that can be told with their ar...

Sony will never sell them, considering Sony comes out on top basically every generation, bar one since they joined the console space they'll likely be the last platform creator to remain in the business.

It'll only ever be if Sony pulls out of the console race that they'd consider letting ND make games for other platforms.

Sony loves to build their developer portfolio though. If they did ever leave the console hardware business they'd probably...

I think people are hugely overstating what the costs of VR could be.
Really the components involved are not that different to something like a handheld and tablets can be bought for less than $200 that have 1080p output, with far larger screens that Playstation VR has.

I mean you have a screen, some sensors, LEDs and a frame to fit the thing on someone's head.
OLED panel tech has massively reduced in costs and improved in capabilities since Vita released. ...

@Flash81: Either because he wasn't supposed to say anything or because it's to blow up interest for the conference and get the core PS audience talking about why he would write anything and then delete the comment on Twitter. ;)

3 weeks from Saturday, pretty awesome!

London haven't released a AAA console game for over a generation, they're also at PSX and they're Sony's 2nd biggest studio, could very well have more than just The London Heist in development.
Maybe we'll finally see The Getaway and Eight Days have been taken off hold and moved to PS4. ;)

Santa Monica have also been listed for PSX, Cory Barlog has been back at the studio since August 2013, he...

Supposedly there's some very talented programmers at Bend.
According to Shinobi602 it's a PSX or E3 style announcement, with Eric Jensen stating "it's happening", he could just be saying that PSX is happening and he's going to be part of a team of people talking about development in general, but it seems pretty likely the time for their reveal could be upon us.

Bend are one of those studios that the core PS audience would be interested in and...

I think the 240Z only has about 151BHP, so it's probably not powerful enough or packing a large enough engine to be classed as a muscle car.

I don't even know if you'd call it a sports coupe.
More like a coupe, Sung Kang (the guy than played Han in Fast & Furious: Tokyo Drift, 4, 5 and 6) may have modded his to put out more horsepower, but as standard they're not powerful enough to be classed as a Muscle Car.

Hopefully a trailer featuring that and details on the Beta will come at PSX.

The car looks funky!

@TheCommentator:

You think you know.
The fact that you act like DX12 is really going to make much of a difference shows you're not really understanding the subject.

PS4's memory BW was never 135-140GB/s, it's actually confirmed by Stewart Gilray from Just Add Water to be 172GB/s.

The Sony slides don't show that 135-140GB/s is max bw, it's just an example of a 1 sec slice of BW usage, not pushing the memory to the m...

@UltraNova:

I'll try my best to answer your questions.

It's going to be a guess on my part, but I really don't think Sony felt the need to improve the clock speed of PS4, given that the GPU is already faster, along with Memory, plus the additional Asynchronous Compute Hardware allows for more fine grain control of compute workloads anyway.
The GPU being able to handle some of the CPU processes and PS4 having more hardware in the GPU area m...

TBH the developers need to work on exactly what they need to render per frame, to get a certain effect, also what's the most efficient rendering technique they can use to achieve the best results at the highest possible frame rate that most people's displays can handle.

If Studios worked more on how they scale their assets as players get closer to objects and when they can actually perceive details then they'd probably gain back the processing time needed to both ...

@TheCommentator:

MS boosted the clock speed of their CPU and the GPU, not eSRAM (the speed of that is separate from those other boosts and no additional speed boost happened for eSRAM.
CPU went from 1.6GHz, to 1.75GHz, a little under 10% better then before launch.

Technically eSRAM is just designed to be a flexible cache, to help alleviate the DDR3 bandwidth bottleneck, but it's a small pool and thus it's only really useful for small, fast cha...

Things don't necessarily need to be cut from visuals, rather developers need to work on improving their streaming technology, to apply the visuals needed at a given moment.

What assets really need to be rendered when you're walking around a world?
How much of that object needs to be worked on at that given moment of rendering time?

If you're constantly throwing everything you can at the screen then of course your performance is going tank....

As I wrote in the Gamingbolt comments section:

"ROPs matter when game engines are built to use them (which is the case for all 3rd party game engines and most from platform holder's studios), of course there are techniques like Media Molecule are using for Dreams, which don't use ROP hardware at all, instead they're using the GPU Compute Hardware because their rendering techniques don't require rasterization.

PS4 would always be faster at...

I remember when I bought my PS4 at launch, ended up having to call my local store to see if they had enough stock at launch for me to be able to get mine at launch, they were meant to call all of the people who pre-ordered them to let you know whether you'd have a system or not.

Canceling pre-orders for the biggest game of the year is completely unacceptable!

You'd think they would have learned after almost going under a short while ago, the company was almost dead in 2012, but they got lucky when Nordic Games bought out a bunch of branches (55 according to wikipedia).

Their high prices are the reason why they don't really get much in the way of business nowadays.

When you can get Black Ops 3 for £42 on Amazon, why would you buy it at Game for £49.99?

£7.99 may not sound lik...
