@fr0sty: As much as I like Switch and will be getting one to play SM+RKB, Super Mario Odyssey, etc it's not really using a modern Processor, it's confirmed to have a Tegra X1, which initially released in Q2 of 2015, todays tech is something like the FX-9800p from AMD, which despite being a 28nm part can basically run games PS4 manages at 1080p at 720p, using the same power as Switch consumes, that released in like Q4 2016.
Sony could probably have AMD tweak the desi...
The numbers are out there for people to see, 1.5% of game time was used on BC last gen and it was deemed as more important to change processing architecture to a more developer friendly type of technology, while I've held the opinion that it's probably technically feasible to emulate PS3 on PS4 by writing a virtual machine to run Power PC code through Jaguar, but SPEs and RSX on the GPU, it's probably by no means straightforward or a fast thing to work on.

Nintendo have had access to the same hardware vendors as everyone else forever, if they had wanted the successor to Wii to be an 8 core bobcat based, 1+TFlop machine, with 4 to 8GBs of DDR3 or a few GBS of GDDR5 that released a year before PS4 and XB1 they could have, it just wasn't what they wanted to make.
It's the same thing now as always with Switch Nintendo wanted to make a machine they wanted to make, as much as I wish they'd used a multi-device model for their plat...
They're rhetorical questions, obviously hardware has it's limits or developers haven't iterated on their development methods to make a game run at 4K native or 60FPS or both, but if we're seeing similar things being achieved on a 3rd party game compared to a 1st party one then there's no way Sony could have done anything to force devs to change what was possible on XB1-X.
His point actually makes perfect sense.
Odyssey looks like a great evolution from SM64, Sunshine and Galaxy, I don't know how anyone can hate on this game, the graphics may not be as good as other titles on more powerful systems, but they still look nice for the specs this system has and you can take this game anywhere to enjoy it.
Imagine Xmas time and being able to play this round the family, I can't wait to get a Switch for this and the slew of exclusives coming throughout this year.
SM+RKB, O...
This looks awesome, so much fun, can't believe how many games I'm gonna have to buy for Switch when I get one later this year, Odyssey, SM+RKB, S2, ZBoTW & MK8 at least, with a decent sized Micro SD, quality case and Pro Controller I'll be spending a pretty penny.
Between Sony, Nintendo and multiplats I think I'll be best off saving until Black Friday and working my way through my already enormous backlog until then, unless I see tantalizing deals betwee...
@darthv72: There's nothing odd about giving a cult classic video game the first class remake treatment SoTC is getting, it certainly has nothing to do with trying make money on a completely separate title which has already sold enough units to make a small profit for Sony.
This is a passion thing, no question about it, as much as haters like yourself will try to deflect from the reality of this existing, the very fact it looks like a brand new game shows how much Sony c...
Same here, I wonder if Ico will get remade as well, because I never played that either.
It would be awesome to see both given this kind of treatment.
My god this looks like a movie, but it's clearly gameplay. Blue Games are legendary!!
According to Tim Moss 132 people were working on GoW3 by the end of it's development.
I'm gonna need to really pace myself financially, but more importantly time wise, like the hell does a person play all this awesomeness either out or coming? I know prioritize the stuff you want to play most first, but damn it's insane how much of a backlog I already have, just have Spidey, God of War, Knack 2 and Days Gone, a remake or remaster for Shadow of the Colossus is seeming like a legit possibility (I never played the PS2 game or it's PS3 remaster).
All...
I loved the art that leaked, this game has tipped me over the edge.
With this and everything else coming this year I want a Switch! Hoping a bunch more Wii U ports/remasters happen coz I didn't get one, but there's about 8 or 9 games I want for Switch.
#mypoorwallet.
Damn!! Ubisoft's conference was the real start of E3, this, Beyond Good & Evil 2, Starlink and Skull & Bones all looked awesome, don't get me wrong but Bethesda did good with The Evil Within 2, Wolfenstein: New Colossus and Dishonered 2 DLC, but the lack of new IP kinda disappointed me.
EA made Need For Speed Payback look awesome, but The Crew 2 has such a diverse range of vehicles, Anthem looks like the Iron Man game people didn't know they wanted, overall Ubi ar...
I fail to see how providing options for their platform is alienating users, people generally know technology gets better with time and more capable devices can be bought for either less, the same or more money than they originally paid for their PS4 3 and a half years ago or 1 year ago in the case of the Pro.
It's required if Sony wants to maintain their marketing and position as the company with the most capable, dedicated gaming console, which may be important to the ...
@Shadowlee: It doesn't cost $1000 for an FX 8320e or even a Quad Core Athlon, RX 580 with 8GBs of VRAM, you can get all the parts needed to run Gears 4 MP for around the price of XB1-X, maybe even cheaper if you look around.
Anthem's a multiplat anyway, same is true of Metro: Exodus, Assassin's Creed Origins and Shadow of War, besides some potential exclusive content for those games everything shown from them will be on PS4.
Microsoft had one chance to reveal XB1-X to the world and wow everyone, and while Xbox Fanboys kept insisting Phil had been hold back games for Scorpio's reveal and that Sony will be 3rd party focused it was Xbox who had to rely on multiplats to pack out their conference ...
Microsoft hasn't taken the fight to Sony at all, taking the fight to Sony would have meant waiting to announce XB1-X until it was ready to show, which means no confirming Specs until the event and keeping Digital Foundry's input until the conference, hitting the world with it's existence closer to release.
Fighting Sony means more than getting 3rd Party marketing deals or keeping your games as play anywhere titles, they needed to announce major exclusives, new IP...
I don't think Code Vein is exclusive to anything, it's been confirmed for PC, Xbox and PS4.
They could also announce a further enhanced PS4 Pro, with an overclocked GPU running at around 1300MHz to match the X, add in more RAM, a 4K Bluray Drive, releasing a week earlier than XB1-X for $449.99, along with God of War, Spider-Man, Knack 2 and GT Sport releasing one of each game per Month from September to December, all with true 4K Graphics.
That's pretty false to say really, I mean the part about everywhere besides N4G is positive about XB1-X, considering that GAF already has tonnes of comments saying the MS conference showing was poor and the price is too high, especially when you can buy an XB1-S with a tonne of games for a lot less.
The worst thing was that Microsoft needed to bring the exclusives, to make people want this and they didn't, I mean there was nothing major shown that you can't buy elsewhere ...
Seems some people are forgetting that Destiny 1 was 1080p 30FPS on both base PS4 and Xbox One, with the same visual settings, while PS4 had a significantly bigger GPU and memory performance advantage, along with a significantly bigger install base well before the game went gold.
Tbh when games like Battlefront 2, Battlefield One and Call of Duty World War 2 are managing 60FPS, with decent sized player counts and dynamic destruction Destiny 2 should at least be 60FPS on all ...
