I'm afraid Sony already stated that Pro was a mid-gen refresh of PS4 when they revealed it in September 2016, for it's November launch that year, that was 3 years after the base PS4 released!
Why would you assume it would be 6 years from Pro's launch to PS5's release, especially given that launch PS4 is what most people own?
PS5 will have a sizeable improvement to all of it's hardware, CPU especially, definitely the GPU and RAM, likely...
It doesn't really make sense for Sony to announce PS5 at E3, it's not their way this generation and the conference is held too late in the year to really give them much time to market the system and it's games for a Holiday 2018 release and revealing it at E3 this year for a fall 2019 release window is way too much lead time to build up hype, it would diminish the hype too much.
We won't hear anything official about PS4's true successor until at least 6 ...
The simple fact is that most of Sony's home consoles have released 6 years after their predecessor, only PS4 came 7 years after PS3 in Japan and North America, PS3 launched in mid 2007 in Europe and Australia.
The technology to provide gamer's a similar level of raw flop increase, vastly improved IPC and more than sufficient additional CPU and RAM already exists in the PC market.
Despite PS2 still selling like hotcakes and PS3 selling well Sony ne...
Personally I think Sony and Microsoft should make portable versions of their current gen systems to allow users to take those experiences everywhere, but it's going to depend on the tech available.
I suppose a Ryzen 3 2200g could be used in a portable, if you had a decent cooler for a tablet and a big enough battery.
Some emulation software and a way to download data from your physical games to a built-in HDD would work.
I say both should make somethin...
I don't have a Pro, but I echo your sentiments, having even a launch PS4 & my Nintendo Switch gives me such a variety of awesome, quality games that there just aren't enough hours in my free time to cater to playing all the games I own, let alone all the games released that I could want or will want in the future.
With getting PSVR and building my new PC it's just going to get better/worse, I mean better because of having access to even more experiences and ...
I personally love both machines!
Nintendo have created a great system I can take anywhere, with great games from them and other Devs.
Sony have built a great system I can play at home, use VR with (I'm finally getting my PSVR this week and can't wait to hear experience all it has to offer), stream games to or from (to my Vita with remote playback), that offers tonnes of great games from all over the industry and with more capable hardware.
Besides ...
Exactly, of course genuine, known outlets, with a history of balanced and objective assessments releasing their reviews when embargoes are finished will always be preferable.
This is certainly not trustworthy, even with a good score.
Clearly this review was posted early for clicks
That's not really a prediction you alone have made, tbh it being what's happened for 2 out of the last 3 successors to the PS1 makes it more likely than an extended gap between PS4 and PS5.
Many have been saying it's only going to be 6 years between PS4 and 5.
The progress of technology means it's very likely AMD Navi and Zen's successors will be ready for a next gen Console SoC.
RAM should be fine whether it's GDDR5 with ...
I think Playground Games revealing a new Fable game that looks as compelling as the Witcher 3, Zelda BoTW or Horizon ZD would be shocking and very interesting.
Maybe a massive open world RPG that can be played in both single player offline mode or seemlessly online with cool character creation would be great IMO.
343i announcing a cool new 3rd Person action/Sci-Fi game.
A major remake of Banjo, Conker, Perfect Dark or Kameo would be very cool.
...
Frame rates will always depend on the overall package of what the game offers and optimization techniques.
Because consoles are fixed platforms, with only the potential for the odd upgraded box Devs can't push beyond the baseline specs.
The only possibility is maybe dynamic settings being put in place for when/if newer machines come out with faster hardware that can be easily targeted to get 60FPS.
Devs will always prioritize what they feel i...
TBH it's not unreasonable to think the leap will be a bigger one, especially on the CPU side of things.
GPU wise a similar jump from PS3 to PS4, in terms of raw FLOPs is actually not that hard to achieve, mainly because the PS4's clock speed was pretty modest, even a similar core count to XB1X could allow for 10TFlops at the right clock speed.
40CUsX64=2,560 shaders, X2 OPs per cycle, times by 2GHz nets you 10.24TFlops.
Vega 56 can do 10.752TFlops at 1.5GHz,...
Tbh next gen is likely going to start in 2019 or 2020 with the next PlayStation, sure Microsoft needs to start to deliver, but make or break time was when Sony started to really hit it out of the park in 2014 when Bloodborne got announced and 2015 when Sony started to really hit their stride with The Year of Dreams.
Microsoft hasn't had a single good Xbox Conference this generation at E3, they've all disappointed IMO.
Lacking much in the way of compelling n...
It's actually become pretty common for both Sony and Microsoft to use any development relationship directly made with an independent studio as First Party now, even ones that consumers and game enthusiasts might refer to as 2nd Party.
They're their own relationships, so calling this a 1st party game is actually fine to say.
Of course people want to see this on other systems, but that simply isn't going to happen because of Sony funding this game, owning the rights to the Movie franchise and Disney wanting Spidey in the MCU, so no Spidey PlayStation exclusivity would have meant no Spiderman in Avengers Infinity War, Captain America CW, etc.
The exclusivity of this game is the product of Disney wanting PlayStation's Market Strength and game publishing prowess and Insomniac's Developm...
Toys for Bob, they've done Skylanders stuff and they're handling the Switch version of Crash's N'Sane Trilogy according to Wikipedia.
It was me who suggested you use the ARC from your TV to your Receiver and connect your PS4 Pro to another HDMI input on your TV.
Out of curiosity what standard are your inputs and HDMI cables?
Also are you sure your TV, PS4 Pro and Receiver are all set to the correct audio settings?
Your TV may not be set to surround, perhaps your PS4 isn't set to output Linear PCM and your Receiver may need to be set to a Dolby 7.1 setting.
Yep, it all depends on whether your TV has an Audio Return Channel on at least one of it's HDMI connectors.
Connect your Pro to another HDMI Port, with a 4K compatible HDMI Cable, if you have 2.0 connectors on your TV and cables that are that standard then you'll be set for connection tech to deal with loads of bandwidth demanding audio/visual features.
Here's a useful link to an article about HDMI standards: 2997d ago 0 agree0 disagreeView comment
The HDMI standard from 1.3 onwards is able to handle 8 channels of uncompressed audio, so you should still be able to get 7.1 audio provided you have the correct standard of equipment.
I don't know if 1.3 can handle 4K with that level of audio.
As far as I'm aware HDMI 2.0 should be able to handle 4K 60FPS, along with 7.1 audio and HDR.
It all depends on which connector standard your tech has.
Their TV should have at least one HDMI connector with an audio return channel, if they connect that to their receiver, but connect their Pro to another HDMI input on the back of their TV they shouldn't need to use an Optical cable.
The TV will just pass the audio to the receiver automatically, but the Pro's native resolution should be displayed on their 4K TV.
Dev kits aren't required to develop games, just optimize games for a specific launch hardware target.
That optimization could happen in a few months, if the base game is mostly done.
2020 could be the release year, but given past generations of PlayStation home consoles have been 6 years apart each other, with only PS5 being the exception to that makes it more likely PS5 will come out in 2019.
The tech will be available to make an 8 Core Zen ...
