Actually Digital Foundry said smaller skirmishes hold 4K, but it actually drops in bigger ones to sub 4K, each axis dips independently to maintain 60FPS.

It still doesn't do 60FPS throughout each second, with far off enemies and assets being rendered at 30FPS, with closer ones rendered at 60FPS.

From wouldn't ignore PlayStation, they're their bread and butter at this point.

Either it's a PS4 exclusive, PS4 and PC or PS4, XB1 and PC.
Depending on how technically demanding it is it could even make it to Switch at some point.
Dark Souls 1's getting a Switch version that looks nice, I could see this being on everything current if it's a multiplat.

Bloodborne 2 or a spiritual successor to it needs to happen at some point.
Studio Japan could certainly handle it in their own, they have phenomenal talent and a massive studio to deal with tonnes of projects simultaneously.

From's new game sounds like it's something fresh, hell Team Ninja could do a Tenchu game, but given we're getting Ghost of Tsushima from Sucker Punch the Ninja, Fudal Japan theme isn't being left behind.

Ghost of Tsushima should be able to scratch that Tenchu itch.

It sounds like you'll play a Samurai who's becoming a Ninja, in a huge, detailed open world and Sucker Punch knows how to build quality open world's.

Agreed, I concur with others who said this looks like Mad Max, Borderlands and Fallout had a baby.

It looks awesome!!

60FPS is always going to depend on how developers use the resources available.
Devs could be given an 8 Core, 16 Thread 3rd Gen Ryzen CPU clocked at 4GHz, pair that with a 72CU Navi GPU, clocked at 1.75GHz with over 16TFlops of raw performance (50% or higher improvement in IPC Vs Jaguar architecture), pack 32GBs of GDDR6, which would be many times faster and still target 1440p 30FPS or even 1080p if they wanted to try using the latest Ray Tracing or funky rendering tech in their game...

It can't be the middle if it's not coming half way between the beginning and the end.

Pro would have released November 2017 if the next gen was starting in 2021 or May 2018 if it was 2022.
2016 is not the middle if your console's initial launch is 2013.

I wrote a pretty long post, but I did I mention that.
Tbh a physical development kit isn't really needed, since Devs can approximate specs with standard PC hardware, then port their next gen games to the real PS5 when the more finalized kits are released by Sony.

If EA, Activision, Ubisoft, etc already have theirs then core Sony teams would undoubtedly have had them for longer.
There has to be a bunch of developers testing out what's possible on ne...

So you think this PlayStation Generation is going to be 8 to 9 years long?
You realise that 7 years is the longest Sony's ever done right?
That was because it took them longer to gain a return on PS3 hardware (Vs ps2) due to the economy and costly nature of using Blu-ray and the Cell Processor in that system.
Even with that being the case there was still only a 6.5 year gap between PS3 and PS4 launching in Europe (Sony's biggest market).

Cheers for the kind words.
We heard all this from naysayers, back in 2012, when rumors of PS4 Dev Kits started doing the rounds.

Timing fits a 2019 launch, but because a certain few are getting anxious because they only bought a PS4 when Pro launched, they assume the generation started back in 2016.
It's been 4 and a half years, Sony never goes beyond 7 years, 6 years is their standard generational gap.

I could understand if there we...

We're 4 & a half years into the generation, a standard PlayStation generation is 6 years, besides the gap between PS3 to PS4.

7nm is going to make an AMD GPU with GTX 1080 levels of performance a reality at $250, retail price, for Sony that's going to be at least half that, with a minimum of 8GBs of very fast memory tacked onto that price included.
We already have 4 Core, 8 Thread Ryzen 1 CPUs and bigger which utterly destroy the CPU in PS4 for crazy ch...

Sad Bob Hodkins and Dennis Hopper are dead.
Mario Bros was so bad it was good, especially if you don't associate it with the SMB franchise.

I think the only way an SMB movie would work is as an animated movie (be it drawn or CG in modern times, maybe good stop motion stuff), the live action one is ridiculous and weird.
That film shouldn't have been called Super Mario Bros, it should have been it's own thing, but then I suppose you probably woul...

We're probably getting a major new IP from Japan, targeted towards a global audience (it's been hinted for ages).
Insomniac probably has another Ratchet game in development, Manchester and London likely have at least 2 major VR games between them.

Japan can easily have more than the game I mentioned above for PS4.
Even with so many Studios being known quantities and many making next gen stuff for launch and beyond Sony has a lot of resources.

Hopefulness? New generations come every 6 years, literally the only one that was stretched longer was the PS3 and that wasn't in all regions, since Sony's biggest (Europe) had a 6.5 year gap from PS3 to PS4.

PS2 was selling ridiculously well (better than any previous console), but that didn't stop Sony moving forward with the next gen.
As for your argument about Sony "Blowing Their Load", they have loads of developers and partners to the point...

There have been reports of 3rd party Devs having development kits for PS5, but no one's saying PS5 will release before Holiday 2019, but 2019 isn't just the earliest we'll see PS5, it's the most likely point in time we'll get the system's launch.

PS4 has peaked in sales according to Sony, just as with PS2 the company acts to put their next system in homes when sales begin to decline.
Latter generation sales aren't really affected by new ...

Actually it's the hardware vendors that provide said expertise on the system building front.
Tbh though when hardware hobbiests can source their own hardware to make a decent system of their own anyone with said interest could sit in the role of system architect, especially game developers with experience in making use of that technology.

Nintendo's preferences of making a certain input type their priority and limited breathing space for the box are what ha...

2019 fits with all the evidence available right now, from past generation cycles, to parts being ready and most cost effective.

Even a bunch of devopers have launched their last PS4 games in plenty of time to be well into development of launch PS5 titles right now.

@Brugal: No you don't, it has no bearing on the next generation, PS4 Pro was literally called a Mid Gen Hardware Upgrade by Sony and they defined it as the middle of the generation.

Maybe if all sales or the vast majority of sales were for it Sony may drag things out a bit, but the base system is where most PlayStation 4 gamers are gaming in the PS4 ecosystem.
Pro wasn't made to extend the generation's lifespan, it was made to keep existing PS4 owners w...

Sony were in the initial planning stages of the PS5 probably back in early 2014.
As soon as they get feedback on how PS4 fits dev's requirements they could begin working out what can move games forward and then check out hardware vendor's future roadmap to see which parts work best for their chosen performance targets.

Sony probably knew what hardware they'd be using early last year.
They only need to wait for nodes to reach sufficient maturity...

Literally nothing supports this viewpoint being accurate.
Past generations had 6 years between them, apart from the last to the current one (even PS3 to 4 was 6.5 years in Sony's biggest market, which is Europe) and technologies are available in mass quantities.
Many game developers are also coming off of launching games a few years ago, giving them plenty of time to have new generation releases ready for launch.
