So, uh, with that title, I was expecting an article about the developers of Super Smash Bros, which was originally HAL for the first two, then sorta-Nintendo with Sakurai, and now Sora/Namco-Bandai with Sakurai.
Either way, I expected a bit of Sakurai knowledge there, and instead I got some sales figures, a rumor, and a comment-baiting question. Don't even click on the thing.
Can't wait to see this on PC!
come on, when has this not happened...
...don't say Shadow Complex... :P
@knifefight
Famitsu reviews aren't taken seriously just because they're from "the magical land of Japan." If so, we'd be foaming at the mouth over Dengeki or Ge-Maga. It's that Japan takes Famitsu very seriously, for better or worse.
That assumption's like if Germany said IGN was only well-received because it's from the US - both of those publications have their glaring faults (mainly in that they pander to a particular audi...
Game Center CX 3... *sob*... Kacho on!
(Someone PLEASE localize that thing...)
Good catch! Bubbles.
The whole argument's idiotic. From the announcement of this game, the head of Platinum has said "Bayonetta 2 would not have been possible without Nintendo." It's not like those are really thin lines to read between - without Nintendo's funding, that project wouldn't have moved forward.
Now, we could talk for days on what would have happened, had Nintendo not stepped in. *Someone* would have picked that up for sure, but they needed a company with larg...
Seriously, who uses this bugged-out game as a benchmark for any theoretical decision? "After playing Thief, I -" No. Stop. This game is hardly finished. I'd hardly blame the resolution as opposed to a lack of proper optimization for the hardware in this case - if they can't fix the myriad bugs, I'm sure that was lost in the mix.
It's like if I said "I wasn't sure if prioritizing 3D graphics was a good idea or not, but after playing Bubsy 3D...
Oh man, those weird hidden-ledge exploits I had no idea even existed... that was so cool. You know someone's going to run that at Summer Games Done Quick now.
"According to a post on Kokatu[sic], some Japanese players aren’t thrilled with the idea of an FF game set in a world that so closely resembles their own."
Japan! The last time Square made a full RPG set in modern Tokyo, it was The World Ends With You. The odds are in its favor, give it a chance!
Yup, there's actually a term for it, too: NRE (New Relationship Energy). ORE is pretty self-explanatory but hard to come by, harder to define, and really freaking hard to convey in a game that isn't a visual novel or something.
*starts singing the Snake Eater song and replacing "snake" with "bone"*
I guess "Bone eater" would be a criminal you're after? Otherwise, what the heck?
Well, yeah, Sony invested in *them,* that's why it's not on the Xbox One. Which is fine. Microsoft paid out 1 billion at launch for some AAA games, mostly eschewing independent developers in favor of a few big (and boring to me) games. Imagine a world where even half of that went toward independent developers making new IP or improving obscure, like-new IP.
I mean, MS did do that once - they funded quite a bit of Dust: An Elysian Tail, for instance, and that's why...
You know, that's what I thought when I read Mehdi's comment at first - it seemed like Xbox was just spouting some BS about another stat that would make them look good, but really, both consoles are selling well enough to probably be profitable. I mean, they're not selling the Wii U here, they're both doing alright.
It's just that Sony's doing *double-*alright, hehe.
Also, love the reference.
Chicks... I see what you did there.
LOL @ Agent!
Seriously though, scores are exclusive to the genre and context of the game. Is Nidhogg objectively better than CLoS2? No, but Nidhogg's bringing something crazy and new to couch multiplayer and it's done in an amazing way. It's possible that the reviewer just felt that it didn't live up even to its predecessor, or to other games within its genre or even series - this title still bears the name Castlevania, which has about 9 titles which were more...
The article's spot-on. If you haven't checked it out yet, watch the Giant Bomb Quick Look for Titanfall, it was released recently through YouTube. It plays very much like Call of Duty - a bit like a much-needed sequel to CoD4 in terms of gameplay.
The small changes will probably win over plenty of CoD gamers, at least for half of the year before they move to whatever Sledgehammer's working on. However, I don't think this game, with its visual style and mechan...
This is friggin' hilarious, and I bet it will soon be a Twitch favorite.
I'm surprised the original ever got an M rating in the first place. Nothing - not even Quelaag's design - seemed to indicate anything that would be restricted to 17+.
Plus, it's Dark Souls - it's the atmosphere and gameplay that matter. I'd only be concerned if it were rated E.
It's like no one remembers that Chopper existed.
Wow! I thought they'd change that title after finding out what "La Puta" means in Spanish, but nope, they're sticking with it. Interesting! It's nice to see Tower Defense games coming from that kind of art style.
