The review's interesting. With fan reviews, it seems like the writers either want "more stuff" or they're waiting for that stuff because the core game's so great. This guy's on the "more stuff" side. I get it, but I don't "5/10" get it. It's the measure of an individual's experience, so I'd never call it "wrong," but I don't quite get it.
Putting more things into a bad game doesn't do much to impr...
Articuno, considering how the launch went, that's completely true. They bungled it. Most online games launch on fire, but they should have anticipated this and at least allowed the game to compensate for server failure.
The always-online single player seems like a way to prevent leaderboard/fight money hacking, which usually I'd get all angry about, but we haven't seen the store yet (also a problem!) so it may matter. This would be decently okay if the servers wer...
This is basically where I am with it. My favorite Street Fighter has been the original version (not the 'online' remaster) of 3rd Strike for years, but the mechanics on display in SFV are wonderful. It might replace 3rd Strike in my book, especially as content is added and as the meta develops in tournaments. Karin is a joy to control, and I never played as her in Alpha, so she's like a new character for me and my first choice for a main.
There are people out the...
Bison's right :P
I think this is overblown. While I can't stand crappy launches, give this a little time and we'll be watching it on Twitch, playing it locally w friends, and engaged in the community. At least they let us know this stuff wouldn't be available yet beforehand.
Granted, server BS on day one is both inevitable and stupid. It needs to stop.
Now, if we give it time and it sucks, then it's time to break out the...
Yeah, they just keep adding to this game and it gets better and better. For anyone who purchased Driveclub, they're getting way more than their money's worth.
I just wonder what the heck Evolution is doing at the moment - not that it isn't awesome, but how are they making money? They've been super fair with DLC, and so far they've made so many changes to the original game that it's like a dang sequel added onto it.
It's like if Ubi...
Possibly. This is a good point. I think there's been enough of a past way of doing this, especially since the price of the original disc will come down, but I don't see them trying to get another set of reviews from that disc version. Promotion from this point onward will probably be only on publications about updates, tournaments, and word-of-mouth, along with sales and price drops and such.
I don't think so. This isn't without precedent, but it's without precedent in the fighting game community. Splatoon started with limited options in order to have a simple, focused, balanced game. They expanded the number of weapons, online modes, and customization options as they continued to rebalance the game. It got 80-ish ratings, and it didn't matter one bit because they kept making news and drawing people in. For the paltry amount of WiiU's out there, the game was a ...
That is a super quick announcement and a weird date to release that game. I'm interested to see how it turns out - maybe they're rushing it out the door, or maybe they're capitalizing on a slow month and a surprising announcement for a good game? We'll see, I guess!
Great article!! I like the Morricone comparison for the soundtrack - to me, the OST never got better and weirder than Demon's Souls. Especially that Flamelurker tune!
When I heard about this game through the IGN review on day one, I drove like five cities over to get to a Gamestop that had it in stock. I didn't know how hard it was at the time, but I heard it was a challenge, which would be refreshing, because you're absolutely right about this - single-player gam...
Be careful! The iOS port they did for 8 didn't include anything added for the original localization - neither the voice acting nor the orchestral soundtrack. I guess it had to do with storage space, but the 3DS doesn't have an infinite amount of room for dialogue either.

It's called "carrier companies subsidizing the cost of a phone." I don't think Playstation Plus is going to foot 2/3 of the bill for a VR helmet.
Small installments and insidiously overpriced phone plans are a little easier to swallow than a $400-500 immediate purchase, especially if you don't have great credit.
Eh. Don't QA teams often go through this process near release time? Maybe not at Platinum/Nintendo? I figure this isn't the worst sign in the world, although if they're scrambling there's a slightly higher chance of delay.
Yes, Famitsu can be very, very weird. I wouldn't expect a Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games game to get that high a score either... I mean, it could be surprisingly great, but there's such a precedent for mediocrity in those games.
ScrewAttack knew last night, they posted their old GameTrailers opener with a "One more for the road" title to it on YouTube. Some people had to have known then...
Nice! Some Third Strike action is first up!
Yeah. I often get physical games, actually, and it's being encouraged by Amazon Prime discounting physical pre-orders and orders until two weeks after release by 20%. I still have trouble keeping digital games on my HDD!
Thank goodness for game sharing without DRM, though. Glad to lend a copy of a game to my bud, and I'll probably bring SFV over to his place to throwdown.
There was a translator who covered a few points, it seemed like the lack of single-player options was the main culprit for the 8's and 9's. (Oh, Rookie Monster beat me to it!)
I bet the 10 person was like "Uh, people do single-player?"
Honestly, unlockables are my jam when it comes to single-player, so this game has me covered. I'm not sure *anyone* but the pros are able to judge the game for the sake of competitions, though. The nuance ...
Cool. I completely expect this to be Splatoon-like in its free updates. I like my single-player, so I think grinding out new characters will be fun enough!
YES! YES! YES! YES! YES!
My hype levels are off the charts, this is one of my favorite series - heck, I even played through the 4th one!
Ha, count this PS4 fan on the good side of KI. I love how much they've improved this game. Go Dave Lang!
