I think it would hurt Sony. Not because it would move a ton of Xbox's, I don't think it would. But because Sony would be seen as a loser and not a winner.
When people who haven't bought a next-gen console finally do, they're going to want to go with the platform perceived to be the winner, the coolest, the one with the most hype, the one that'll get the baddest games first.
on exclusivity. Exclusive or not, the bundle should happen. Do you agree a PS3 w/Dark Knight Bluray bundle would move some fence sitters?
Don't believe the upscaling hype. Upscaled DVD doesn't compare to a 1080p native Bluray, at least not on my 52" LCD, but the real advantage is the high definition audio. If you'e never watched a Bluray with uncompressed audio, Dolby TrueHD, or Dolby-MA, then you have no idea what you're missing. Changes the whole experience.
Besides, that, bundles are going after fence sitters, not people who already have a console. Polls show many people still don't realize the PS3 is a B...
I stand corrected. It had SD but no rear USB.
I can't very well slam Sony for taking away what was never there. The SD I don't need.
Still, PS3 needs an elegant rear USB solution. It is keeping me from buying peripherals for the PS3. With rear USB ports I'd buy a Canon Photo printer, camera, and Play TV. Not putting them in front with a hub and cable. Just not doing it.

Unfortunately it cost too much so I got the 40 and put in a 160G HD. I would have purchased the new 80G for $399 and sold my current PS3 with the 80G HD just to get the rear USBs, but nooooo.
If I had rear USB I'd put a permanaent external on the PS3 in my Home Theatre and would be chomping at the bit for PlayTV here in the US. As it is now, I rarely use the USB port at all, I even charge my controllers on teh PC, the connection in the front are not aesthetic...
Sony has been dropping many balls lately. No rear USB on the new 80G PS3, and not this. Building in a Mic means no built-in bluetooth or bluetooth adapter.
I just bought a PSP Slim a month ago and am ecstatic with the hardware, not so much with available software. But as a media device, it needs a Bluetooth adapter. I can't use it in the gym with wires. It's easier to use something smaller with bluetooth like my Samsung P2.
Also, there's no iPod adapter cable. So...
Probably after 2/2009 when all us OTA broadcasts go digital.
It was a boneheaded decision to put only USB ports in front knowing you want to sell a USB tuner/PVR (play TV). I want PlayTV in US, but I won't get one and have a fixed box and coax cable (from) HD antenna in front of my PS3 in the home theatre. I'm not going to wrap a USB cable around the back either. If I'm going to accept a mess I might as well just stick with Xbox.
It was boneheaded and I hope theyy fix it. A contoured hardshell wrap around adapter that's flush with the PS...
The first screen is better to look at. Especially in motion. Oversharpened images look like crap in motion and still. They have no warmth and look artificial.
Tell you what, turn the sharpness on your TV or HDTV all the way up and see how much you enjoy it.
It's OK to ripoff if you make it cooler. And it looks like trophies have that potential. But I grant, Achievements are one of the best things to happen to console gaming, period. It's good the PS3 is getting them, its good they look to have made them even slicker and more accessible.
Xbox did innovate here, but hey, now they no longer have that advantage. Now my friends and some exclusive games are the only reason I have to keep playing on Xbox. PS3 is quieter and has richer s...
I would love to get some Heavenly Sword trophies.
Every bit of code, every driver, every application, every icon, image, sound, has to be read from the HD when booting. Obviously, the faster you can get it from slow HD to memory, the faster your system will boot.
I though the PS3 was clearly superior, but, seem to have fewer players on screen...
Not sure how this is discrimination. It's protecting from discrimination. Seems like gays wan to have their cake and eat it too.
Above average graphics and sound, great FPS performance. Good voice acting. But for me, poor controls. No cover, not sure the whole nectar thing works. I think 5/10 is acceptable. Anything higher than 7/10 and I would have to question it.
It's also going 64-bit. I'm looking forward to it.
People are still buying HDTVs. A young lady I work with just went HDTV with a 40" Samsung LCD. She asked me about PS3. She doesn't play games but after we talked HDTV she said "I'm getting a PS3 next, isn't that the cheapest Bluray player?"
I told her yes, and it's one of the best. I told her I'm sure she'll find a game or two she'll like as well so she may become a game player.
Wait till Christmas when everyone gets their new HDTV and again in 2/2...
Excellent news since I have absolutely no interest in Home whatsoever but can't wait for achievements to come to PS3.
Fanboyism is about 50/50. The difference is, the PS3 side tends to block more stories they don't want to see about their platform more than X360. That's been my observation of late.
I don't think there's anything wrong with the criticism as long as it's not in the gamer zone. Trying to suppress news that may not be to your liking is much more serious.
Back on topic, if those are in-game screens I'll probably give the game a look. Just as the latest LBP screens ha...
I agree with making trophies mandatory, if not, what's the point. Don't know about headset.
