Just following N4G guidelines. I think this would be of interest to Xbox 360 readers. Is that not the criteria? Same goes in the other direction. I put RRoD and other Xbox stuff PS3 users would be interested in under PS3 as well.

It's reported as a Rumor for a reason, that's what it is. Though a reputable site like Gizmodo spreading it is news, which is why I added the opening. If it turns out to be fake, Gizmodo will lose all credibility.
I have a PS3 and have blogged heavily in its favor. I seriously doubt there's a major problem but Gizmodo reporting this???

While I can tell the difference, I have an HDTV, Surround Sound, and a Receiver capable of handling HD Audio.
People who say they see no difference, probably don't have this type of setup. Of the 40 million PS1/PS2 owners who have not upgraded, I would guess less than 1% have an HDTV or Surround.
The people are right, Bluray doesn't look better than DVD over Coax or an RCA cable.

Garbage in, Garbage out. Depends on the source. Predator is grainy in some places but better than DVD in all and the sound is awesome.
The best Bluray I have isn't one of the newer movies, but Blade Runner. The best surround sound EVER.
Actually, in it's price range $399 PS3 is a top of the line Bluray player. If you forget the games, for AV people, you also get media streaming thrown in.
To compete with the PS3 as a standalone Bluray player you have to have all features: BD-Live, Dolby-TrueHD, Dolby-HD Master Audio, Ethernet, 1GB local storage, PiP. Basically Bluray Profile 2.0.
And... if there's a Profile 3.0, the PS3 is pretty much guaranteed to be able to handle it via firmware update. Many ...

I think we agree. The bitstreaming bullet item was for both TrueHD and MA. Sony cannot or does not bitstream either.

Doesn't weaken the game but complex mechanics can weaken the appeal for casual gamers who have limited time to play.
Intel doesn't currenlty produced any of the processors in the gaming consoles... Intel's process is news for PCs, IBMs process is news for gaming.
Since it is being rushed, there will probalby be bugs, but it is Gears 2. A critical and commercial flop? Very unlikely. Minimum 8/10 just for being very good.
I'm with you Anubis. Cheaper the processor, the more features can be added to consoles.

I do. Which is why I would buy another Xbox just to get the extra features the PS3 already has... the games. Gears of War 2, all the XBLA games, and achievements.

Fan noise is becoming an issue but never had a disk read error. Right now, all things being equal, I lean to Xbox 360 for Achievements.

I'm not familiar with your specific reference. If they said it just didn't work, that would be a problem. But, my Xbox does play significantly more Divx/Xvid files than my PS3. I belive the PS3 has stricter audio specs. I have yet to get any Divx/Xvid with Surround Sound or AC3 to play on my PS3. They play o...
