All the PS3 needs is a firmware update to support Dolby-MA, then for the most part, it is on par with the standalone player.

I imagine now Sony will release the firmware sooner rather than later. If you're going to have to buy a standalone Bluray player anyway, the the PS3's BD is no longer a selling point over Xbox 360. I eagerly await the next PS3 firmware update.

I think Sony should tone down expectations, it may be a hit, but don't make it out to be a savior or GOW 2 killer. Remember, this isn't the wii platform. How many Killzone or Resistance guys are going to spend hours with LBP?

It will be the biggest game in its genre and a prime example of what next-gen gaming should be.

Microsoft hasn't saved 2008 and will not until they admit their mistakes. They need a BluRay drive and a new HDMI chip that supports HD Audio. And they need a reliable unit with a silent fan. Until then, I'll keep splitting time between PS3 and Xbox 360. Sony will never get achievements and online right but MS can add Bluray and make it silent.

Heavenly Sword lived up to my expectations. The frame rate could have been higher, but still, one of the best produced games and best characters and acting ever. It set the standard for the genre in my opinion. Uncharted's audito/visuals are overrated IMO, this game is not.

One complaint was it was too short, I didn't think so. Maybe for hardcore gamers that sit down with a game for hours/days on end till they finish it, but those types of gamers can't appreciate the overall qu...

I believe Rare was the developer but Nintendo owns the Intellectual Property Rights.

MS and Nintendo being able to work this out means there is a realistic possibility of seeing Killer Instinct 3 on Xbox. Now that would be the news of the year!

Fable 1 was a huge letdown based on the lofty promises made before it's release. Let's hope this doesn't turn out to be a repeat.

Obama has nothing to do with what someone else does if he is not involved.

Hillary on the other hand, violated contribution laws, denies it though there is video and recoreded evidence of it. Blatant evidence, and was found not-guilty by a judge who was appointed by......... Bill Clinton!

That's political corruption my friend.

The vast majority of illegals work for Rich Conservatives or Wealthy Liberal Elitists. That's why nothing's being done.

Additionally, the constitution specifically protects immigrants. Once they are here, they have the same rights as other Americans. If you want to control growth of immigrants, we must enforce our immigration laws and protect our borders. Once they are here, you can't send them back unless they commit a crime.

You have to protect the border and e...

He should have credited Governor Patrick. Having said that, the Clintons and your statement are blatantly untrue.

1) He did not quote a "speech". The words in question comprised 2, or 1-runon sentence of a speech.

2) The 2 sentences (or 1 runon sentence) was not word-for-word, or verbatim. That's plain and simply not true. It was clearly borrowed, but there is no gray are when you say verbatim or word-for-word. It was not, word-for-word or verbatim.

I'm not going to state a position on the Patriot Act, butI do have to say this. It's absolutenly not unconstitutional. Do you know the consitution does not explicitly guarantee or even mention the right to privacy? It is "implied" by other rights.

This whole specifics argument makes me laugh. It's somewhat ridiculous at this point. All studies show that at this point voters vote on emotion unless there is a specific issue on the agenda, such as the economy and war. Other than that, it's an emotional vote about who can communicate and inspire them. Always has been.

Until you are President, it must be about your ideology. The candidates haven't even chosen running mates and cabinet members. Take the war, how specific can y...

This is why I broke 360 loyalty and bought a PS3 as well. I want it now. But Sony be warned, 60fps means 60fps.

If you build it they will come. Someone will like home that's for sure. Even if it's only 10% of PS3 users, that's a million or more users. I imagine it will be the same people Second Life appeals to.

Personally, I can't see any self-respecting gamer spending potential gaming hours walking around on-screen in a doll-house chit-chatting. On Live! 90% of the chat is in-game. The rest is private chat.

Home is going to be it's own thing, not really a part of the gam...

I agree totally. I finished Gears on normal and only have 20% of the possible achievements, but I went back through to get "For the Fallent" which is recovering all your dead brothers' COG tags.

Achievements when designed well can actually enhance the gameplay experience. The "scoring" not so much. I wouldn't get rid of it and I don't find people boasting about a high gamerscore, but it doesn't necessarily need to find it's way into PS3 achievements either. ...

While achievements do add to gamerscore, the score isn't what they are about. It's reliving the experience without playing the game all the way through, and competing with friends. It's like taking a photo of a vacation.

Games, like a vacation, is escapism. It's how we escape the daily stresses of life for brief moments. And just like a vacation, a snaphot helps relive it to some degree.

No one gets credit for having a huge gamerscore, I mean, you just rent a bun...

If MS doesn't release a Blu-ray edition of Xbox (preferable) or a Blu-ray addon soon, Sony will eat them for lunch. Microsoft has started releasing more HD downloads with 5.1 audio but that's still not HD Audio, and the downloads are all 720p. Now factor in that you have to watch them within a specific time limit, and can't take them to a friends house... downloads will not supplant dedicated players and "owning" a movie to play whenever and wherever you want with trued HD audio and...

Who needs achievements in 3D VR? Just copy Live's model. The average gamer is mid-30s. The thought of having to control some goofball avatar and walk around in a toy VR house to get to a trophy case to view achievements could only be though up by the Japanese.

This has no appeal to me whatsoever. Just give me a blade with achievements. Don't reinvent the wheel. Just copy what MS has done and move on...

If the issue is the install being mandatory, I can't argue with being displeased with that. You should be able to play the game without being forced to give up 5GB.

But having a game that plays better if you choose a HD install, I have no problem with that and think its great if the developer can take advantage of it. HD being faster that BD or DVD is a physical fact and I think should be taken adavantage of whenver possible. But only if it improves performance or adds addition...

All consoles have trade-offs. You want BluRay basically for free, well it's denser and reads slower than a DVD, so you have an HD install. The PS3 has significantly slower bandwidth in several areas so it loads slower, you can have the Cell and HDD installs or Xbox 360s Power-PC and fast loads.

When you add it all up, I think the PS3 with its installs is a better value. It's unlikely even a 40G drive will be filled with DivX movies given it's compression ratios. If it is, the m...
