I'm a PS3 dude now, but I have to say, if this is what's supposed to put Gears and the 360 in their place you're delusional. Copying the color pallette, juicing up meaningless particle effects can't put this in Gears' league. And the voice acting, OMG, I didn't know coochies could talk.

Probably my all-time favorite game on PS3 or Xbox is Dead Rising. It's graphics were, OK, 6.5/10. So I agree, gameplay is most important. Having said that, I would prefer Dead Rising 2 on the PS3 with hi-def audio and 10/10 graphics using all the PS3's media processors.
I'd gladly pay $49 for the Xbox Live! experience, community and performance on the Playstation. Sometimes you get what you pay for. There's a lot wrong with the Xbox 360 platform, Xbox Live! and $49/yr subscription are NOT among the things wrong.
The only PS3 games in my opinion that leave Xbox in the Dust are WipEout HD leaving all arcade games behind, and Heavenly Sword. The only asterisk is the PS3 couldn't really handle all that Heavenly Sword threw at it.

Good point no one seems to ever mention. ISPs greed is leading to a rise in bandwidth caps. So much for en masse DDs even if the bandwidth was there, ISPs will cap it trying to extort more money out of users.

I've loaned more movies than games. That's why MS and everyone else wants DMD. Azzholes. Can't loan a DRM'd DMD. Can't trade it in. Can't sell it. No way to screw you into paying for it twice if your crappy console dies and your license gets hosed.

Power of Green, I don't think you're an idiot and I'm not going to call you names. I actually did notice the difference in contrast, but I felt the PS3 had the higher contrast ratio... which is my preference. Most noticeable during the cutscene of the zombie chainsawing through the fence.
I notice some differences in contrast, particularly in cut scene portions. Depends on you preference as to which you prefer but it was noticeable. I tend to like higher contrast myself.
But both look awesome! Looks good enough for me to pre-order, for PS3 of course. All things being equal I prefer the high-fidelity sound of the PS3. But before I order I'll have to make sure it supports trophies or else its 360 baby.
Buddy of mine has a 360 with bad DVD. Bought refurbishe, won't work. MS Tech support says he has to but a new replacement for $100. Console less than a year old. He's not going to do it. He's 100% Xbox 360 fanboy, but if he has to spend $100 on a less than a year old machine and argue with MS customer support, he's going to buy a PS3 for Christmas and get Blu-ray to boot.
MS is doing great, but as the failures continue on relatively new machines and Blu-ray picks up, there's go...

In defense of gamers, we live a busy life and sometimes you just want to jump in and have fun. I haven't tried LBP yet, I'm tempted, diggin' the sackboy costumes. But just lookit at it and reading reviews I can't get a feel for the game and whether I'm remotely interested in its gameplay. If I have to be artistic to get value out of it, I'm probably not interested. If it's too much like homework, or work, why bother? I'm just sayin'

I recommend Valkyria too. Most beautiful game out there. Great tactical RPG. Probably hurt a little by the fantasy/nazi aspect. It think they could have gone a little harder core and done better. Sometimes when the subject matter is going against Nazis, it's best to go all out. Good versus pure evil. If you tiptoe, you usually don't do well.
Would love to see this engine in a Fantasy D&D type tactical RPG. Who needs Final Fantasy. Anyway, if you have a PS3, pick this one up...

I wouldn't get to excited about Windows 7's performance until there's a release candidate. Windows Alphas and Early betas are always fast. That's before they add all the compatability code. It'll slow down, the question is how much.
