The internet is simply a medium for communication. Temporarily taking over the intenet far less of an infringement on freedom than curfews (which the government can do already), arresting you and imprisoning you without due process (patriot act), etc....
Off-topic @ Guido: How does this bill suggest socialism? How is the government bailout of certain large companies, which was an entirely voluntary program, qualify as socialism? It might be a good idea to take 1) take a few c...
The fact that Wii Sports Resort is doing well shows that Wii owners are quite willing to buy games and accessories. They're happily paying $90 for Wii fit! Just because Call of Duty doesnt sell well on the Wii doesnt mean the platform isn't good for games.
As for the 360 Elite, it's number 47 on Amazon's list after a 700% improvement in sales. This is an indicator of how poorly it was selling before it was dropped to $299.
This guy's just trying to get hits for his website.
Here's the actual best-seller list at Amazon ... no Xbox360 Elite.
http://www.amazon.com/gp/be...
Top five:
1. PS3
2. Wii Sports Resort (and they said Wii doesn't sell games!)
3. Wii Motion Plus
4. Batman (PS3)
5. Batman (360)
The Elite is ranked at number 47
Wii has better backwards compatibility than the 360. The PS3 has partial backwards compatibilty and plays more older games than the 360.
The Blu-Ray is a huge advantage, particularly since the PS3 is the best blu-ray playback device on the market.
The Wii and PS3 don't charge for online play.
The advertised facebook and twitter "features" of the 360 are a reflection of a restrictive interface which limits access to functions that the other con...
that's in the same league as the first Uncharted game, there's no point in arguing that Uncharted 2 is possible on the 360.
they are from the 360 build. Characters look good. Environment does not. From the looks of it, this engine is unlikely to make your 360 overheat but they've done a good job with managing their available assets to emphasize the things that the average person notices first.
Environment is a 720P version of the original KUF on the old Xbox.
The draw-distance looks improved, however, and the effects look great. Hopefully the frame-rate is better than the old game as well.
Edit:
Just saw the videos: Looks much better in motion than in stills. There's enough on-screen action that one doesn't really notice the weaker aspects of the visuals.
When the cheapest PS3 was $400 and the cheapest 360 was $300, historical data shows that the PS3 was outselling the 360 quite easily.
The 360 only took over the number 2 spot from the PS3 after the 360's lowest price was dropped to $200.
Now the PS3 is at $300.
Microsoft's advantage is that because the 360 has so many fewer features it can sell at a lower price. My advice to Microsoft is to drop the 360 Arcade altogether, sell the Pro at $180, the Eli...
PC games work fine off a DVD because all PC games are installed on the hard-drive. So for a PC it really doesnt matter whether it's Blu-Ray or DVD or even a USB flash drive.
Due to it's huge capacity, the Blu-Ray drives allows data to be stored with little or no compression. This means that data can be transferred directly to the hard-disk cache without any CPU or RAM overhead.
In contrast, the 360 uses a DVD which requires significant compression to fit all the co...
but what the guy is saying is absolutely true.
1) Blu-Ray: Having a large Blu-Ray drive allows them to minimize compression which allows for better texture quality and reduces CPU overhead. One of the 360's weaknesses is that one core is always occupied with managing compressed assets, instantly reducing it's available CPU execution units by 33%.
2) Hard-drive: The fact that there's always a hard-drive means that they can design a game around the higher performance ...
Even DVD is more capacity than most PC users need. In fact, even after all these years, the average person really doesn't use DVDs on their PC. Like Blu-Ray, DVD is incompatible with nearly all car CD players.
For PC gamers, DVD would suffice because PC games have mandatory installation which means the game can be stored in highly compressed form on the DVD since it plays off the hard-drive anyway. For most PC users, a standard CD is the best choice.
the components are placed differently. The biggest change is the placement of the HDD. The areas that are most sensitive to heat are the motherboard and power-supply so that's where the bulk of the fan's airflow capacity is concentrated. If you look at the dissection to see whats where it makes a lot of sense.
What's important here is not just where the air goes out but where it comes from. Just like a jet engine, the airflow created by the suction of the fan in is just as ...
It takes the air in through the middle and kicks it out at high velocity through the "funnel." Looks like the bulk of that air is being pushed straight through the power supply. Like all the other components, it just reeks of quality. Superb.
This machine virtually drips with the quality and engineering for which Japanese manufacturers renowned.
The Japanese are still number one at this kind of hardware engineering. Sony, Lexus, Citizen, etc... They're all cut from the same cloth.
Apple is the only American company that is truly committed to quality and design. Even Dell has given up quality to compete on price. Microsoft ... well, let's leave that discussion for another day.
The top of the case has to remain the same size because it has to be compatible with existing hard-drives.
While getting the power supply out is one way to decrease internal volume and heat. The 360 already has an external power supply.
Miraculously, the PS3 Slim, like the original, has an internal power supply in keeping with the expected form factor of a premium home theater product.
Given how cheaply built and unreliable the 360 is even without an in...
which is why the $199 360 Arcade did well. They could afford $199 and then worry about the rest later.
$299 is still a bit more than they can afford and because of that extra $100 they will knowingly end up spending hundreds more to get the Arcade up to par.
This is why places like rent-a-center are so profitable. They can resell a $400 PC for $1500 because their customers would rather make 30 payments of $50 than 1 payment of $400.
Similarly, I know c...
1) $250 for online: $50 every year for online vs free on PS3 and Wii. Let's say you ditch your 360 after 5 years, you would have spent $250 more just on having online play. That's 4-5 full priced games on PS3 and Wii. Put another way, for the price of a 360 Elite with online you can buy both a PS3 & Wii and have online on both!
Elite+Online: $300(console)+$250(online)=$55 0
PS3+Wii+Online: $550(consoles)+$0(online)=$550
2) $250 for a Blu-Ray: Let's face...
1) The PS3's unique hybrid architecture has a special bus designed for passing graphics data to and from the CPU and GPU.
2) The Cell processor is both theoretically and in practice much faster for gaming purposes (shaders, animation, physics) than even the fastest i7 processor. In fact, the Cell processor is the only CPU capable of running shaders faster than even the PS3's own GPU!*
Then, of course, we have the very real problem of price. The top of the line i7 a...
the PS3 was outselling it by 35% month after month.
The 360 only outsold the $399 PS3 after the 360's price dropped to $199. That price drop opened up a whole new market for the product.
The PS3's new $299 price is still not in the sweet spot for maximum sales. The 360 only started beating the PS3 after it hit $199. The PS3 will certainly sell better at $299 than it did at $399 so the question remains .... how much better?
Will it be enough to retake ...
Do you really believe what you said here?
"America was fundamentally built on small government and capitalism. It is what made this country the super power that it is and the current president is a pansy idiot that hates all that is America and wishes for nothing less than full power."
What made America powerful was slave labor (most of the county's early wealth was directly a result of this), vast natural resources, and massive government interventions on ...
