The real story should have been GT's producer recording best of the year lap-time (for that kind of car) at the 'ring.
1) Nearly all of those shots are indeed fake. Forza does not have 16x or better anti-aliasing but those shots do. Common trick used by nearly all developers to hide jaggies in "screen-shots" (otherwise known as bull-shots) so don't feel bad.
2) The lighting and reflection errors in those images are pretty obvious. The old ferrari, for instance, looks like different parts of it's body was painted alternatingly with both matte and glossy paints. In fact, if you look...
As for the comparison, it's so speculative that it's meaningless. It's also quite wrong about things like customization. For example, he claims that the GT series only allows minor customizations like rims and wings when in fact you can upgrade engines, alter gear ratios, springs, etc...
As for the online comparison, he fails to mention that in Forza 3, 1) you have to pay to play, and 2) you have much smaller races. Having said that, I do think Live has better community feat...
In-game is incredible as well. On this evidence, the skill and talent at Polyphony Digital is simply unmatched. Other developers like Carmack (himself quite possibly the most overrated developer on the planet) ought to bow their heads in shame for being incapable of producing visuals of this quality.
Putting up a picture of muslims in an article about fanboyism is utterly racist. Destructoid has really stepped in it this time.
Some of the descriptors used:
"obnoxious"
"annoying"
"putrid, festering, blackened pools of mulch at the bottom"
"the pariahs of society"
"perhaps they just have tiny penises"
Mr. Jim Sterling, now that we know how you feel about Muslims ...
by a vastly more powerful platform. The pathetic polygon pushing capability of the Dreamcast at a time when polygon count was the single most important aspect of visuals was simply an insurmountable obstacle.
There was some clever tech in the hardware but some of the other ideas were more for the spec sheet than real results given the infrastructure of the time.
the appeal of such a mediocre, arcadey game. Then again, I suppose there's more to enjoying a game than good graphics, physics and animation.
Afterall, Ocarina of Time is still one of the best games ever made.
They probably got carried away with a 9.5 for visuals, particularly with Uncharted 2 around the corner but the game itself just seems so innovative, pure and uncompromised, that the reviewer could be forgiven for getting carried away with enthusiasm.
They charge $60 for a game with 400 cars, then charge an additional $60 for another 140 cars.
Total of $120 for 540 cars.
Their excuse for charging as much as the game itself for the extra 140 cars is "it's expensive to model the cars."
Microsoft really knows their customers. Brilliant.
but the reason it was released for the 360 has nothing to do with personal grudges or "principles" but rather the fact that Microsoft bought the studio with $$$. That simple. Money talks.
The 360 is simply selling to the same kinds of customers who bought the original xbox. This is reflected in game sales where the 360 does well in the same categories that the original xbox did well in and poorly in same areas where the original Xbox failed as well.
The only reason games like Tales of Vesperia were ever released for the 360 is because Microsoft bribed the developers to do so. In fact, they've admitted as much.
Are you seriously arguing that Forza 2's damage simulation is even slightly realistic? Apart from being riddled with bugs (GT5's demo had bugs as well), Forza 2's damage incredibly unrealistic. The fact is, any collision into a barrier at 35mph or above should completely disable most cars. Anything else is simply not realistic.
Hitting a barrier at 150mph and then completing the race is simply ridiculous. The driver should be badly injured or dead. Race should end immediatel...

you've obviously not heard of streaming. It's a great way to get around memory constraints. Once you get around memory constraints its about power and the PS3 is simply much more powerful. That's why there isn't a single game on the 360 that even approaches the quality of the first Uncharted, let alone the sequel.
Like all the forza 3 shots, not only is the lighting plain wrong, it's inconsistent. Same goes for reflections. As a result different parts of the car look like they have different kinds of paint, some matte, some gloss. In the shot you posted ...

is astonishing. I can understand that this is a demo meant to get feedback but are those movable barriers supposed to be made of concrete or foam? Nevertheless, it's great to see that the lighting on those other objects like tires and barriers are real-time and that they cast shadows.
Frankly, I would not have adjustable crash damage. I'd have an on/off option. If damage is on, it should be as realistic as manufacturers would allow, ie., everything can be crushed except the...
running on an engine built for the 360 then ported to the PS3 so it's not going to be taking advantage of either platform even less the PS3.
What's more, they've got an engine that didn't get too many complaints about the first time around so why spend millions of dollars improving it? The smart choice is to fine tune the LOD parameters a bit, tweak the art a little bit, and charge $60 for essentially a new set of maps.
Easy money.
Even Gears of War 2...
Microsoft's been doing this kind of thing for years. They will say and do anything to win.
so why rub it in when Uncharted 2 is even better than Uncharted 1?
You're making the studio look bad. They have purposely avoided comparisons with GT5 for visuals and here you are trying to force one.
When asked how they can claim to have the best graphics in a racing game when GT5 Prologue has been available they said that GT5 Prologue was not a full game and hence did not qualify for the comparison.
Go look up the interview videos. Even Turn 10 knows they can't compete on visuals.
Maybe Forza 3 will finally have r...
