It's not exactly like the rally sub genre of racing games is particularly crowded these days - on any platform - so I'm not really sure those claims are particularly bold.
In any case I enjoyed DiRT 2, and it seems that number 3 will correct some of the flaws the previous games did have, such as not enough actual rally (and I'm hoping for more hill climbing as well - has that been confirmed?).
And the weather effects and snow stages most certainly don...
Great news. While I mostly use iRacing for hotlapping rather than actual racing (I've always been more of a sim driver than sim racer :)), I've remained a member for over a year and bought all the road content and some of the oval content.
Right now Shift 2 and occasionally GT5 are taking up most of my driving time, but I'm really looking forward to these iRacing improvements.
I'm a few tests into chapter 2 of the PC version and it's been absolutely brilliant so far.
I never finished the original Portal (and I foresee that my meager puzzle solving abilities will also run into trouble soon enough in Portal 2, but I can see that there are already video playthroughs up on YouTube if I need help), but so far Portal 2 has it soundly beat in visuals (a huge improvement over the then sterile test environments in the first game), more and even mo...
Building sized Cliff Racers? :)
Very good looking game indeed.
I'm currently on my fourth attempt to play through the first game. On the first three I simply couldn't get past the boring chapter 1 (outside the city).
On my fourth attempt I've finally made it into the city and spent some time there filling up my quest list and completing a few of them, but the game unfortunately still hasn't managed to really inspire me to keep playing.
I know The Witcher is prai...
You mean those somethings many people wear from morning to evening every day in order to see clearly? Or many others of us wear outside on Summer days to shield our eyes from the sun?
I'm really finding it a bit difficult to understand how 3D glasses can supposedly be such a huge problem for so many people.
Sure, glasses free 3D is obviously the more desirable solution - but probably also 5+ years away in screen sizes and prices usable for the living room - but...
I'm planning on buying a 3D TV within the next few months, but I've been rather disappointed to see even the supposed new mid-range TV sets of the 2011 models, launch at prices a fair bit higher than the now frequently discounted 2010 models (which I'm determined not to take my chances with, there have reportedly been some improvements in the new 2nd generation).
Right now all the 3D TVs I currently have my eyes on (some of the new Samsung models, mainly plasma,...
I had a fair amount of fun when I played in closed beta for a few weeks some months ago. I think I'll give it a try again now that it's officially released, and I can also see that there are more maps as well as American tanks, which hadn't been added yet when I played.
It definitely has a VERY different feel compared to the fast paced infantry shooters many of us are used to.
I'm a little surprised that here in 2011 there are apparently still people who consider 4 GB "gigantic!".
Granted, if you're still stuck with a tiny 40 GB HDD it is a sizable amount of data, but otherwise 4 GB is hardly anything that should make disks or even fast Internet connections flinch in a mild panic these days.
I've got 5+ TB of storage for my PC (not counting additional old external disks that are gathering dust in the back of a close...
Nine of Ten.
It appears most of the 3D TV manufacturers are joining Sony in not packing any glasses in with their 2011 models - at least that seems to go for Samsung and Panasonic as well (except for possibly Panasonic's most expensive model, the upcoming VT30).
I want to buy a 3D TV this year, but so far the prices haven't exactly been encouraging. I had hoped that the intent to offer 3D in some of the midrange models would mean some decent prices, but so far it looks like the ...
The US store getting a game a week later than the EU store, there's a bit of a surprise :).
I bought it last week and while I unfortunately haven't had time to play it much yet, I was pleased that it plays quite well with Move (something I was a bit skeptical about for an action RPG), even menu navigation (which isn't really required all that often) doesn't feel particularly unwieldy.
Visually it's not particularly inspiring though - i...
I've been feeling an urge to replay the first game again, I don't think I ever finished it.
As entertaining as the first one though, InFamous 2 looks like it might be on a whole different level - if nothing else then certainly graphically and in terms of available powers.
I've been using those DS3 trigger attachments for so long that I had completely forgotten they weren't part of the controller :).
The triggers on the 360 controller - or the Move controller as Alpha-Male22 pointed out - are still better though.
Even without the trigger attachments I don't think I would consider the DS3 triggers all that problematic - I use L1/R1 in shooters, and in racing games (those where I don't use my G25 wheel) I've always ...
It certainly wasn't Lair of the Shadow Broker quality (that DLC was just amazing, particularly if you had a past relationship with Liara to carry on), but a ~2/10?!
I would probably give Arrival a 6/10 - possibly even a 7 if I was being generous.
Digital Foundry has already done their analysis of Crysis 2 - in two articles, one for consoles, one for PC - and I sort of doubt they'll be doing an additional one attempting to compared Crysis 2 and KZ3, which seems like a rather futile and extremely subjective exercise.
I liked Kaiden, who else would I have chosen for that suicide job in ME1? :p
Purple muzzle flashes and tracer rounds, that's something you don't see every day :).
I hope this game turns out great, there's always some fun to be had from a good loot heavy action RPG, even if I'm not quite as fond of the genre as I used to be.
That way most rating scales in gaming media are used, that score (which obviously equates to a 5/10) is considered pretty bad, even if it is numerically "average".
I wish they would make the game world a bit bigger than "about the same size as Oblivion". Even on foot those ~40 square kilometers didn't do an amazing job at making it feel like you were traveling around an entire province.
Or maybe I've just been spending too much time replaying Just Cause 2 the last week. Now that's a REALLY large - and very beautiful and quite varied - game world, although trying to get anywhere on foot takes forever, and I guess ...
