Shift 1 had full support of the G25 (don't know if it had full support for the extra buttons on the G27?), so I hadn't expected anything less from Shift 2.
The full rotation animation sounds like a nice touch. Although whether or not it's something I would actually notice I'm not sure - I'm actually not even sure if iRacing and other PC sims I've played, and still play, do that?
Several of them don't have animated hands though, just the ...
I've just been checking out the Nehrim site and some Youtube videos - it looks like a pretty amazing, and huge, mod.
I only have the PS3 version of Oblivion, but now I'm very tempted to buy the PC version to try this mod - it's only €20 on Steam.
Actually I think most of Europe is - very broadly speaking of course - perfectly fine with both sex and violence in media (as long as the proper rating is applied of course).
Germany (and perhaps a few other EU countries) seems to the rare exception regarding violence, with occasional bans or other strict requirements of violent games.
The real world is also "massively multiplayer", but that doesn't mean that some of us can't get most things done without a group of other people in tow :).
I'm a big fan of singleplayer RPGs as well, but MMOs attract for similar reasons that I like taking a stroll through downtown - there are many other people around in a persistent world. That doesn't however mean that I necessarily feel compelled to actively interact with most or even any of thos...
In the cars the felt best (as I mentioned in my last post, car handling was extremely uneven in my opinion) I really enjoyed the driving experience in Shift 1 with my Logitech G25.
And for reference I play a wide variety of racing games - from pure arcade racers with a gamepad (eg. Burnout, the new NFS Hot Pursuit) over "semi-sims" like GT5 and Shift with my G25, to full PC racing sims like iRacing and netKar Pro.
Pretty good list. GT5 might have ~900 more cars, but there are almost as many on the Shift 2 list I'm actually interested in driving - plus several I've found myself sorely missing in GT5.
I just hope the quality of the driving physics in Shift 2 proves more even among the cars than in Shift 1. Some cars felt great to drive with my Logitech G25 wheel (eg. the Zondas and the McLaren F1), while others were a huge disappointment (eg. the BMW M3 e92).
I love the game so far. I'm not a particularly social person so I usually solo 99% of the time in MMOs, but the huge and frequent rift and invasion events - with a big "join public group button" when you get close - and the quick and easy public group option for regular questing, are quickly changing my usual habits.
Being a PS3 and PC gamer - roughly evenly split - I think it's still often interesting to see how much of a graphical difference there is.
And unlike PS3 and 360 comparisons, a PC vs. console comparison really shouldn't be igniting any fanboy riots, considering - as you point out yourself - it's not actually a competition (or at least an uttterly and completely one-sided one) but more a matter of illustrating how large or small the differences might be.

"Stunning exDream and equally stunning Zoo released now the stunning first Trailer of Fireburst that will hit this stunning Summer on stunning PSN, Xbox Live and also still rather stunning PC. This stunning Game used the stunning Unreal Engine and looks really awesome... sorry, stunning."
Aside from featuring fast cars, Shift and Hot Pursuit are barely comparable.
The recent Hot Pursuit was a full on arcade racer (but a fun one at that), while Shift falls roughly within the same group of "semi-sims" as Gran Turismo and Forza. At least if you play it with a force feedback wheel rather than a gamepad.
Yep, they do come off as rather arrogant and full of themselves in many interviews and articles.
I just hope the game can live up to all the self praise, because I'm actually looking forward to it.
Shift 1 was an uneven and flawed game, but hotlapping in a McLaren F1 or a Zonda F with a Logitech G25 wheel was a blast.
It's really starting to annoy the hell out me as well - and I actually used to be rather fond of the word stunning (mostly as it applies to women :)).
On the PC version the "attack closest" button (R by default - I didn't actually know this feature existed until I looked under the keybindings) proved indispensable for real time combat, unless you're abnormally skilled at hitting the correct things with your right click with party members and enemies all running and jumping around :).
Obviously there will probably be many times in the full game where I'll be using the pause button, to make sure I targ...
I agree. I loved ME1 when it was released, but after playing through ME2 three times - hell even just after the first time - I think it would be very difficult for me to go back to ME1.
(Just in case it matters, I played the PC version of both - although my first playthrough of ME1 back when it was released was on XBox 360.)
Personally I'm among those who actually didn't feel the story, missions and dialogue were better in ME1 - I would probably rate the tw...
I'm playing a level 12 rogue at the moment (about to dive in again now, assuming there are no server queues, which I have fortunately otherwise been spared my first two days by playing early in the day), and I've been having a blast with the game so far.
Fun and fast combat, extremely extensive class (soul) and skill combination options, and as someone who usually solos most of the time in MMOs, I actually find myself loving the rift events where you can simply join a large p...
I'm having a blast with the game so far (bought the digital pre-order yesterday to get into the headstart).
Fun and fast combat (and the public and temporary raid groups when rifts open are a welcome addition for people like me who otherwise tend to mostly solo in MMOs), a ton of options for skill combinations, plus pretty good graphics if your computer is fast enough to crank the settings up a bit (my aging Core 2 Quad, GTX 260 system can manage it at 30-40 fps at 1920...
Fantastic trailer. I'm particularly looking forward to the snowy, mountainous setting - I found most of Cyrodill in Oblivion somewhat visually bland.
One thing that puzzles me is why many of the same sites that have handed out 7s to KZ3 (doesn't look like there was a numerical score on this one, but the text was pretty negative), happily give 8 and 9s to other first person shooters with equally one-dimensional characters and not particularly inspired story lines?
It seems like quite a few of the "negative" reviews I've read focused solely on the singleplayer campaign (which I may agree is possibly only ...
F*** you Denmark! I'm so embarrassed right now I'm wondering if I should consider moving to Sweden :p.
Can us PS3 and Move owners make our own "it doesn't cut it!" complaint?
I played a few matches in the demo the other day and just like fr0sty I was sorely disappointed by the Move implementation.
I was also hoping for 1:1 controls similar to table tennis in Sports Champions, but based on the matches I played it just feels like extremely basic gesture controls, that don't do much more than pick up the general direction of the Move controller and in...
