Pontificates is a funny word.
Nyahahahahahaha
Bioshock should definitely be on here. Not the popular music you hear coming from radios, etc, but the score itself. The synthesis of 20th century "classical" styles such as Bartok-style sound effects on the strings, 12-tone melodies, and music concrete (real-world sounds used as musical themes) perfectly reflects the synthesis of ideologies that Rapture represents and evokes. I actually wrote a paper on it in college, there's an insane amount of depth to it and the composer is d...
The Afro Samurai soundtrack is seriously awesome
Good response article.
You have to admit, as ignorant and obnoxious as some people can be (no matter who they're fanboy-ing for), the gaming industry is certainly a very colorful place these days.
I have an 80gb with emulation-based BC, so any kind of quality update to the PS2 emulator is fantastic news for me. I can play 90% of PS2 games, but I have Black and Jak and Daxter and they both glitch out too much to play with the current emulator. My first Jak and Daxter game is #3 and I have no clue what's going on, I'd love to start from the beginning and not drop $100 on a new PS2 (my last one broke, though it happened to work the one time they tested it for a trade-in at gamestop! moo...
*screams like a little girl*
Seriously, this could be gamers' chance to prove how much we love Shenmue via sales and maybe we'll FINALLY get a finale. eeeee!
*inserts obligatory "that's what she said" comment*
nyahahaha.. "inserts"
OOO ones that aren't in the beta!!
lol.. still though, that's damn impressive.
In Plaza there's a sign for Hotel Raja :-)
That totally rhymes, too.
cmoooon new IP... cmooooooooooon new IP....
@Saaking
If MS launches early again, it might be a good idea for Sony to wait it out for several years. The PS2 was outselling the 360 until somewhat recently, imagine if the same thing happens next gen and they throw all their efforts into supporting the PS3, keeping it nice and cheap, and giving it a very broad appeal to many different audiences. Games are still coming out for PS2 to this day, so it's not like publishers and developers would abandon it. If they wait 2 or 3 y...
Hey, I'm not saying Hugh Jackman is a good actor, but he somewhat resembles Snake appearance-wise and his voice is kind of in the Snake-ish region already.
It's going to be ridiculously hard to recreate him no matter who they get. They should make a high-quality CGI or something instead.
I hope they don't just recreate the game in movie form, they're already such cinematic games, it really undermines games as a medium when they try to just reproduce what happens in ...
I agree with you morganfell, so I think the Big Boss voice actor should really depend on BB's maturity as a soldier at Peace Walker's point in his life. If he's still stubborn and reckless, go with Hayter, but if he's more all-knowing and wise, make it Doyle. Also I totally didn't realize it was Doyle narrating the trailer, good ear. God I'm so pumped for this game
Oh definitely..
**SPOILERS IF YOU HAVEN'T PLAYED 4!!**
lalalalallalala... anyway
I'm 99% positive he's setting this up so that Zero is the main antagonist. They say something about Costa Rica being occupied by an "unknown military power" or something, it's gotta be the Patriots. I think there'll be some interesting dynamics with Big Boss' relations to the the other Patriots. There's some really deep emotional potential if Zero and BB haven't comple...
Definitely, and he's still a pretty big mystery since we've never actually encountered the real Miller.
Miller is a very very interesting idea, and probably a good call. I kind of figured it was Zero since I couldn't think of anyone else who looks like that, but this guy definitely looks like Liquid disguised as Miller from the MGS1 codecs. Good eye.
@thom
Wow, that's actually a really awesome idea.
Queens of the Stone Age ftw. That's one of my favorite songs of theirs.
Whether you like the game or not, Halo has a really good score. Gregorian plainchant in a video game?? That's damn risky, and they sure pulled it off. Whether people realize it or not, it's one of the key things that helps differentiate the game. I've played all the Halo games, I don't really like them, but I'll admit that I love the score. I think 2 is the best because of the massive Incubus instrumental (from before they started sucking), but ODST's noire-ish themes in the night-time se...
