Of course they are and so was Nintendo with the Wii. With Sony it depends on how you look at it. Comparably they are doing well too but if you take how Sony did the previous 2 generations then it looks like they lost a major chunk of the market that they used to be a dominant player in.
I would also like to know why people are so adamant about talking worldwide numbers in a topic clearly stating NPD which we all know now isn't worldwide figures. Since I live in the U.S. t...
People throw money at consoles too without knowing what games it will have after 5 years time. The agreement terms can also change over time when you update the system for example giving consumers little choice but to accept those terms.
Funny how there is more diversity and new ideas stemming from Kickstarter games than from big publishers.
miyamoto, you really need to do your homework. The Xbox 360 has been much more of a success story for Microsoft than the original Xbox in many ways. They have also acquired key publisher support as well and are in good financial shape leading into next generation.
Game forums are the last place to get any real indication of what is going to happen next generation. Not when you have fans rooting for their preferred company.
It's amazing how the game industry rarely have set release dates more than 2 months ahead.
Kaz needs to make major changes at Sony. The Playstation division is one of the few areas they have found some success in as of late. I doubt they are going to get into new types of formats or go in a different direction that makes things harder for game programmers again. I expect a more reserved system that focuses more on key franchises. The PS3 had a lot of exclusives but not all of them were a success. They have already closed down a few studios.
The most powerful is oft...
The gaming industry as a whole needs to be more open and less secretive. They should also be held more accountable to release dates and not allowed to show early teasers with no actual gameplay footage.
I think the PS3 is the system that is ending on the high note, so give credit where credit is due. The Wii faded fast and the Xbox 360 kind of turned once they marketed Kinect.
Well I'm sure many here on N4G will give themselves a pat on the back for all their hard work over the past 6 or 7 years. Nothing like reading the PS3 is better, no the Xbox 360 is better, Microsoft sucks, no Sony sucks.
At least the future looks bright with all the commentary aliv...
The PS3 didn't lose. In fact all 3 systems did well. The losers were the ones bickering back and forth in the forums for the past 6 or 7 years trying to get as much support as possible in some imaginary feud they created.
"My first thought when I saw this video was "Holy Crap!". But I think we've all been stung by concept videos in the past so gonna reserve judgement. Still, the idea has a lot of potential. "
Same thinking as me. It's all fine and dandy seeing early concepts and potential ideas but I want concrete stuff from now on. I don't want teaser trailers for games with no confirmed release date, I don't want tech demos for new ideas and new controller...
It really is a good game. Not my personal choice for best but still a game that should be played. I've had most fun with X-Com, Dishonored and Far Cry 3.
If it's a competitive market does that mean The Last Of Us and Beyond will also be only $39.99? I would love to see that.
I wonder if they lowered the price of games would mean more sales and in the end more revenue?
I wouldn't call it hate. What I see are those who think multiple devices can't or shouldn't co-exist. There are people who can play games on their tablet or phone and also play games on a console or PC. So why are people so determined to make sure they are categorized into different classes of gamers?
If I read a book on an iPad does that now make me a different class of reader than one who prefers to read from a paperback?
At the end of the day i...
"Some perceived demographic that, in all likelihood, doesn't actually exist.
I'm sorry but this statement is just so wrong on so many levels. First thing that is wrong with it is, he's making a game that's off an established franchise so yes there is a demographic that does exist the fans of previous DMC games (unless he's saying those don't exist)."
And as a consumer you have the choice not to buy the game. So how is that an...

Nothing from them there.

I'm not going to waste 50 minutes looking for something. I watched the first 2 and it's another guy going on and on. It's not the developer.

I would like to see this as well. I haven't gotten any e-mails sent my way from the developers insulting me.
I can imagine if DMC was there in Miiverse. You would have tons of trolls. That's the unfortunate side-affect to communities, you always have your idiots out there who have ulterior motives.
That's true and if the price is that much higher then they will be attracting a different audience. I don't see it being a $1,000 though, might as well just build your own PC then. If it is priced around $500 then Both Microsoft and Sony (even Nintendo to some degree) will be looking closely to it.
The major advantages that Sony and Microsoft will still have is marketing, a built up fanbase from previous generations and exclusive content. Valve doesn't really gene...
8gb sounds good but I will believe it when I see it.
You know what we need? We need the doomsayers to go away. That means less doom and gloom articles, especially for the Vita that just came out in all regions less than a year ago. Give it a chance.
You know what else we need? Less people who always put a positive spin on things because they like one company more than the others. We don't need people who use the forums as an online resume thinking they will hire them on the spot if they support these companies long enough. ...
There were so many doom and gloomers before the Xbox 360 came out. In fact there still are some trolling about. Many thought the Xbox 360 would be another failed attempt or be totally obliterated once the PS3 came out. Some also thought it would only be around for 4 years like the last one and be dropped for support. Going into its 8th year and you can see there are still many games coming.
This generation was a huge wake-up call for fanboys. They didn't know what to do o...
