"Why go first, when your competitors can look at your specifications and come up with something better?"
Is this in relation to what Sony did after the Wii got so much attention and then came out with the Move?
These systems are years in the making so even if the Microsoft waited to see what Sony offered it would still take a long time to come out with something better. You also risk giving Sony a headstart.
You have to pay attenti...
Not many thought much about the Wii either and look at how well that system did. If things were based purely from a technical standpoint with leading edge hardware the PC would win hands down but there's much more to it than that.
Norrison,
Crysis (2007) came out after the PS3 was launched and the PS3 came out after the Xbox 360 was launched. When it came out PC gamers also complained about how demanding the game was at the time and to have it run at full settings even for PC gamers was difficult. Battlefield 3 came out in 2011 so it will be roughly 2 years old by the time the rumored new hardware from both Sony and Microsoft come out. So to suggest a game already available on the PS3 and Xbox 360 cann...
*My last two sentences were not aimed at anyone directly. The point was Microsoft has managed to be very competitive to the point of parity, and we need competition to keep everyone in check. What we don't need is Microsoft being the dominant player otherwise it may become hard to play games online for free for instance. We also don't need Sony to be the dominant player, otherwise they might be too complacent like they were during the early days of the PS3 and not offering a very affo...
First off those are rumors, secondly the specs on consoles don't necessarily match PC counterparts. The PC runs differently and console GPU's are constructed for console use. So you don't simply plug in a PC graphics card onto a console and call it a day.
When the Xbox 360 and PS3 came out they matched PC games quite well. I expect it to be the same thing this time and once again the PC will outpace the consoles but to suggest a game like Battlefield 3 that is an ...

Sadly that is just human nature. If there was only one console you would still get a breakdown of RPG fans versus JRPG fans and those who support one developer over another. Or Call of Duty fans against Battlefield fans and so on. I'm not sure why people care so much about these things but they do. In fact some people get off being a nuisance and arguing with others.
“The biggest goal for Sony this fiscal year isn’t growth, but to be in the black,”
Which is why they are selling some assets and cutting jobs. Not the end of the world but it will take Sony some time to rebuild itself.

"No. It's called having a different opinion. Try not to take it personally. "
An opinion is saying you think one will do better than the other or you will buy one over the other because of whatever reason. Disagreeing that when the 720 comes out will be part of next gen but only agreeing the PS4 will be isn't an opinion, it's stupidity. How can one be part of next generation and the other not?
I don't...
This is about DMC and how some people who call themselves gamers won't even give the new one a chance. This does in fact seem to be the case judging by some forum comments and trolls quickly going to metacritic and giving it low scores right away.
Nobody is forcing you to like it, or forcing you to play it, but it is your responsibility to judge it fairly.
"@Alpha: It'll be a cesspool because people will have the nerve to be offended by a comment like that. Why does saying that piss so many people off? Why the f*ck do you guys care so much?"
Probably because almost every article has at least one person who feels the need to sidetrack a topic into something else. This topic for example is about Sony rebounding from years of losses to one person who has to put up the home team flag and wave it around while downplayi...
It doesn't matter all that much which one is more powerful, 3rd party game publishers often design their games around the lowest common denominator anyways. It happened on the PS2 and it happened on the Xbox 360.
Of course what I just said could be a rumor as well.
The thing is we've always had some sort of exclusive deals going on to get consumers to buy the hardware and the 3rd party games makes up the bulk of any systems library. We have some developers who side with certain platform holders more than the others. This generation we saw Epic favor the Xbox 360 and Konami favor the PS3 and so on.
What Microsoft has done is create parity, something they drastically got undermined during the PS2 days. So we saw them take an aggressiv...
My how quickly people forget things. Resident Evil 4 on the Gamecube? Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas on the PS2? Splinter Cell on the Xbox? Virtua Fighter 5 on the PS3?
To be fair development can be transferred from a regular game and have forced motion controls added to it. There were games on the Wii that might have been better without motion controls but because the main appeal of the system was motion controls they added it. I don't mind games like Gran Turismo and Forza having motion controls added to it while still retaining the original gameplay. You can add immersion by the camera tracking your head movement for example but still have precise con...
I almost bought a used copy of Chrono Trigger for $150 a few years ago. It came with everything.
The interesting thing is how people react to these articles and how they will support one company and not as much as another. Will those who are quick to jump on negative Vita articles do the same here for example? The media is partially to blame for influencing gamers to act the way they do. We are being trained to be pessimistic.
Negativity sells, it's that simple.
If only it were that simple. I too agree that there doesn't need to be a winner, all 3 had their own success. Unlike last generation where both Microsoft and Nintendo were totally outclassed by the tons of support the PS2 got.
When the race is much closer like we seen this generation, we see more attention from those who stay loyal.
Why let a system with over 70 million customers just die even if the PS4 comes out? That's the nice thing with Playstation consoles, the gradual decline of the old while the new gets more and more support.
Why not just make games you enjoy making without worrying so much about the differences in western and eastern culture? Games like Mario and Zelda have worldwide appeal, do we really need to make games solely for Japanese gamers or solely for western gamers if they sell the systems worldwide? I liked Valkyria Chronicles and i also like Skyrim and Mass Effect. I don't see them as one being for U.S. gamers and the other for Japanese gamers. Gaming is a universal hobby, like music and movies...
