I want to see the M$ game development machine work. I want them to push Sony to make more and better games.
But they don’t have anywhere near 4 AAA games a year launching on game pass. Even 4 AA and AAA would be worth touting, but they are still short of that. What is their 3rd game this year, Halo? Their MP is free, so that doesn’t sell GP for me.
Revealed gameplay is a good measure of future output, and Sony hasn’t shown off much for 2022, but they ...
Halo MP is free, so it won’t
I unsubscribed when they wouldn’t allow a $60 Xbox live gift card be credited as a full year of Xbox Live. They kept telling me they were doing me a favor forcing me to convert it to 6 months of Game Pass.
Stop making people upgrade, some of us aren’t children and know how to shop somewhere else.
Anybody wanna take bets on how long it takes M$ to start releasing 4 AAA games a year on Game Pass? Right now they are bragging about Psychonauts 2 and Flight Simulator being their flagships for the next gen, which feels like a weak A-Team to me.
A better measure of their success is how many people pay full price for Game Pass
I honestly think Kojima getting access to a Dualsense prototype spawned the Deathstranding concept. It’s a perfect game for the controller.
Are you seeing M$ doesn’t wanna buy a company and launch their first VR game in 5 years?
Buy all of the studios you want, you still will have to keep Game Pass populated with 3rd party games until at least another 3 years.
When the best games take 5+ years to make, buying a studio now means that they won’t benefit your game portfolio until the end of the generation, if we’re lucky.
Thanks Phil for planning ahead 👍
Wow that’s a deal breaker.
I’m not asking them to rush anything. They are the ones that promised 4 AAA exclusive launches on Game Pass every year. What’s their plan for 2022?
I understand how long it takes to make games. I’m just not sure M$ understands this fact when they promise 4 AAA exclusives a year, and we still don’t have gameplay for ANY of them yet when we’re a full year into the current gen. On the other hand, PS5 has shown gameplay for upcoming games, and withheld release dates for those that are nowhere near release.
M$ might be continuing to over promise and under deliver.
Fable 4’s eventual release is also part of the value behind Game Pass, so the delay does hurt the value of Game Pass.
One is for online gaming, another is a subscription service. They serve different needs, so they are not competing.
I do agree that Game Pass has value, even if that value doesn’t align with how I like to try/buy games.
I also agree that Fable 4 wasn’t an XsXS system seller by any stretch.
But, this does put into question for me M$’ clam that they’ll have 4 AAA games launch Day 1 exclusively on Game Pass EVERY year. Sure, they do have a whole flock of golden geese from the Zenimax purchase, but their golden eggs can’t be guaranteed.
I just think M...
But it’ll be FREE on Game Pass one day, just keep paying $15/month until “soon” arrives. This model is totally cheaper than only paying for games AFTER they release. Totally.
Guess who I’d rank above Ellie ;)
PS+ has great free games. He’ll Let Loose, Control, and Predator we’re all great giveaways. And we get 3-4 AAA exclusives a year, not that that has anything to do with ps+
Lmao, I think the free games has been great, and I’m glad they didn’t increase price of the base service in order to promote a sub service
Adaptive triggers > Game Pass
You know why the article doesn’t mention exclusives, or meeting THEIR promise of 4 AAA’s/year on Game Pass? Because they are falling short of those promises so far, so M$ wants to change the discussion, again.
They pivoted the focus to Game Pass’ value all last gen, and nobody wants that to be their sales pitch for another gen. I hope they course correct their portfolio for 2022/23 soon.
