They are pitching $500 hardware upgrade without any unique software for 18-24 months.... this has never been done by a console launch.
Lol, this is some impressive market positioning from Microsoft to make up for their lack of exclusive AAAs, but it is in no way going to convince me that I’d rather play X360 games at 120 fps (even in 8K, too) instead of start a console generation off right: with games that are noticeably not possible AT ALL on the hardware that I am supposed to be replacing.
If it doesn’t look worth $500-$600 on HD YouTube, then how can you sell anyone on that price tag?
Some of the PS5s best features need to be experienced in-store (adaptive triggers and haptic sticks, 3D audio). So they have their own marketing barriers.
And, it’s SSD is twice the speed of the XsX, so they are both powerhouses in their own rights. Nobody can say either way at this point which power advantage will prove the most worthwhile investment.

Most profitable piece of OVERALL MEDIA given away for free a decade after its initial release in order to cheaply maximize the market penetration of a product towards the end of its already monumentally long product lifecycle that has made a monumental amount of profit on mostly POST-initial-purchase micro transactions.... real tough checkmate is gamers put R* in.
1) Cerny did cite that larger CUs run more efficiently, and one PS5 CU is larger than one XsX CU. So, the jury is still how what the GPU power gap will actually look like.
2) Also, that PS5 SSD isn’t just for slightly better loadtimes.... it’s the most expensive component on a competitively priced product, so it is reasonable to expect that Sony didn’t include it for decoration, either
The difference is that Sony fans have a ton of faith in Sony, even though they’ve promised almost nothing for PS5 yet. And, M$ fans are stuck hoping that the first batch of exclusives for the XsX in 18-24 months will be worth a $500 purchase.
The reason for the difference in trust is because PS4 delivered even more 10’s-level exclusives than ps3, and M$ made their fan base wait a while console gen for a 9 like Gears 5.
Even if Sony did the bare minimum, ...
You are confrontational, or do not like to read.... I very clearly agree with you. All I said was that it does not improve ALL games.
A steady 60 fps does NOT improve ANY game... I hate The Last of Us at 60 fps, it loses it’s cinematic feel, so I’m thrilled that I can toggle it.
Yes, plenty of games deserve to run at 60 fps. Any competitive game or game heavily reliant on timing tends to benefit from a higher frame rate.
Looking at the amount of detail running at 30 fps for UE5, is anybody worried about games running at 60 fps on next gen consoles? Sure, they won’t look THAT good if...
Everything Cerny promised in the dev presentation is being delivered I this real-time gameplay demo.
You typed too much.
You must be an Xbox fanboy, because you assume an impressive demo like this is an empty promise, just like the entire Xbone generation.
PS4 delivered graphics on par with the UE4 demo within it’s first year, so everyone is expecting the PS5 to also deliver graphics on par with this demo within 2021.
The real question is whether Halo Infinite will look better, or even as good as this (and how the XsX price will compare, too)
And this is why "console exclusives" will always be a "thing": they are noticeably better.
Double I/O throughput > +18% teraflops across 40% more smaller CUs
One metric I thought was interesting was “time to have visuals up and running in game development”:
-ps1: 1-2 months
-ps2: 3-6 months
-ps3: 6-12 months
-PS4: 1-2 months
-PS5: < 1 month
It’s gonna come down to the launch game... which will show off the hardware better?
Halo Infinite with 18% more teraflop output and an already out of date SSD, or Killzone with a machine personally tailored to its needs
Cerny says the SSD is so fast, particularly due to its custom components, that they can use the SSD as RAM
The sexual abuse was handled perfectly BECAUSE it was told through audio tapes. Sounds like pants-zippers and wimpers are WAY less graphic than cut scenes.
Imo, Kojima made an excellent decision to include the most graphic parts of the game, the rape(s?), in the form of mere audio instead of graphic and exploitative cutscenes. This artistic choice improves the game on two levels:
1) Avoids the long cutscenes the series is known for (and, for the most part, not in ...
For crying out loud....I cannot believe people are still considering Ground Zeroes a full MGS game...Kojima said before it was released that it was just the greatest tutorial ever (and I love it).
The only reason the "V" is included in Ground Zeroes' title is because of something plot related (you should know by now). Note how it is a bright red "V" instead of a number, like every other game... If they dropped the "V," then they might as we...
In my honest opinion, you really only are starting to play this game when you are playing at least on Hard, with no markers or reflex mode; and ideally without action icons (With extensive experimentation and practice, it is very possible. You just need to learn the rules.).
Yes, it takes a few hours of practice to feel comfortable playing with these settings (it took me at least 7-8 hours to turn off the action icons, and it was well worth it) but that is the point: just li...
It's not just any tutorial though. It is a tutorial for an incredibly difficult game. A game so difficult, that a game mechanic like "reflex mode" doesn't make it easy one bit; just manageable.
We all have a year so that we can master this game, become as skilled as Snake himself; to tune our skills to the point where we can play the game on Hard, with no hud, markers, reflex mode, or even action icons.
You may think this is crazy, but...
What settings are you using? Normal/Hard? Markers? Reflex Mode? In other words, did you achieve all of this while still using the game's "training wheels?"
This is not news. This is just how things get shinier. Nothing is free, somebody has to do the work. This is why DLC and MTXs are so common after the ps2 gen.
