Releasing a game on PC years after its initial launch, long after the game was a reason bought a piece of hardware just to play it, is very different from releasing games on PC as well, day 1.
If: “Profit of releasing on Xbox” < “dev cost to get game to run on a Series S”
Then: game is not made for Xbox.
Either Xbox has to pay them to port, or Xbox needs to grow as a market.
Sony said they aren’t doing big showcases anymore. They are gonna try just delivering games instead.
Xbox needs to show something, but Sony has cultivated trust.
Sony explicitly said they aren’t doing vertical slice showcases anymore; they will show the game 6 months from release, when it is in a beta stage, and that’s it.
So, you were wrong to expect that from Sony; Sony expects you to trust them now.
This is because every preview delays a game’s release 6-12 months, each. And when games take 5-6 years of a console’s lifespan to develop, they can’t afford delays.
Sony’s strategy is to train us to trust them, which allows devs to “dev” more and “market” less.
Xbox’s strategy is to earn back their eroded trust.
Both seem to be achieving their goals. I wanna see Sony’s games, but I’d rather play them sooner than see them sooner.
I wish Xbox could afford to do the same. I’d bet on them doing Sony’s low key marketing once they can pull it off…
I want to see a live demo, not just a polished vertical slice, but the mechanics look brilliant.
It’s great to see an FPS that is different in every way.
Showcases delay a game release 6-12 months, per preview.
Sony openly stated that they will be leveraging their established past consistency with output by not showcasing much at all until a game is 6 months of less from release. This is because games already take too long to develop without additional marketing delays.
For example, look how late of a reveal Spider-Man 2 got.
Xbox doesn’t have this luxury as an option, because they have...
Clearly you did not watch Cerny’s first ps5 breakdown, so you don’t appreciate EVERYthing Cerny did to leverage their extremely fast SSD.
Yah, hence the majority of the PS5’s hardware investment going towards an SSD instead of a GPU.
There are countless custom pc gaming rigs out there, and I bet none of them took an SSD-centric approach to their design, like the ps5 did.
It’s quite handy…. What’s wrong with a faster extract?
When a constant stream of connection delays a game 1-2 years, and said games take 5 years to make anyways…. Sony fans are better off trusting Sony to deliver than expecting frequent confirmation.
Sony should try and stay radio silence outside of hard reveals.
It’s painful to wait for any info at all, but it’s less painful than skimming an interview that avoids all details whatsoever.
Commit to radio silence, Sony. You can afford to leverage the trust in gaming output that you’ve cultivated.
You project your own views on the world, and that is a mistake.
I’m glad the community embraced the challenge, because it was a VERY challenging mission.
The arc thrower is my go-to to keep them off the drill.
I don’t think this cutscene compares in impact to Overwatch’s random videos, but it seems like it was supposed to.
They have alotta characters to work with, and time to try again.
This game will succeed or fail based on the feel, so the beta will decide a lot.
If people keep giving up on the Dark Fluid missions, then we’ll never even manage to blow up Meridia…
No irreversible destruction = No alien attention
Who says the community is dissolving from patches, if at all?
If Helldivers 2 is anything to go by, and I think it is, then GaaS can clearly work if they aren’t designed to milk the community slowly with diminishing quality of follow up content.
Are you triggered?
