I’d argue the OG Xbox is what motivated the engineering and more-difficult coding for the stronger ps3, which made games like MGS4, Uncharted 1-3, and Last of Us possible.
Gaming hasn’t been downhill since Xbox joined the market; it’s been downhill since Xbox lost CliffyB and Bungie, but decided to invest in multimedia camera integration instead of new studios to make new IP’s.
Also, Xbox Live pushed Sony to improve their service.
With cold storage possible on an external, there’s really no need for an 8 to SSD, that’s just a huge luxury.

What will be Xbox’s strategy to stop this bleeding next gen? How do they signal to consumers “OK, we went multiplat last gen to support the/our historically largest media purchase in history…. But this gen you will totally need to buy an Xbox to play Xbox Studios’ games.”

I loved Escalation of Freedom, because it stopped lazy teammates from relying on the fire shotty to light the whole map on fire, regardless of how many teamkills it causes.
