Agreed, devs don’t take risks with refreshing approaches to AAA projects anymore. Too many devs make the same 3rd person action adventure…
*Data shows Xbox needs to sell their previously exclusive games on PS5 in order for their $80 billion purchase to make sense financially.
^^this, every game coming to PS5 is either more than 10 years old, or a game that was in development for PS5 before M$ gobbled up everything they could to keep Xbox afloat monetarily.
Let’s see if Xbots are willing to pay for a game for once, otherwise Helldivers 2 might be the first and last game Sony shares back.
It’s always thrilling to see teams actually do new stuff in the AAA space. Their new merging mechanic looks like an idea RE should’ve thought of years ago.
That wouldn’t add up?
Xbox was outsold 1:5, so their market size is too small to exclusively support a AAA game investment.
Siege X sucks and was a disappointment of a “big announcement”. I tried to like it, but it will not click for me. They should’ve made a proper sequel instead of reheating the current decade-old game…
Look at Ready or Not, a game that is everything R6 used to be, and more with their own unique innovations (ie 3 different reloads). That game has sold 10 million copies.
Siege promised me at launch an eventual beta for a hardcore mode… and it never arrived...
Agreed.
Don’t diminish criticisms as a vocal minority. That just wasn’t the case. Ghost of Tsushima was better than your competing project; get over it.
If he played the game, which he should’ve as a gaming CEO, he would’ve realized the core mechanics were thin at best, with ZERO original ideas.
Why would I pay full price for an easy, simplistic game?
I would’ve bought a better game, a game that was meant for an older, more dedicated gamer. I don’t pay full price for half baked visions.
I love the “don’t let them merge” mechanic…Three cheers for new ideas in gaming!
They did a good job not showing too much, imo.
My prayers have been answered. Thank you.
If they keep ES6 multiplatform, then we’ll be even for sharing Helldivers 2.
That’s fair, right?
Why would I need bullet plates for zombies? Do they have bullets for teeth?
Guys, Phil already addressed this concern: the games ARE coming. Relax.
In other news, water is STILL wet.
This is such old-news at this point that it is painful to acknowledge fully. Did we really need the recent layoffs and cancellations to face this truth? We’ve been on this path for 10-15 years at this point.
Microsoft insisted that Game Pass is the “games are coming” that they promised, but it was just a bandaid solution when they realized how lucky they were for Halo and Gears to pan out so well. It’s almost like ico...
You could say that about literally any sequel, and there are plenty of them.
Still, none of them are reviewed anywhere nearly as high. The vast majority of of 5’s.
I’m not upset about it, but I am curious why Xbox gets Helldivers 2, but I don’t get Stalker 2. What was traded?
I bought an OG Xbox back in the day.
They deserve credit for:
-Halo 1-3
-Gears 1-3
-Lost Odyssey
-Stalker 2 (never ever would’ve been finished without a savior investor)
-South of Midnight (very cool game, albeit doesn’t seem to becoming iconic anytime soon).
They used to do it, just never that often. Imo, they didn’t need to make as many great games as Sony, just a handful every gen… I guess that was asking t...
I was so pumped for this game…. Why can’t M$ manage l make iconic games from scratch anymore? Gaming needs their contributions, and we all lose when they don’t deliver.
This really, really sucks. The gameplay, even if just a vertical slice, looked fantastic.
It started with the firing of CliffyB instead of allowing him to make a new game besides Gears, and Bungie quit because they weren’t allowed to make Destiny for Xbox instead of Halo.
It continued with the Kinect, and then they managed to miss the mark AGAIN with the Series S.
Game Pass is an innovation, but it’s proving to be the sort of model that relies on maximum adoption (ie the need to NOT be outsold by Sony globally 5:1).
And now ...
