He just wants to normalize the practice so that their is social pressure for Sony to do the same.
The only problem there is that I can think of 4 AAA ps5 games that are much more attractive for porting solely on their own than any 4 X/S AAA games combined.
It won’t be a fair trade for Sony. Just go back to making games M$, we’re all waiting for Halo to be great again.
It’s supposed to help us all by motivating competitors, like M$, to compete by making their own great games. Too bad M$ is somehow above the natural machinations of capitalism…
Way to sidestep your own failings by demonizing the success of others.
Sony invested in Helldivers 2 for NINE years. When has M$ done the same for a AA game?
Pay to play Helldivers 2 instead.
Go enjoy Suicide Squad without us.
You sound paid for.
I think you’re overlooking the variety of mobs and weapons.
Maybe the game manages to launch with 2 years of preproduction leading up to DS2 in 2025, and then MAYBE releases in 2028 as the ps5 swan song, after 3 years of development.
Or, maybe the ps5 justifies AAA support for a full ten years, and leaves a healthy window for Kojima. I know that’s well above how long a console gen typically lasts, but it took awhile before we saw games like Spider-Man 2 that legitimately looked like they needed a hardware upgrade.
A responsible data reporter would have comparable data for comparison…. Only a 72% drop for a $10 upgrade might be outstanding, but we can’t tell because the author clearly has an agenda already…
I don’t play games to “keep busy”, but to each’s own.
It’s $10 for a new mode… either buy it or don’t.
People need to have higher standards for how they choose to invest their finite time.
It’s entirely possible to end a 100 hour journey, and look back with disappointment and unfulfilled expectations.
But if it took you a full 100 hours to NOT enjoy it, then what kept you so hopeful the entire time?
FIND another game…
THE best part of Horizon games, imo, is the robot enemies and combat.
Take that away, and I’ll most likely disregard it just like I disregard GT7 (at least until the VR mode sold me on VR overall).
$70 isn’t what DLC should cost.
Well said… it’s literally crazy that Xbots make excuses for M$ of all companies not being able to sustainably make AAA games, when a company a small fraction of their size and might manages to do just THAT.
M$ has the money to risk, but they clearly are unable to wield it effectively with AAA video game production. I hope that changes, because Halo 2 is still a GOAT for me…. But I refuse to lower my standards for them.
II loved thee original, but don’t want a sequel.
Why didn’t they just expand the studio?
Sony? I was counting on this being on the ps5… you slayed a golden goose today.
Alien VR… you’re sitting on a safe investment opportunity. VR owners are always hungry for new games.
Heck, explore RTS feasibility in VR, too. One hand washes the other…
Don’t chase fortnite.
“Unfortunate”?!?
They 100% did this to themselves.
They under invested in their studios, and over invested in media bad mouthing their competition for making exclusives (ie investing in THEIR own studios, like M$ should have been doing…), and the diminishing returns on Game Pass have proven M$ wrong: people DO want great AAA exclusives made for their console of choice. 3rd party games available elsewhere are not enough for hardware investment.
...
What about hermaphroditism? That is thoroughly medically documented…
Anybody that believes console exclusives are toxic also doesn’t appreciate the risk the consoles take on investing in such monumental projects.
The medium is richer because of boundary-pushing exclusives like Spider-Man 2 and Last of Us, and Zelda and Mario.
They raise the bar to show what is possible.
Consoles that don’t invest in exclusives don’t care about advancing the medium; they are just frustrated that money doesn’t translate au...
