I’m not getting game pass. Stop trying to starve me out.
I think you raise solid points. I certainly don’t understand how to value a publisher over a studio…. Did Microsoft even need another publisher?
I kinda agree with the first reply, in that they might’ve bought the whole package just to get the gems. Comic collectors will do this: they’ll have somebody buy their whole $20k collection just to allow the buyer to acquire the dozen or so really rare gems that the buyer is REALLY after.
Because they waited a few years this time for a sequel?
The $8 billion Microsoft spent amounts to only 5 studios that I have bought games from before. I think Sony would’ve spent under about $1.2 billion to acquire 5 comparable studios.
I know Microsoft has more money to burn than Sony, but that is a huge difference between returns on different acquisition strategies.
Microsoft paid top dollar for each Zenimax studio. To put this in context, they paid more on average for each Zenimax studios dev than Sony p...

“All”? What other remakes?
It’ll more likely be a free or a $10 upgrade. If $10 is keeping you from buying a AAA game, then I suggest that you try making one of your own.
I can count hundreds of games that were over $70 with the DLC. More and more of the average game’s content has been pushed to DLC in order to keep the base game under $70. But with DLC, the complete game ends up costing anywhere from $70-90, which was the exact price hike that was being considered at the dawn of the X360/ps3; and, by no coincidence, DLC became common place right after this price hike didn’t happen.
Alotta factors go into being profitable from media, it’s ...
It’s nice that the Zenimax acquisition will benefit Xbox in 2021. They need it.
You don’t see a difference in acquiring one studio after over a decade of collaboration, instead of panic buying the largest single media purchase in history in order to make up ground when you’re a whole generation behind with game innovation?
Gotta love the Tikhar with the dualsense
Mario 64 was worth $70 in 1996, and you couldn’t even count Mario’s noise hairs yet.
Why do you think DLC started?
How much did Mario 64 cost a launch. Don’t deflect, tell me. Bonus points for calculating what the cost would be today with inflation.
Did you know that games go on sale? And that Mario 64 retailed for $70 in 1996?
If $10 is a barrier to a game that was most likely announced over a year before its release, then you are not financially stable. You couldn’t afford the ps5 when you managed to find it.
Games don’t make themselves, and they certainly don’t implement photo realism detail all on their own, either. They take time and effort, and both deserve fair compensation.
Xbox fans are toxic by supporting a company that doesn’t deliver on promises.
Sony delivers on cg trailers, so there’s trust there.
Xbox has flat out not delivered for an entire gen.
Are you? They lied to you and me for an entire gen because they didn’t know what to do when Halo and Gears games magically stopped being impressive. They didn’t even anticipate losing their creative leads having an impact on these tent pole franchises.
I want my money back for my Xbone. It didn’t deliver on Kinect, Azure cloud gaming, the haptic triggers, or games AT ALL.
I don’t believe you.
It’s not a war, it’s an intervention: stop buying their empty promises.
