If Twilight Princess is coming out for Gamecube, I may go out and buy a used one at Gamestop. I think it is a mistake for Nintendo to release their killer app on their older system while they are trying to get people to upgrade to the newer one. They should be wanting people to get rid of their Gamecubes, not hanging on to the ones they have or even worse, going out and buying more of them.
I went out and bought a 360 Premium today. :-) (Well, that and the $100 rebate from Micro Center :-D).
Then why did Sony go digital download only for the last Everquest expansion?? I refuse to buy any piece of software that doesn't come on a physical medium for backup purposes. And what happens to those still stuck with dial up?? A 30GB download at 56k is not an insignificant amount of time.
to all sides in a war is a good means to a fast profit but can also be very dangerous. In this case, a massive meltdown in the games industry like the one in 1984 would hurt IBM if they are depending too heavily on the income from their chip foundries to keep their books balanced.
Blu-Ray may be welcome by high end graphics professionals who need a higher capacity removable medium than DVD-9, but does it really mean anything to the average computer user?? It has been said elsewhere that watching movies destroys hardware. Macs are expensive enough as it is without the drive failing every year because you've been using your computer as a DVD player. I don't think there will be very many happy faces on those who buy a Blu-Ray Mac when the drive (the tres EXPENSIVE drive, ...
Is irrelevant to what happens in other markets. We can't even play the same games they do because of region coding, so on that point alone, the Japanese, North American and European market machines should be considered distinctly separate. Now that they will be able to flash the roms in the consoles. they will likely be able to disable mod chips and enforce their region coding. Maybe they (Sony) will even go so far as to install a root kit on all PS3's that will stop unapproved mods or unlic...
EA's strength in consoles has been in it's sports titles. It's non-sports games haven't been very good, historically. So while an EA produced console may have the best looking versions of Madden, NASCAR, Baseball,Basketball, Soccer and Hockey, they won't have enough of other types of games to get anyone to buy.
and only deliver 150,000 of course you're going to sell out. Duh! Nintendo delivered 3x as many and they sold out, too, plus they have the advantage of having more on the way while Sony still struggles with production issues so who has more cause to be happy??
With the crippling UK system of taxes and levies, the top PS3 will likely come in at 500-600 pounds, which at current exchange rates is in the $1000-$1100 range, so they are about to get shafted worse than any of us in North America or Asia. It is likely to be just as bad in most of the rest of Europe, as well.
in that they can sit back for a few more months and see how things play out among the Big 3 and then make a better informed decision on which system(s) to buy and which to leave on the shelf. However, I see this as being good news for the European 360 team in that they will have a Christmas season go by without PS3 to compete with, which is going to be bad for Sony. By the time spring arrives, everyone looking for a reasonably priced and high def gaming experience, will have bought a 360 and...
Mmmmmm.....tacos...drool
They must be easily amused, then.
They shouldn't make the service for PS3 owners only. The PSP is a separate system from PS3. PSP owners should be able to download games from their PC or over their WiFi connections and not have to pay $500-$600 just so they can download PSone games.
nobody wants them anymore
Nice job Sony. Underproduction for launch day, suck ass launch titles, small likelihood of getting enough out to make a decent showing at Christmas, losing all your 'exclusive' games because your devs don't want to miss out on the Christmas season waiting for you to get units into the stores, the highest per unit production cost of any game console in history, the highest retail price since the Neo Geo, crappy online support, are you paying someone to come up with all the ways you can possibly...
I have been a collector of Star Wars games since Sega released Star Trek Strategic Operations Simulator way back in the Atari/Commodore home computer era, and they all pretty much suck.It is really rough for Trek fans to read about a new game, get hyped for it, and it reeks worse than a dead skunk in the middle of the road. Star Wars fans are rarely disappointed with the latest Lucasfilm games. Maybe Star Trek is just cursed as a video game franchise.
To download a rental?? If I'm going to spend that kind of time downloading a movie, I better be able to keep it and watch it whenever I damn well like, even if they charge me more for it. It's hella easier just to leg it down the video store or get a pay per view on cable if you're into renting films, which I'm not.
the article states this was the first XBox 360 title announced, but the trailer says fall of 2007 as release date. XBox 360 will have been out 2 years by that time. What the hell have been doing all this time and will anyone still be interested??
Umm..what did we get on PS2 launch day?? Street Fighter EX3? Orphen, Scion of Scorcery? Tekken Tag? Oni? Fantavision? Fusion Frenzy? Sony is staying true to form as far as launch titles go.
Nintendo has never been a company that took a loss on their gaming hardware. Things were pretty tight for them during the Gamecube years, and they took their first ever loss on hardware for a short time to undercut XBOX and PS2, but now with PS3 being priced out of reach for many, and 360 selling at a higher price point than XBOX 1, Nintendo can start getting some of their profits back. I may not like Nintendo's weak hardware and girly games, but at least they aren't afraid to try new things ...
