That after a while the PS2 laser in the large consoles, (not the downsized ones that came later) go funny with certain types of discs. I can't play any game that comes on a blue disc in my PS2 now because of it and sometimes PS1 discs and a few movie discs say "No Data" after it tries to read them. A lot of PS2's do this, not just mine.

That is what the video game rating boards were created for. Other government departments should not be allowed to coerce game makers into altering or cancelling their games once the rating board gives their approval.

keep my movie player seperate from my games console this time around. My PS2's laser wore out from watching movies. I wouldn't spend $600 on a console only to have the disc player burn out a year down the road after playing my 500th movie in it. If I want Hi Def movie capability, I'll buy a separate machine for it and keep my games console around a little longer.

I decided not to do a preorder of the new consoles or wait outside Best Buy all night. I figured there would be plenty of 360's with deals out there for anyone who wasn't able to get a PS3 or a Wii on the first day. I didn't get a discount bundle like many did, but I got $100 rebate, which is just as nice and made the 360 a far better buy than either Wii or PS3.

It's a last gen system with a new controller. It's cheap and has games kids and parents like, so that will make it a good seller, but serious gamers will relegate it to a secondary system, if they buy it at all. Nintendo will get away with a lack of hi-tech this time around, but the generation that comes after this will require a huge leap in technology once everyone has HDTV. Nintendo won't be able to use cheap pricing as a selling point anymore because the tech that will have to go into the...

is not the system to be going exclusive on right now. They better have a 360 version in the works or it's going to be lean times for Konami.

even if they do have the money. They would rather keep making underpowered machines and games for 6 year old kids. The freakin V-Smile ( http://www.vtechkids.com/pr... is probably more powerful than the Wii.

is that not everyone has the same technology in their system, so they can't really make an OMFG incredible game without leaving a lot of people unable to play it. They have to allow gamers with older tech in their computers to play, too, if they want any kind of decent sales. You don't have that problem with a console because they are all the same. That's why Halo for PC is biggest piece of crap I have ever seen. They couldn't optimize it for high end hardware.

What they are saying is if there are 10 million 360 owners out there with an attach rate of 10, that means that 100 million games were sold. If there is an installed base of 50 million, with an attach rate of only 3, that is 150 million games sold. So with a lower attach rate, but a larger installed base, publishers can potentially make more money, so number of hardware units sold is more important than attach rate, unless both happen to be very high, which would be a dream for them.

Come on guys. You're camping out in Australia when you only have 3 months to go at home?? I can see if you had a year or more to wait, you might be desperate, but come on. Is it really worth the expense of airfare and accommodations to be the first to have one in your country? And what do you do if it breaks? Your local Nintendo affiliated repair center probably won't fix it since the serial number was shipped to another market, so it's back off to Australia to get it fixed. Then you have reg...

but when you announce a game and nobody hears from you again until a year later and all you really have to say is that it will be another year before it is out, people tend to lose interest. A lot of people don't have big money to spend on games, so when 5 or 6 games come out at the same time, it usually down to deciding which one or two you will get. The company that made two major announcements in the last two years, is unlikely to be the game of choice.

if they can manage to keep the framerates high and avoid glitchiness. Until then, I don't think there will be very much on that level out for PS3 anytime soon.

but playing a last gen system with a new controller doesn't do it for me. I'll probably end up getting one for exclusives as a secondary system, but I'm just not in a rush to have one right now.

Why you so hostile?? I'm not asking that links to non-English sites not be posted, just that someone gives the courtesy of a warning so people who don't speak other languages won't waste time clicking on the links.

Most of the store display kiosks in my area were broken within a week of the stores receiving them. :-D

360 will be an end of life product by then and a new XBox that is fully HD compliant will be on the way, so it doesn't matter if they have that functionality built in now or not because HD sets are still in the minority and will be for a while yet.

I'm an American and I was first in line to pre-order PS2 at my local Gamestop before it was released. I have hundreds of PS1 and PS2 games that I was looking forward to playing on PS3 because my PS2 laser died from being used as a movie player. With

the high price,

all the 'features' that I am not going to use for a few years, if ever,

store display units that are frozen or turned off because they don't work,

underdelivering on their launch promise,...
