Of course it's artificial, these guys have been doing anything they can to cover the fact that there engine is trash and the game, technically unimpressive.

Nah, as long as the retail content is worth what you paid for it, it doesn't matter when the additional content was made.

All developers have to 'make sacrifices' .

For example, killzone looks good, but its far from photorealistic, and it pales in comparison to what PCs are already doing. You dont think GG would have liked to have the single player locked at 60fps or the MP match the fidelity of the SP? Maybe that's something for the next killzone.

Tradeoffs are a given part of the development process. The notion that Forza made some terrible compromises to reach pe...

It's a pc. So you can just use your xbox or DS4 controller for those types of games....

Except console launches don't generally happen together. 6th gen launches happened over 3 years. 7th gen happens over 2 years, with the wii and ps3 being very different in price. The wii u is priced like current gen consoles. So this 8th gen situation with two similarly priced consoles coming withing weeks of each other is unprecedented .

Is there anyone who didn't expect a sequel?
What are the chances they actually build a next gen engine for it? I won't hold my breath...

@pixel_enemy the ps4 games WILL perform better. but, I still don't see how that would be 'damning'. People buy games for the system they have. And people don't by systems for graphics alone.

There once was a time when 360 multiplats outperformed the ps3, but the ps3 was still successful. Now the ps3 tends to outperform the 360 multiplats, but 360 games are still selling. For example GTA V technically, performs better on PS3, but most people wouldnt care or not...

Why would that matter? They'd still be releasing on the same day...
360 was easier to develop for than the ps3, and development time per platform didn't matter at all...

It's not really damning at all. It appears that the PS4 is easier to develop for, but given time and experience with the Xbox One's architecture, and improved tools from MS, Xbox games will perform better.

This is really nothing new, and occurs during every console transition.

Both Sony and PS have limited their preorder allotment so that they could have product on the shelves during the holidays shopping season.

My TV takes a good 10 seconds to boot up. I don't have one of those fancy universal remotes, so it's good to know I'll be able to manipulate my entire entertainment system vocally, and have it set for the situation before the TV even turns on.

Not a killer app per se, but its a nice touch.

That's actually great. When I got my 360 from best buy, they only had 8 on launch day. Some best buys had less than 5. There were several hundred people lined up, and it was simply pandemonium, as people tried to fight their way to the front of the line.

Only having 20 at each wont do much to stop the pandemonium, but at least 20 people will find the fight worth it.

The best buy employees I spoke to were not allowed to buy consoles until they were able to...

I'm not sure why people are going gaga over numbers without looking at the context. This game isn't even graphically intensive. The wii u would probably get 1080p 60fps on it.

Killzone at 1080p 30+ fps is impressive. Especially since we're only at launch. This at 1080p 60fps should be a given.

The fact that it's a 20 year old design isn't a bad thing either. It's not like d-pads have undergone any dramatic technological advances over the years.

Glad to see they went to something that is proven to work perfectly, and away from that abomination that is the 360dpad

I haven't been interested in COD since mw2. It seems like every iteration takes away more of the element of skill in multiplayer. Not only that but the visuals leave so much to be desired. Every year it feels like a $60 expansion pack, instead of a new game.

And ghosts appears to suffer from the same issues. Even the next gen visuals are atrocious (and that's before you factor in the xb1 resolution). Their attempt at destructible environments is laughable. And there&#...

There are BF4 maps and game modes that don't require those long distance runs... Still, I understand your sentiments.... Different strokes for different folks.

That said, if you compare the technical strides the two franchises have made over the last generation, it's hard to argue COD hasn't been by far, the more stagnant.

I don't the all f2p is created equally, so they should be judged on a case by case basis.
In terms of anticonsumerism, abusive F2p = overpriced DLC = full priced games with little content.

But all premium DLC isn't bad, some full priced games have excellent value, and some f2p games are perfectly fair.

Think about it. trophies (achievements) exist to give players more reason to continue playing a game. It's artificial repeatability. By only giving platinum status to folks who play online as well, publishers are hoping that players hold on to their copies longer, which keeps games from being resold.

I don't see any reason why publishers would want to separate the two.

I guess you didn't understand my comment. I have nothing against indie games, I rather enjoy many of them, but a lot of the games I'm seeing from these smaller studios don't seem to justify the purchase of a new $400 machine. Many of them could surely be handled by my non-gaming PC. So it's hard for me to get excited about them at this point.

Like I said, I hope I'm wrong.
