Apparently the guy was banded only until launch day. Considering the online service is still in beta, that makes perfect sense. You dont want someone who isnt a beta tester, and is t under NDA, having access to unfinished code and spreading info that may not be indicative of the final product. He'll be able to get online on the release build, just like everyone else.
That was an intriguing video. I bet the next xb1 sku, will have a coax input and come from the cable providers, subsidized my your cable contract. This would allow the providers to incorporate their branding, while allowing MS complete control over the interface (DVR).
How's THAT for a Trojan horse? "Switch to Comcast and sign this 2yr agreement and we'll throw in a video game console."
There's more to this TV strategy than meets the ey...
Like he said, hopefully it's just a temporary ban until launch day. If the UI or Xbox live service is still in beta, I can understand why MS wouldn't want an unofficial person stooping around yet.
If its a permanent ban, then that's fucked up. Of course, we here at N4G reserve the right to instantly jump to the most negative conclusion in all MS related matters.
Well, I think it's good that they priced it high, so that way people will be less likely to use Microtransactions. That means more people will be playing their way instead of paying their way.
I wouldn't be surprised if he was temporarily banned until Nov 22nd... Which is perfectly reasonable considering the online experience might not be ready for consumption yet. I could be wrong, but I wouldn't over react just yet.
Lol senseless fun... I can't wait
Yeah the price point will be a big deal for some people. But others will see the value in it. The kinect bundle sold well, particularly in households where multiple people were interested in the device. Besides the console won't be $500 forever.
I really don't think you read my comment because I didn't mention anything about "winning the generation". In fact my conclusion was "MS is undoubtedly going to put up a big fight". I think you just see things through a hostile fanboy lens.
1: No recent history is showing that the vocal minority is getting louder. The Neogaf, N4G crowd doesn't represent a a majority of the gaming community. Neither does the twitter community. Those can be good...
1: history suggests the majority won't care or notice. I can't think of the last time in history where the most powerful console was the best selling of its generation, but...
2: 1st place, 2nd place, 3rd place... That's not the only measure of success. The ps3 didnt outsell the wii, but the ps3 was still successful. same with the xbox 360. Compared to the previous generation, Microsoft gained an impressive amount of marketshare and looks to continue to find succe...
I'm not sure why people are so intent to write Microsoft off. Sure, a couple of their launch games are only 720p. We're talking total sales... And the majority of the people buying/playing these games won't care/notice the difference.... And that's not to say resolution doesn't matter (it does!) it just doesn't matter right now in the grand theme of things. Chances are, the next wave of xb1 games will achieve 1080p.
What does matter right now is games...
Some people will hate the mere existence of this, but if it ties into Xbox live rewards I'm all in. People in my family that don't use the Xbox for core gaming could still rack up points while watching TV And who knows, maybe my wife will be watching The Walking Dead, and the Xbox will recommend the walking dead game to her... Bringing more people into gaming is always good.
Just about all games attempt to max out the hardware, but with familiarity comes the ability to use the hardware more efficiently. Naught Dog figured out how to make better games inspite of the hardware's limits. I don't think crytek is implying that Ryse two wouldn't have better performance than Ryse. Their just trying to dispel the idea that there exists a machine that can handle whatever you throw at it without breaking a sweat or that making 'trade offs' is a sign of a...
I think this would be a huge mistake. I get it, enterprise needs to be their main focus, but its clear that the R&D justified by their gaming arm is leading to technologies that will benefit the company as a whole, not to mention boltster the use of other MS products like Azure, Bing and Windows phone. XBOX has the potential to be a great 'Trojan horse' so to speak...
Anyway, I wouldn't think this would happen for the next 7 years or so, so maybe the future of...
Well this is an article about a next gen xb1 game, and if we didn't focus on negative, we wouldn't be n4g... it's no different from the all the attention that the negative ryse articles get... despite the majority of previews viewed the game in a positive light.
This is a huge deal... Microsoft will have a hit in their hands if they keep finding ways to get everyone in the house to use the xbox.
There are quite a few bandwagons Nintendo would do well to jump on... achievements wouldn't be at the top of the priority list.
Of course not, any positive previews must be paid for by MS. There's no way anyone could like this game! /s
I don't doubt at all that MS was using stock footage (Its no secret that PS4 is the primary platform) but I'm baffled that they haven't figured out a way to properly vet this material before publishing it. Understandably, they want to market the fact that the game will appear on their platform, but they don't have the footage to do so, because it doesn't exist, but their are solutions.
All they had to do was post the video with the message "this video...
I'd like to rent some games, but I wouldn't do it enough to warrant getting a subscription to gamefly, and most of the rental outlets near me have shut down. I don't understand why there are no digital game rental services on XBOX LIVE and PSN. They do it with movies... Surely those AA titles would be a lot more profitable if something like this was offered.
that would be an accurate assessment if all it could do was provide multi-HDMI input. Considering its also a game console, a voice/gesture controlled universal remote, and a hub for streamed entertainment content, and allows access to all of these functions from a single interface, your analogy falls a little flat.
