I know graphics aren't everything, but I just don't understand why they are having so much trouble making a NBA Live game that can compete. There once was a time when 2k had to sell their games for $20, just to get people to check it out.
This situation makes me think of what could have been had the nfl not awarded EA the exclusivity deal. I truly enjoy the new Madden, but I feel Tiburon would have been usurped without the monopoly.
Wow, looks really good. Great draw distance, with an impressive number of enemies on screen. solid framerate, and it appears they've removed the clunky controls of the previous games.
Subtle kinect integration, clever smart glass integration, campaign co-op... I'm sold!
According to the preorders, the typical mainstream COD player is getting the 360 version by a humungous margin. Followed by the ps3 version. The XB1 version is 3rd most popular, followed by the PS4 version.
Apparently, folks don't use resolution to make their purchasing decision, they just buy it on the console they have, or the one their friends will be playing. The typical gamer doesn't even know their is a 'resolutiongate'
'Resolutiongate' isn't as damning for the xb1 as folks make it out to be. Now that the reviews are out, it's clear that the game runs like shit on all platforms. This is probably the result of IW being spread thin, trying to launch a game on PC,XB1,PS4,PS3,XB360,WiiU simultaneously. Not only that, but the dev environments for the next gen consoles were constantly in flux. Couple that with the fact that ACTIVISION is so intent on having an annual release, that they didn't b...
Right, but that speaks more to the crappiness of the games programming than the power of the xb1. COD: GHOSTS runs like crap on all platforms, even high end PCs, despite it being visually unimpressive.
No, chances are there will be system updates throughout the generation that reduce the footprint of the OS, including Kinect functions. This was the case with both the ps3 and the 360, so there's no reason to the the performance will remain static forever.
The kinect is allotted 10% of the GPU resources at the moment, and that it very substantial. But wit my system updates, they should be able to stablize the environment and give more to the devs.
@Black0o That's part of the equation, but it really isn't the meat of what they were showcasing. They were specifically distancing themselves from simply streaming a single instance of a game, and are developing architecture that will allow multiple servers to handle processes for a single users game.
What you are talking about it a limitation of clou streaming. What this article is talking about is cloud computing. This would be used to handle less latency dependent tasks like AI. It would also remove the limitations of having a fixed CPU, as you'd have an entire network to perform your calculations.
Imagine having thousands of full fledged AI on screen, without your local CPU taking a hit at all.
What this article is talking about is cloud computing, not streaming games from the cloud.
I think there is promise with cloud computing, but your links don't really show it.
I find it hard to believe enthusiasts of such a tech heavy industry like gaming would be so dismissive of emerging technologies. Instead of having the attitude that cloud computing is a joke (teh cloudz)and has no place in gaming, we should be rooting for progressive thinking and hoping for the next big breakthrough.
I for one, am looking forward to the future.
I was all in on this game until they announced the season pass. The IMO, the microtransactions should be covering the costs of the DLC for everyone. The idea of paying for maps in a strictly CO-OP MP game doesn't sit well with me, and the pay wall in front of the new maps, will lead to the game getting stale before its due. Oh well, maybe I'll pick it up at some point down the line.
Yeah lol, I don't know well it would work in sports games. I'd like to see some more human like bots in shooters. Maybe one that could play like my teammate if he loses connection, or lobbies fill with the bots of players, if not enough people join. Or maybe I can spar against a clans bots to get ready for a match.
@jay2 that's a BS excuse. The next gen consoles only reserve 5GB for gaming. And since BlOPs2 only needed 2GB, there's no reason this game would need six.
To put it in perspective, BF4, a far more intensive game, with a true physics engine, vehicles, huge maps, and 64 players, only calls for 4GB
a game that truly requires that much RAM would either be inefficient, or be simply so intensive that it would it legitamately needs more. COD:BO2 only needed 2GB, and ghosts isn't any more visually impressive. That said, it's unlikely that their engine became less efficient over time.
So,, A less gullible COD fan might see the 6GB requirement and be lead to believe that the new, "strategic destruction" , "3D audio", and the advanced fish AI is mor...
If you feel that the game is worth $60 as is, on the day you purchase it, then why does it matter when the extra content was created?
As long as your getting what you pay for, up front, then anything extra is... Extra... It's not like turn 10 is releasing the game with too few car to justify your initial purchase.
I hope they share this drivatar tech with othe xb1 developers. There are plenty of genre's that could benefit from a humanization of the bots
I don't know what some gamers have this slave mentality that developers should work for free. They think their $60 (which for some games doesn't even cover the dev costs), should also cover all of the post release support and server maintenance. It doesn't grow on trees.
There are plenty of launch titles that use it. Forza, BF4, Need for Speed, Madden, FIFA, Zumba Fitness, Zoo Tycoon, NBA Live, NBA 2k14, AC4, crimson dragon, dead rising 3, fantasia, fighter within...
This many developers fooling with it already likely means that there's more and better implementations on the way.
Of course it won't be long before this thread is filled with KINECT is useless, but I've got high hopes for it.
There will be plenty of casual applications (kinect sports, Xbox fitness, fantasia, etc), and multimedia applications (UI navigation, IR blaster/universal remote). But I'm more interested in the subtle implementation into hardcore games.
Head tracking and lean in BF4 and Forza is a good start. And the voice commands in BF4 will be very u...
I wish I could fly that well...I'm glad bf4 has a practice airfield...
Trying to learn on the fly didn't make my teammates too happy in previous games.
