Thank you for your sanity. I feel precisely the same. There are certain games that are day one buys for me, but most are not. I love single player, story driven games, and that is where my money goes. I haven't played an online multiplayer experience since Uncharted 2, if I remember correctly. I didn't even touch TLOU multiplayer, and I heard it was great, but it's really just not my thing and I don't have the time for it, or the patience to dea...
Yes, I agree. I don't buy many games, so this doesn't impact me significantly, but the point is Sony creates great single player experiences that I love, and will therefore pay for. While gamepass is great, I worry about Microsoft turning all their first party titles into games as a service....we've seen them talk about Halo's 10 year plan, and just iterating on the same game instead of putting out new numbered releases. The naming conventions for the new Forza Motorsport a...
I live in the USA and so I can accept a 69.99 dollar price for a game....it's not an egregious increase to me. When I look at pricing in other countries though, and see that in some places the same game will cost approximately 95-125 dollars, I have to wonder whether this pricing strategy is sustainable, because it seems outrageous to be paying close to 100 dollars or more for standard editions of next gen games. Crazy. And the sad thing is that price increase includes the hardware as ...
I agree with almost everything stated in the article, the one exception being the line about "with some wondering if the Xbox Series X has more exclusives announced then the PlayStation 5". Sony has focused on launch window games, of which they have shown many. Microsoft has no games coming from first party exclusive studios anytime soon, we have no idea when Halo will launch, and per Microsoft themselves every single first party title they have is still early in development, even...
I'm not happy with the way the conference or the preorders were handled....the thing that is confusing is how there could be so much misinformation about the games and what platforms they will be coming to in the conference, and how so much important information could be left out. The messaging was far from clear.
Having said that, I was fortunate to secure a preorder at 2-230 in the morning from best buy, which was the only site I could find throughout the previous ni...
Disgusting. And soooo preventable. Shame on Sony, and shame on the retailers. This is not a surprise, and this is not new. Good job alienating real gamers who actually want to support the products. What else is new. Some of these companies don't learn until the shaaaat hits the fan then they wonder what happened to the good will.
If you are dumb enough to pay the price scalpers ask for anything, you deserve the buttocks invasion you are getting. Support smart people and reputable companies. If you are so easily parted with your hard earned money, you are a damn fool.
I was fortunate to get in at best buy after much refreshing of cart and payment options at 2-230 in the morning eastern time usa.... chose paypal and they deducted the full balance of the 499 ps5 edition plus tax. I did that primarily because I don't want to hear not a word from best buy about availability. If you take the money day one, deliver. I will be ordering the series x from best buy, but through a different transaction method that will take payment on delivery november 10. Sa...
You snooze you lose? Is that what is to be expected after the wordwide head of Sony global marketing said gamers would get adequate notice of preorder information and gamers would not be blindsided? Stop your nonsense. This was/is an unmitigated disaster of Sony's own making. Their messaging has not been clear, nor has their implementation. Horrible.
I agree with you once again. Details are scarce and hype is high...understandable. Unfortunately there haven't even been rumors about ps5 expansion price capability or partners unlike the 220 estimate for the series x/s seagate expansion 1 tb drive. We need more info. I'm all in for ps5 and series x, but let's not give sony a pass for bungling this launch/preorder or the lack of definitive info, that also includes games and their exclusivity or not.
The Deathloop trailer was exceptional. The way you can affect the specific actions other main "boss" characters do in the game based on your approach to the mission was pretty fantastic to see. I loved the style and the gameplay.
@rpgsama
Yes. I tried accessing best buy's crippled system earlier in the night, no luck. Error after error. Woke up during the night and gave it another shot at around 2-230 eastern time usa. Still had many problems and had to refresh cart and payment screens several times, but finally it worked out and I got a preorder. We should not have to jump through hoops this way. Sony and the retailers dropped the ball on this. Sony's global head of marketing said in August th...
I feel your pain, but to say because you didn't get an invite and were also unable to pre-order now you're "switching sides" is insane. I wasn't happy at all about the preorder fiasco either. I didn't get an invite, and I didn't particularly like the way Sony handled that whole invite scenario anyway. I've owned every single playstation console....but I feel the invites probably went to gamers with a large social media following who are constantly posting ...
@aciddvl
In fairness, the series s is a good bargain if you don't have a 4k television and don't see yourself upgrading your tech for awhile. It's a good little system and with gamepass it offers a lot of value for money. True, you won't get Sony's exclusives, but for many, many gamers (most gamers, really) money is a factor and getting a cheaper system and not having to pay 60 plus dollars for every game you want to play is a big deal.

@sonyincelspotter
I disagree with you, but I found your comment humorous. You should change your username though....it's not great.
Aren't you supposed to build on the success of the last generation? I know this....Sony has exclusives I want to play. Microsoft has some interesting first party titles in development, but apparently they are all a long way from release date. Sony exclusive titles I want to play day one. Microsoft has gamepass which has some good titles, but nothing new from their first parties....the series x and s will be a 3rd party machine for the foreseeable future until some Microsoft first part...
@darthv72
You got waaayy too many downvotes for your message. I'm not personally a Halo fan, but I understand gamers who are and love it. I'll be getting a ps5 and a series x, but for the x the thing I'm currently most looking forward to is gamepass, due to my skipping the xbox one this gen, so there is a lot of value there for me. Most of Microsoft's other new first party titles look like they won't be ready for release anytime soon.

@ashunderfire86
I feel your pain. I did a bit of drinking after the Sony conference, paid no attention to phone or emails, and later on that night I discovered retailers were offering pre-orders early, before the Sept. 17th date Sony mentioned on their website/twitter but didn't even bother to mention in their conference. I went online to several retailers and was shhhh outta luck at all of them. Went to bed, woke up around 2-230 am and decided to give it a shot. None of the reta...
Clear and concise. This is much appreciated, unlike the clusterfluck that took place on sept. 16th. I was fortunate to secure a ps5 preorder, but having the preorder information available before preorders go live is the way this is supposed to function. I'm looking forward to series x.
