@unself
I feel your pain. I did a bit of drinking after the Sony conference, paid no attention to phone or emails, and later on that night I discovered retailers were offering pre-orders early, before the Sept. 17th date Sony mentioned on their website/twitter but didn't even bother to mention in their conference. I went online to several retailers and was shhhh outta luck at all of them. Went to bed, woke up around 2-230 am and decided to give it a shot. None of the retailer...

I don't know why you got so many disagrees...I feel the same. Here is the quote from the article with the statement from Jim Ryan
One way to keep PS4 users engaged would be to make upcoming PS5 games playable on the older machine, just like Microsoft is proposing with its Xbox Series X games being playable on Xbox One. Yet Ryan says that's not something PlayStation is interested in doing.

Given that God of War came out in 2018 and we're getting Ragnorok in 2021, along with Horizon Forbidden West, I think it's fairly safe to assume the new God of War will be cross gen just as Horizon is. It's not ideally what I want, but I will play the hell out of both of those games and enjoy them anyway. I really don't understand how Sony got some of their marketing wrong though. They implicitly stated they believed in generations and that ps5 games would not be cross gen, bu...

It's a good move....there are many really good games there. Gamepass is phenomenal, but it really doesn't do much good to compare the two, at this point they aren't comparable. The only real correlation would be if Sony were to include first party titles in this move, but that isn't going to happen and quite frankly shouldn't happen.....at least not yet. So while the two services are not comparable, what is also not comparable is the quality and quantity of Sony's f...
I. Is. Impressed. DAy OnE/.
I'm all in for ps5 disc version and series x disc version. I wasn't sold on the series x after seemingly all the first party exclusives are quite a way from release, but they recaptured me with the news that Dolby Vision would be supported in games which wasn't implemented this current gen, and of course Dolby Atmos which was available this gen. It remains to be seen how good Sony's tempest engine will handle audio, and they are prioritizing headphones initially and say they...
Buy them both and you never have to apologize to anybody.
@anonymousfan
The point was not that "sales don't count"
The point was that once that new switch is announced, anyone who was thinking of buying a switch may either 1. consider the new switch for purchase instead or 2. wait for prices on the current switch to inevitably fall as the release of the new switch approaches. Either scenario would see a reduction in the pace of the current switch sales. That was the point. If I did not state it clearly, apologies. ...
Perhaps, but remember that once Nintendo reveals the "next gen" switch in the coming months (scheduled for 2021 release) the switch sales will presumably slow considerably in anticipation of the new switch.
Hopefully that stand can be removed for those of us who would prefer to place the console in horizontal position.
I will be playing.

If they cut the cpu back, that would bottleneck the entire system. It wouldn't matter how good the gpu was, the lack of cpu performance would hamper everything, much the same way the jaguar cpu is the real crutch of the xbox one and the ps4 (even the ps4 pro is crippled by it). The way they are doing it is the correct way to do it, the major concern is the limited ram (8gb usable?) and the paltry ssd storage.
The system will scale well. 4k is 4 ...
I would say it's more a 1080p console, upscaled to 1440p when and where possible for future titles. It will do current gen games at 1440, but not the games that will hit in two or so years time.
As someone who plans on building a pc in November and buying a ps5 day one, I still really like what Microsoft has done with both their next gen consoles. More choice is better than less choice, and there are many who will opt for the series s. That along with gamepass/gamepass ultimate is a hell of a deal, and the option to pay monthly is yet another great option. The concerns I would have in buying a series s would be how that console will perform in a couple years time when more truly &...
Rog Strix 3090 most likely...not sure where the overclock will be for that, probably in the 2-2.1 ghz range. Cooling should be fine, asus does a good job on their cards. x570 aorus xtreme motherboard with aio cooler for cpu. All good. Are you getting the founders edition 3080 or aib card? I like the value of the 3080, but I'm trying to push 4k 120, whether dlss or no, game dependent, on an oled.
The seagate drives are rumored to cost over 200. That will add quite the price to a series s, putting the day one total at 500 plus, right in the series x neighborhood.

It's the mixed messaging that is the problem....even in Sony's conference, turns out hey, guess what? Spider-Man and Horizon, which were believed to be coming only to ps5, are coming to ps4...and that gets revealed by who? Sony? No....Geoff Keighley. Then the trailer which was shown at the conference for Demon Souls was taken down off Sony's website, only to be replaced with a Demon's Souls trailer which removed the mention of it coming to PC. Apparently, the messaging on...
