I have an oled. It's capable of 4k 120. There are games that on launch day that will play in 4k 120 on the new consoles, including Dirt 5, Cod Cold War, Devil May Cry 5, Rainbow Six Siege, Gears 5, Halo Infinite Multiplayer (not at launch, obviously), Ori and the Will of the Wisps, etc etc.
The exec is downplaying HDMI 2.1 because his projector project doesn't support it, neither do Sony's oled for 2020. There are many televisions that do support it, and if y...
@yarbie1000
Yes, it has less ram, but it's also not focusing on 4k textures, so it doesn't need nearly as much ram. I think of the series s as a 1080p 60 machine, even though Microsoft is hyping it as a 1440p 120 machine. Both the ps5 and series x have touted 8k capability, though let's be realistic....those machines will be capable of hitting 4k 120 in a few early titles, but the majority will target 4k 60 or 4k 30. For me, the jargon is meaningless....the reality is ...
@asuka
I own. LG oled. But having said that, I really don't care about native 4k. I would rather developers upscale 1080 or 1440 and use the overhead to enhance other areas of the game, be it framerate, physics, effects, rtx, whatever. Native 4k is overrated.
My God....what have I witnessed? What an achievement. Thank you.
Let's be honest.....both Sony and Microsoft have done a pretty poor job as of late communicating on their next gen console plans. The one thing I can say for Sony that I cannot say for Microsoft is that Sony is bringing the games, by the bucketload. The variety of games on offer in the launch year window is looking fantastic. Microsoft may have one, Halo Infinite. Sony has a plethora. I was fortunate to secure a ps5 preorder, and I hope to secure a series x preorder on the 22nd. I w...
Nice! Great interview.
Ditto.
This game is looking something beyond remarkable. It's going to be a very good fall/winter for software and hardware, pc or console. Spectacular.
@porkchop
Ultimately I don't see how this makes much difference, because if you punish a retailer who opens up preorders early, you're also going to be punishing gamers who preordered at those sites who will subsequently have those preorders canceled, or worse, still be expecting to receive a console on launch day only to be informed then that the stock has run out.
I would be interested to know what the expected breakdown is as to what percentage of xbox preorders will be series x vs. how many will go for series s. I secured a ps5 preorder, I'm hoping to secure a series x preorder on the 22nd.
The thing with Amazon is that on occasion when I have ordered products from them, everything can look on schedule......until release day. Then at the end of the day they'll send you a message with some bullspit about a short delay in the delivery, I even had them attempt to tell me once they tried to deliver the package but were unable to access the location. It was of course pure nonsense, but the fact is amazon uses many different services for package delivery. I've have delivery...
That would sting. I preordered through best buy, store pickup, even ordered through paypal so the money was deducted immediately from my account. I want no shenanigans, I will hear no excuses. This nonsense with them canceling some preorders is ridiculous. I paid in full....give me product thank you very much.
@starchild
For me it was simple...I've already spent exorbitant money replacing all my av equipment this year, television, receiver, power amplifier, av cabinet, subwoofers, speakers and atmos speakers, cabling, speaker stands, electrician expenses for running dedicated circuits, the list goes on and on. The pc I would have built would cost approximately 5-6000 dollars. Time to save myself some money. I can be comfortable kicking back in a theater chair with controllers in my ...

I think there is very little to complain about with the launch year window lineup of games Sony has announced. Sony has focused on telling us about games that are coming in 2020 and 2021, unlike Microsoft, who have revealed titles that are still early in development, outside of Halo Infinite, and who knows when that game will launch.
So on balance for the ps5 we're looking at Horizon Forbidden West (ps4 and ps5), Ratchet and Clank (ps5), God of ...
I really don't think this next generation will be long enough for them to sell 200 million units.....that is a LOT of hardware. Even if you assume an astronomical rate of yearly sales of 30 million (which isn't going to happen), at that rate you would still need more than six and a half years to reach 200 million. This generation certainly isn't going to last that long...presumably the next next gen consoles will be introduced by then.
I too wish the enhanced versions of the game were ready for ps5 and series x. I was planning on building out a new pc for cyberpunk, but I changed my mind. I preordered a ps5 and will preorder a series x on the 22nd. I actually think I may wait for the enhanced versions of Cyberpunk for the new consoles before playing it, depending on how it reviews and what the initial differences are for current and next gen versions of the game. My backlog is large so I think I can wait.

There is a pretty outstanding launch lineup coming for ps5. Lots of new titles, and significant titles, more so than I would have expected. The launch year window is looking pretty tasty overall.
I'm not thrilled with how it was handled either and I managed to secure a ps5 preorder. The system needs fixing, bottom line.
I got lucky and got a ps5 preorder from best buy at about 2-230 in the morning. Today through some enchantment I don't know what I got a preorder from Amazon for the series x around 11:50 am. I had many tabs open to different sites, but most failed....a few when I was in the cart trying to check out. These ones went through due to a lucky refresh at just the right moment, apparently, because as soon as both transactions were complete and I returned to the ps5 and series x availability ...
