The thing is, the HDDVD camp likes to exclude the PS3 when it comes to the numbers of players sold. If they want to include it as a player for attach rates, they should include it as a player for overall sales. Of course, that wouldn't look so good for them... so maybe they should just shut up and talk about their lower prices on players, the only real advantage they have left.
it's hard to take the article as scripture considering the source for most of the information is a spokesman for HDDVD.
One gem is that Van Wynendaele states "This feature won't work on any Blu-ray player available today. Even on the PS3..." and it's obvious that only the article's writer actually says anything about the fact that the PS3 does meet the standards for 1.1 and can be easily updated via firmware, and as the highest selling BluRay player, that is very important. ...
that was what explained it all for me. The kid had issues and that's the reason he did this.
The sad thing is that, as we already see, his gaming will be a main thing blamed for this. Why? Because it's the one thing all the people around him, who likely were witness to a LOT of warning signs that he was unstable, will be able to blame without blaming themselves.
Seriously, it doesn't sound like an independent writer's thoughts on why one format is better than the other, it's a bulleted list that sounds like it was prepared by a copywriter for one of HD-DVD's advertising agencies.

The Pixar releases are going to make the margin even larger. The HDDVD camp better hope Shrek 3 can deliver.
The demo is great, just got into it and it's definitely wow... this game is something special, that's for sure. A big part of the already great holiday season for games.
But don't everyone hit it at once, wait for me to finish my download first... 1200 MB is going to take a while.

Anyway, not feeling too bad about it being released in December, I've got plenty of gaming in the next few weeks to keep me more than busy. Uncharted alone would have had me excited for November, let alone Assassin's Creed and COD4.

and although it may not have XMB in-game, being able to organize the games/demos and videos is very, very welcome and I also look forward to the theme options that we'll be seeing soon.
but I wonder if they'll be bragging about sales of their players next weekend? Unless they can sustain this price, it won't last any longer than the discounts do.
Although it may affect GOW3 in some ways, we must remember that it takes a whole team to build games like we have in the rest of the series, and that the departure of one member of that team doesn't spell disaster. It's likely someone else from the studio will replace him and take the reins on the title, and it will be at least as great as if Jaffe or Barlog were to have put it together.
