Working through my game backlog and waiting for my trip to PAX East in March

nope, just someone who realizes that internet infrastructure and maintenance costs money and companies (especially Microsoft) don't give away profit. Making it free would add people to the service, add bandwitdh use, add maintenance and service need, and remove the incoming funds that support it. How would that possibly sound like a good idea for MS? They aren't in the habit of refusing people's money and adding to their bottomline at the same time. <...

XBOX Live will go free as soon as bandwitdh and network maintenance work becomes free. It takes money for MS to keep the service up and running and they aren't going to eat those costs now, especially not when they have a paid structure in place that people seem to accept, for the most part anyway.

If you use newegg, amazon, or buy.com you can regularly get a year for $30 now which is about as low as I think the price will ever be.

I had a ton of fun gaming on that system.

xenon, Sidewinder, Space Quest, Double Dragon, Marble Madness, Arctic Fox, Silent Service.

So many fun games.

Anyway, I didn't mention in my rambling above that Gamefly is definitely the best way to cut through a big game backlog if you are a late adopter to a console. It helped me dig out some quality games I probably never would have never got around to if I had to buy them, on top of saving me all the money it has over the past couple years.

I am near the 24 month mark on Gamefly and wouldn't cancel anytime soon, as I have everything from now until TBD dates next year in my queue already. Once I pick up a PS3 this fall (and stop stealing my cousin's) I will have even more stuff to catch up on. I only buy the games that I am almost sure I will want in my permanent game library, which comes down to 4-6 games a year. So far this year I have only bought ME2, which I have kept, and Red Dead Redemption which I got off Amazon...

add in a late in development engine change to all those issues besides. Definitely not optimal for game production.

I am all over this when it hits. Risk Factions this week, Puzzle Quest 2 next week (I think) and then this are all buys for me. Then Limbo later this summer too. Lots of stuff I am looking forward to on XBL coming up.

"Why the the truth get in the way of a good story?" That seems to be the mantra when major news outlets cover stories that they can show games in a negative light with.

I was so hyped for this and on their forums they were talking about new stuff at E3. They barely showed anything at all and their big announcement was the game is getting pushed back 6 months or so. This game was already pushed back 6 months once (from spring 2010 to fall 2010). Moving to Spring 2011 puts them at the end of this string of shooters.

Halo: Reach, Medal of Honor, COD: Black Ops, Bulletstorm, Red Faction: Armageddon, Deus Ex, and Gears 3.

That...

Most places are offering gift cards on top of the price cut.

Walmart has a $50GC + the $50 price drop on Arcade bundle units that include a couple cheap games.

Amazon has the spring bundle (Halo:ODST/Forza3) for $250 as well.

Ugh. 6 month delay from the Fall 2010 date they were throwing around up until a few days in interviews. This was the title I was most looking forward to this year. Now I don't even know what I want to try to replace it with.

I HATE game delays, especially when a company spends 6 months feeding you one release window until you start to actually believe them, only to have it moved again with no explanation.

Finally the tipping point in making me invest in another console. I could pass up on the exclusives before but I said that if they ever broke out Twisted Metal again I would grab a PS3. Time to start looking for deals and then I can start working through the backlog of other exclusives that weren't quite enough for me to add another system (Uncharted 1+2, GoW3).

So stoked, Twisted Metal is in my top franchises ever.

Fine without it. Sure.
Better without it? Not likely. That would be like saying any football game is better without the NFL or any baseball game would be better without MLB. UFC is the main entity in MMA so having it is a plus. The game could be great without the UFC but it won't be better because it doesn't have them involved.

Yup an E3 they sell out in a day and make a ton of money off of. Absolutely no need to bother competing with other companies and games at E3 when you can have a huge event all to yourself.

For $1 you can't really go wrong trying it out if it even remotely looks interesting to you, achievements or not.

This is their first game and they plan on making more, and not only in the music genre. The entire company is two people.

Here is the trailer for it.

I guarantee that my digital signal is exactly the same as your digital signal over my $4, 6' cable.

It is a digital signal, all it has to do is get through the cable, and they are rated for signal loss specs. Head on over to bluejeans cable and read up on ratings systems and check out the certifications on monoprice's cables.

@toaster

That is true about the possibility of TF3, but I mentioned it below because it could happen.

Did anyone think they were going to be seeing L4D2 announced at E3 last year? L4D had a thriving community, was bug free (relatively), and had people creating updates for it.

The precedent has been set by Valve themselves last year at E3. I don't see how it is all that far fetched to think it could happen again.

Plus they all have to go through the same certifications to get to the marketplace in the first place, besides the fact that is a 0/1 digital signal. The problem is not everyone knows that and stores often tell people the opposite to sell the higher priced product.

I got three 6' HDMI cables from monoprice for <$15, after tax, shipped when I ordered last. It makes me sick when a big box store employee pushes an $80 Monster cable on someone who just sits there nodding...

Yes it is nice that they are including something that they should have all along. MS should be as well so hopefully they will follow Sony's example here. Their cost for an HDMI cable is nominal and shorting the customer all this time was ridiculous. To include something now that should have been there all along and call it a value bundle is not to my taste in the least.

Any informed consumer can head over to monoprice or another source and get a 6' cable for <$5...

Plus the launch and support of two massivley playable multiplayer games in L4D and L4D2.

valve has had their hands full for sure.

Anything they announce this is smart marketing. They got in the news for Portal two and its announcement and future showing at E3. Now they get pub for the cancellation of it and speculation leading up to the coverage, they will probably get much more coverage this way. Then they get even more coverage when they announce whatever...
